Race 1: CLEAR SUMMER LODGE CLASS 3 PLATE – 1400M
 
The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow jockey L. Dittman, the rider of 2nd placegetter DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE, to view the photo finish image. After jockey Dittman indicated that he was satisfied with the Judge’s placings, correct weight was declared.
 
GOULDIAN – Momentarily held up between the 200m and the 150m.
 
MR BELLAGIO – B. Stewart reported that the gelding sweated up badly en route to the barriers and was under pressure from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from significant heat stress. Connections were advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to its next start.
 
SHARPAMAL – Jumped awkwardly.
 
JAZZY RULER – Hampered on jumping.
 
Race 2: LOGAN & ALBERT HOTEL MAIDEN PLATE – 1650M
 
EVER THE OPTIMUS – Began awkwardly.
 
PEXBURY AVENUE – Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.
 
XYLOPHONE – Reared as the gates opened.
 
ELLERSLEY – Forced to race three wide from the 1000m and from that point struggled and failed to respond when placed under pressure nearing the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination failed to find any apparent abnormalities. Trainer K. Schweida undertook to report to stewards anything that comes to light in ensuing days that may have had an effect on the performance. He added that consideration would also be given to the gelding’s racing future.
 
AVERNA MOUNTAIN – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
INSTANT’S HONOUR – Slowly away.
 
TIZABEE – Bumped on jumping.
 
BOLTIN’ DESIRE – Overraced and raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
LEAPIN’ LENA – Held up nearing the home turn and then was steadied from heels near the 300m.
 
Race 3: TRACKSIDE PHOTOGRAPHY MAIDEN H’CAP – 1100M
 
The start of this race was delayed when STEPH’S BELLE proved difficult to load. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the filly for its barrier manners.
 
LONGARD ROAD – Slow to begin.
 
BEHIND THE THISTLE – Bumped by another runner and steadied from heels near the 850m.
 
STEPH’S BELLE – Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
SHOW ME MAGIC – Trailed the field throughout, began to tire noticeably from the 600m and was eased down by its rider in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare may have pulled up with a cardiac condition. Connections were advised that the mare would be stood down from racing until a veterinary clearance and the results of an ECG are produced and the mare has performed satisfactorily in an official barrier trial.
 
REMEMBA BELLA – A. Spinks reported that his saddle shifted shortly after the start, placing him at a disadvantage.
 
MEGASHOT – Raced three wide throughout.
 
NAUGHTY CORNER – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
Race 4: PETES PARTY PLACE QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
 
Trainer L. Ross was fined $100 for failing to declare apprentice T. Marshall as the rider of GREAT POWERS by the prescribed time.
 
GWAPO – Held up near the 250m.
 
WHITWORTH – Bumped by another runner near the 950m. Raced three wide throughout.
 
AL SABELLA – A post-race veterinary examination found the filly to be suffering from heat stress.
 
LUCKY DEALEN – Raced three wide with cover throughout. Pulled up quickly passing the winning post. A post-race veterinary examination found the filly to be suffering from significant  heat stress and the horse was treated on course. Connections were advised that the horse would be stood down from competing for a period of 7 days.
 
SOHO FLYER – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
 
TAABINGA – Bumped by another runner near the 950m. Had to steady from heels near the 800m. Lost the off fore plate in running.
 
MANILA MISS – M. Shimodaira dropped his whip near the 200m.
 
OPPENHEIMER – Slow to begin.
 
Race 5: BARRIER REEF POOLS F&M CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M
 
FRENCH TOAST – Held up between the 500m and the 400m.
 
RIO ROSIE – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
CASINO EVIL – Raced three wide throughout.
 
ELITE FORCE – A. Spinks dropped his whip in the shadows of the post.
 
TACTICAL MANUEVER – Brushed the running rail near the 300m and became unbalanced and then was unable to obtain clear running from the 100m.
 
Race 6: ANZAC DAY RACES C,G&E CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M
 
BRAINS – Slow to begin. Steadied from heels near the 1100m. When questioned regarding the horse’s performance, V. Johnston stated that the gelding could not muster early speed and in her view is looking for distances further than 1200m. Stewards also noted that the horse was a significant betting drifter and was sent to be swabbed.
 
HARLEY HOG – Raced four wide throughout.
 
DESTINY’S SISTER – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
JAMESLEA WORLD – Made the final turn awkwardly.
 
MJOLNIR – Raced three wide throughout.
 
Race 7: HAACK LOGISTICS BENCHMARK 58 H’CAP – 1650M
 
NELUMBO – Slow to begin. Had to steady near the 350m.
 
ONE MORE TWO MORE – Made heavy contact with the barrier partition on jumping.
 
ARGO’S REVENGE – Tired over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent  abnormalities. Trainer K. Deacon indicated that the gelding would most likely be sent for a spell.
 
THE SHEEPISH LION – The veterinary surgeon reported that the gelding sustained lacerations to the near hind leg consistent with being galloped on and was bandaged on course.
 
LUCKY THREE SEVENS – Bounded as the gates opened and lost ground. Raced wide from the 1000m.
 
MARLAHN – When questioned regarding the horse’s seemingly improved performance, trainer G. Schwenke stated that he specifically targeted this race today as in his view the track and surface would best suit the gelding. He added that the gelding also races best when in a forward position, as it did at its most recent start, and more particularly when it is allowed to dictate the tempo. After reviewing the horse’s recent performances, stewards noted Mr Schwenke’s explanation.
