Race 1: TRACKSIDE PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1400M

The start of this race was delayed when M. Murphy was dislodged from TEMUJIN’S MOON en route to the barriers. In the incident jockey Murphy suffered no apparent injury and declared himself fit to fulfil his engagement. A veterinary examination of TEMUJIN’S MOON after arriving at the barriers cleared the horse to take its place in the field.

The start was further delayed when TORONTO FLYER needed to have the saddle readjusted prior to being loaded.

DEITCH – Forced three wide passing the 900m and remained in that position for the remainder of the event.

KAPSTAR – When questioned regarding the gelding’s disappointing performance, jockey L. Dittman explained that the horse only travelled fairly for the majority of the event and failed to quicken when asked and in his opinion was disappointing. Trainer L. Wheeler expressed some disappointment in the performance of the gelding today. He added that he did expect the gelding to position closer in the run, however after failing to do so and then failing to run on at the finish was of the opinion that the gelding may not have handled today’s racing surface.

TEMUJIN’S MOON – Had to be steadied away from heels approaching the 900m and was shifted out to race in a one-wide position outside the leader. Commenced a four-wide run after passing the 600m.

Race 2: PARADIGM HOMES MAIDEN H'CAP – 1050M

After being loaded, the tongue tie on FEW TOO MANY became detached, which required the gelding to be removed from the barriers and the tongue tie refitted. Due to the difficulty in refitting the tongue tie, the start of the race was delayed considerably.

GREYT INTENTIONS – Raced four wide without cover throughout.

GOOD LOVE – Hung out after passing the 800m and continued to do so for the remainder of the event. Trainer L. Richardson reported that he would experiment with some gear changes, however was advised that the horse must trial satisfactorily before being permitted to race again. Raced greenly in the home straight and had a tendency to lay in.

FEW TOO MANY – Had to be steadied shortly after the start when TOOGOOLAWAH TRUMP shifted in when not fully clear.

PRINCESS XAVIER – Bumped heavily by FEW TOO MANY near the 950m when that runner was obliged to shift out to avoid heels. Raced greenly and became unbalanced for a few strides when racing in restricted room passing the 600m.

MOSSERATI – Blundered on jumping, unbalancing its rider.

Race 3: BARRIER REEF POOLS MAIDEN H'CAP – 1050M

AMERICAN MUSCLE – After beginning on terms with field, was bumped shortly after the start and became unbalanced, losing ground. Improved into a narrow run to the inside of BOUNTY HUNTER when racing keenly passing the 600m and had to be restrained away from heels. Cast the off fore plate in running.

RAGING ROYAL – Slow to begin.

COUNTLESS ROCK – Bumped heavily by  BOUNTY HUNTER on jumping. Had a tendency to lay in over the final 150m, causing its rider to stop riding and straighten his mount on a number of occasions.

BOUNTY HUNTER – Began awkwardly, shifted in and made heavy contact with COUNTLESS ROCK.

DANCING ANGEL – Slow to begin.

LORD TYRION – Jumped with its head in the air and lost some ground. Made contact with AMERICAN MUSCLE passing the 600m and became unbalanced. Trainer P. Sutton was advised that a warning would be placed against the gelding for its pre-race manners and it’s poor performance.

Race 4: BEAUDESERT SOFT DRINKS QTIS 3YO H'CAP – 1400M

The start of this race was delayed when DARTH VADER became fractious after being loaded last in the barriers, and whilst being fractious in the barriers the bridle became detached and had to be refitted.

DYNASTIC – Shifted out to race in  a one-wide position after being crossed by JINX ‘N’ DRINX and did so for the remainder of the event.

CRYSTAL AMOR – Forced to race three wide after passing the 1000m when racing to the outside of DYNASTIC and did so for the remainder of the event. Made the home turn awkwardly. Apprentice T. Marshall pleaded guilty to a charge under AR. 144 and was fined $100 for failing to weigh in for 4th.

DARTH VADER – The racebook incorrectly showed the horse wearing blinkers, however the blinkers were removed prior to it winning at Beaudesert on Monday, 2 April. A public announcement was made to this effect. Tightened between runners shortly after the start. Returned to the enclosure with blood present in its mouth, which was from a slight bump to a tooth.

Race 5: ANZAC DAY RACES C,G&E CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1100M

DRAYMAN, which reared up and fell down on its near hind quarters when fractious in the tie-up stall, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to race. A further veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind leg. Acting on veterinary advice, stewards declared DRAYMAN a late scratching at 3:21 pm. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on DRAYMAN be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 3:21 pm:

11 cents in the dollar for the win #7
9 cents in the dollar for place of winner #7

Gough was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. Mr Gough indicated that the horse would be sent for a spell.

SUPER SHOES – Began awkwardly.

TEMUJIN’S RULE – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

OUR ROCKY – Had to be steadied away from heels when overracing passing the 700m and shifted out. Improved on to the heels of PRIDE OF DESTINY passing the 600m and had to be shifted wider on the track.

ALL PICKLED – Forced three wide passing the 700m when OUR ROCKY shifted out.

SAN SIERRA – Taken wider passing the 600m when OUR ROCKY shifted out to improve.

Race 6: XXXX F&M CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1100M

Trainer M. Eggleston was fined $100 for the late declaration of L. Rolls as the rider of ROSELLA GIRL.

The declaration of correct weight was delayed slightly to enable stewards to view the footage of the start to determine whether LIBERTY LASS be deemed a starter. After viewing the video, stewards were satisfied that LIBERTY LASS reared as the start was effected and lost significant ground and was therefore a runner.

REINDEER MOON – A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the off hind leg and a small laceration over the off hind tendon. Trainer H. Page was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

REGNANT – Raced three wide without cover.

LIBERTY LASS – Reared as the start was effected and lost significant ground. Taken wider on the track approaching the 600m.

Race 7: LOGAN AND ALBERT HOTEL CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1650M

After arriving at the barriers THE PINKERTON was examined by the veterinary surgeon at the request of the rider and upon examination it was found that the gelding had some blood in its offside nostril. As the veterinary surgeon could not be satisfied that it was caused by external trauma, the gelding was scratched by the stewards at 4:33 pm on veterinary advice. Trainer J. Zielke was advised that the gelding would be required to gallop satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a steward prior to being permitted to race again. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on THE PINKERTON be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 4:33 pm:
