Ostrofski SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT From Doomben Saturday 21.4.18 – Race 8: Stewards questioned Trainer Ben Currie on Monday 24 April 2018 regarding the improved performance of WITH A PROMISE in the Ray White Ascot Tails Stakes. Mr Currie explained that at her previous start in the Weetwood Handicap in Toowoomba, WITH A PROMISE raced wide throughout from her wide barrier and finished at the rear of the field on the firm track . Mr Currie added that the step up in distance last Saturday to 1600 metres and the softer track at Doomben were contributing factors to the improvement and he advised the owners that the mare was a winning chance. Mr Currie’s explanation was noted. From Kilcoy Saturday 21.4.18 – Race 7: Trainer M. Mair reported that PERFORATION pulled up with a swollen eye, which may have affected its performance. GENERAL As A. Allen was indisposed due to illness, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Race 1: R.S.L. CLASS 2 PLATE – 1650M The connections of 2nd placegetter BRAINS asked to view the footage of the start prior to the declaration of correct weight and upon being satisfied, correct weight was declared. LORD CHAMBERLAIN – Severely checked on jumping, losing significant ground. BRAINS – Tightened between runners on jumping, losing its position. MISS MILES – Jumped awkwardly and swung sideways as the start was effected. THE PINKERTON – Tightened between runners on jumping. The saddle slipped forward near the 1400m, resulting in rider L. Dittman removing his feet from the stirrups near the 1000m and placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event. LETS GET NAUTI GAL – Steadied from heels at the 1400m. Raced three wide before reaching the position outside the leader near the 1000m. Hung in under pressure over the final 200m. Race 2: HIBERNIAN MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M ANIMAL INSTINCT was declared a late scratching at 11:58 am following veterinary advice that the horse was shin sore in the off foreleg. Trainer B. Cornish was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance before racing again. MASTER MAGIC AL – Overraced in the early stages when being restrained. Hung in under pressure in the run to the finish. CORKONIAN – Raced three wide throughout. ALL ONE CLASS – Hung in near the 300m. TAN TAT WISH – Disappointed for a run leaving the 300m and then steadied when placed awkwardly at the heels of another runner. TAABINGA – As the horse had raced the previous day at Lismore, it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Raced ungenerously near the 1000m and shifted out. Race 3: THE DIGGERS QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1300M DANCING ON PARADE – Shifted ground when tiring approaching the 200m and bumped another runner. Lost the near hind plate in running. IT AIN’T ALL HONEY – Tightened between runners shortly after jumping. KING DINISTY – Put in an awkward stride near the 650m. PONDEROSO – Slow to begin. Held up and had to steady from the heels of tiring runners approaching the 250m. GYPSY’S TIP – Slow to begin. Overraced in the middle stages. STRADA GRANDE – Bumped by another runner at the 250m. HOLLYWOOD STAR – M. Gray dropped his whip at the top of the straight. MAQUEREAU – Slow to begin. Steadied from heels approaching the 250m. Held up leaving the 200m and was disappointed for a run and unable to be fully tested over the concluding stages. Race 4: LIPTON ICE TEA BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 2450M MUSTARRID – Overraced in the early stages and hung in throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. HIGH WIND – Shifted in under pressure over the final 80m. ONE MORE TWO MORE – Steadied near the 500m when placed in restricted room. Due to recent racing and the large fields at today’s meeting, the section of the track between the 700m and the 400m deteriorated to the point that stewards had little option other than to downgrade the track to SOFT 6 retrospective to the running of this event. Race 5: PARADIGM HOMES C,G&E BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1200M MONACO PLAYBOY – Overraced and was then forced to travel wide throughout the event. BOBBY BE GOOD – Slow to begin. Put in an awkward stride near the 600m. SURE DEAL – Hung in leaving the 200m and had to be steadied when improving between runners. Hung in leaving the 200m and had to be steadied when improving between runners. CANNY EXCEL – Reared as the gates opened and lost several lengths. OMISSION – Raced wide throughout. Race 6: BEAUDESERT CUP 25/6 C,G&E BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1200M Prior to the running of this event a delegation of riders approached stewards expressing concerns with the racing surface, particularly between the 600m and the 400m. Jockeys were of the view that the inside section between those two points was inferior, however, after discussing the matter with fellow riders, all riders were comfortable to continue with the remaining races. MEHMETO – Slow to begin. Held up between the 400m and the 200m. RISING STOCK – Held up approaching and rounding the home turn. STELLARCRAFT – Slow to begin. SYAMANTAKA – Tired over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. EXCELEBRAZIONE – Hung out under pressure over the final 100m. DAMN FINE – Slow to begin. Race 7: BEAUDESERT RACE CLUB F&M BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1200M SHOWUS YA DIAMONDS – Bumped on jumping. BOASTING – Hung in under pressure over the final 200m. GOLDEN SUNSET – Tired over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. OUR GIRL CHARLIE – Hung in and was steadied from heels near the 600m. Race 8: BARRIER REEF POOLS BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1400M Stewards acceded to a request by trainer B. Baldwin to scratch due to the track downgrade and MOTION GRANTED was declared a late scratching at 4:00 pm. CHAVISH – Pulled very hard in the early and middle stages. CASCATA ROSSA – Overraced in the early stages. HI HARRY – Hung in under pressure over the final 100m. CREDITON – Slow to begin.
