Carey _________________________________ Race 1: Derby Daypackages On Sale Now QTIS 3yo Class 1 H’cap – 1100m GLOBAL FACTOR – Severely hampered when tightened for room at the start. NO REFUND – Slow to begin. Hung out rounding the home turn. THE BUMBLEBEE – Began awkwardly and shifted in, bumping CONQUERMORE. Raced wide without cover throughout. CONQUERMORE – Shortly after the start was checked when tightened for room and lost ground. MAGIC FOX – Bumped at the start. GODFATHER’S GIRL – Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the performance, jockey J. Byrne stated that the filly failed to travel comfortably throughout the event and proved disappointing. Trainer T. Gollan’s only explanation for the disappointing performance was that the filly may not have appreciated today’s soft track. Nevertheless, Mr Gollan undertook to advise stewards of any abnormality that becomes apparent which may explain today’s performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. Race 2: Spill The Beans @ Aquis Farm CG&E Maiden Plate – 1200m HAMBURGER – The start was delayed the horse proved difficult to load. Trainer D. Groves was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners. GENOA – The start was delayed when the horse proved difficult to load. Trainer M. Wilson was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners. Apprentice J. Murphy reported the gelding raced ungenerously throughout. MONTE SANTO – Began awkwardly. Hung out during the middle stages. HOMELAND SECURITY – Began awkwardly. Leaving the 200m was momentarily held up on the heels of DASHING OCEAN and obliged to alter course. Raced wide for the majority of the event. KARUMBA – Hampered at the start. CRUDE OIL – Hung out rounding the turn near the 600m. DASHING OCEAN – Raced wide without cover throughout. Race 3: Kobayashi @ Aquis Farm F&M Maiden Plate – 1200m SHE’S WELCOME – Proved difficult to load. OYSTER – Began awkwardly and lost ground. ANGEL OF WAR – Blundered badly on jumping away, almost dislodging jockey L. Tarrant, and as a consequence lost ground. Held up when unable to improve from the 500m to the 300m. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. PLAY NOW – At the start was checked away from the heels of ANGEL OF WAR, which blundered. FILLY CHIC – Began awkwardly. Held up approaching the home turn. Laid in under pressure. PLUCKY PANTHER – Had to be steadied from heels near the 600m. SECRET LILY – Held up approaching the home turn. AVERNA MOUNTAIN – Held up approaching the home turn and leaving the 300m was steadied away from the heels of PLUCKY PANTHER , which commenced to weaken. DEVILLAIN – Raced wide without cover throughout. WE CALL HER LOLA – Raced with throughout. Race 4: Holy Roman Emperor @ Aquis Farm Class 1 H’cap – 1650m CORSINI – Stewards accepted the explanation for the late declaration of R. Palmer for the horse. Raced wide with cover throughout. STARCASTER – When caught wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward and settle outside the leader near the 1300m. Jockey A. Fancourt reported that this had a detrimental effect on the horse’s performance as it performs better when able to be ridden with cover. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. ANIMAL INSTINCT – Raced wide in the early stages. VICTORY STAR – Eased when placed in restricted room near the 1300m. YOUNGSTOWN – Steadied from heels near the 1000m. Held up rounding the home turn. YABULU LAD – Leaving the 400m steadied away from the heels of STARCASTER in order to improve. Race 5: Doomsday @ Aquis Farm Class 2 H’cap – 1200m HOT CHOICE – Declared a late scratching at 9.30 am on the advice of the veterinary surgeon after the mare was found to have an elevated temperature. Trainer B. Smith was advised he must provide a veterinary certificate. BUBBA ROCKER – Began awkwardly and shifted out, making heavy contact with SACROMONTE. Steadied from heels near the 300m. SACROMONTE – Bumped heavily at the start. Held up rounding the home turn. SPLASH OF CRISTAL – Bumped at the start. BOLD SAM – Caught wide in the early stages and was ridden forward to settle outside the leader near the 900m. DANGER ANNIE – Raced wide without cover throughout. Race 6: Kiss And Make Up @ Aquis Farm Benchmark 70 H’cap – 1300m REIGNING THUNDER – Upon arrival at the barriers underwent a veterinary examination at the request of jockey M. Hellyer and was subsequently cleared to start. Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. CHARLIE CAT – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. When questioned as to the tactics adopted in the middle stages, apprentice L. Kilner stated that leaving the 600m she attempted to improve to the inside of ROUND MOUNTAIN but was unable to do so due to that runner shifting ground. As a consequence she was obliged to steady the gelding passing the 400m when placed in restricted room to the inside of ROUND MOUNTAIN. Stewards accepted the explanation. REIGNING THUNDER – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. SAYONARAMOSA – Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout. JINX ‘N’ DRINX - Began awkwardly and was hampered a short distance later. When questioned regarding the performance, jockey S. Shield noted that he was obliged to settle further back in the field than anticipated after the mare was slow to begin. Jockey Shield stated that the mare did not travel comfortably at any stage of the race when forced to race at the rear of the field, and that it was better suited when able to lead. Stewards noted the explanation. Jockey S. Shield was reprimanded for use of his whip prior to the 100m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be coming into season. STORMY GREY – Momentarily held up approaching the home turn. SECRET CODE – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be making an abnormal respiratory noise.. Race 7: The Mission @ Aquis Farm Ratngs Band 0-58 H’cap – 1400m VOLOMITE – Presented to race without a tongue-tie. Stewards permitted the gelding to race without a tongue-tie on the undertaking of trainer S. Strazzieri that it raced without that gear at its last start. PRINCELY BLAZE – The start was delayed when its off fore plate had to be replaced behind the barriers. PRINCESS CAVALLO – Began awkwardly and shifted in, bumping STAR STRUCKED. STAR STRUCKED – Bumped on jumping away. Overraced in the early stages and consequently raced wide without cover. HUTCHO – Slow to begin. Leaving the 600m shifted out to improve and was obliged to race extremely wide from that point onwards. VOLOMITE – Slow to begin. Near the 400m was steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of PRINCELY BLAZE. PASS OF GOLD – Slow to begin. Held up approaching and rounding the home turn and near the 300m was steadied from the heels of PRINCESS CAVALLO. FAVULICIOUS – Hung out rounding the home turn. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying poor post race recovery. SHEZ OUR DESTINY – Had to be steadied from the heels of FAVULICIOUS approaching the 200m. LANDALE – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. VIMZIG – Raced wide throughout. LANDALE – When questioned as to the seemingly improved performance, trainer B. Mahon stated that the gelding lacked race fitness when first up from a spell 2 starts ago. Mr Mahon added that at its last start at Gympie the gelding was not suited when obliged to race back in the field on the sand track. Mr Mahon was therefore of the opinion that the gelding was well suited today, third up from a spell and able to settle on the speed.
