QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT AQUIS BEAUDESERT RACE CLUB DATE: 12 March 2020 WEATHER – Overcast TRACK RATING – Soft 6 RAIL – True Entire Course OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – L. Woodham Race 1: Anzac Day Beaudesert Maiden Handicap – 1050m Acting on veterinary advice, CHAMPAGNE PARTY was a late scratching at 7:44am. Trainer D. Brown was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness will be required before the mares next race start. STARRY BEAUTY – After arriving on course late due to transport difficulties, the filly underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. MOTOWN MINX – Hampered by another runner shortly after the start and lost ground. Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. Made the home turn awkwardly. Lost its off fore plate in running. LITTLE NATURAL – Shortly after the start, commenced to buck for some distance. Trainer R. Howard was advised that the gelding will be required to officially trial prior to its next race start. ARCADIAN SHORES – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. TAKEMEOUTBACK – Raced wide in the early stages before obtaining a position approaching the 700m. LONNY LONNY – Improved onto the heels of TAKEMEOUTBACK approaching the 900m and had to be steadied. HIDDEN SECRET – Held up for clear running from the 300m until a point passing the 100m. Race 2: Aquis Maiden Plate – 1400m Stewards accepted Trainer T. Cotsiopoulos explanation for the late declaration of Jockey A. Allen on LOCAL GOSSIP. The start was delayed when ABOVE THE SKY and IMITARI became fractious in the barriers. PITTSBURGH PHIL – Raced wide in the early stages before being allowed to stride forward and obtain a position outside the leader approaching the 600m. Near the 900m, bumped by another runner number of occasions. HOSTWIN SUNLIGHT – Approaching the 900m, bumped on a number of occasions. PRINCE DUPORTH – Raced 3 wide throughout. ABOVE THE SKY – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. Race 3: Aquis BM65 Handicap – 1650m Correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to consider an application by the connections of CYCLONE PATH, which reared as the start was effected, to be declared a non-runner on the grounds of being denied a fair start. After viewing the film and taking evidence from the connections, Jockey L. Dittman and the Starter, Stewards were satisfied that the gelding was afforded a fair start and declared CYCLONE PATH a runner. Jockey Dittman restrained his mount which took no competitive part in the race. ANIMAL INSTINCT – Began awkwardly. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. SAME OLD – Approaching the 950m, shifted wider to obtain clear running and was obliged to race wide for the remainder. ALADINA – Slow to begin. Leaving the 900m steadied after improving onto the heels of ANIMAL INSTINCT. COURT RULES – Raced keenly in the early stages. THE POTATO PONTIFF – Approaching the 900m improved onto the heels of RICHEST and shifted wider. RICHEST – Approaching the 300m, was placed in restricted room and was steadied when improving into a tight run which presented itself momentarily between COURT RULES and MOTHER TO RACE HER which shifted in after bumping with SAME OLD when disappointed for a run in an attempt to shift wider to secure clear running at that point of the race. Jockey A. Mallyon (MOTHER TO RACE HER) was reminded of his obligations when allowing his mounts to shift ground. Race 4: John JB Braybrook Class 3 Handicap – 1400m The start was delayed when DARK EURO and GENOA proved difficult to load. HARD EVIDENCE – As the gelding has not raced for over 12 months, it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Slow to begin. CONQUER MEE – Raced wide in the early stages before being allowed to stride forward and obtain a position outside the leader approaching the 650m. ANGELS LOVE – Raced wide throughout. SHINING BLUE – Laid out under pressure inconveniencing another runner approaching the 50m. SHADWELL FLYER – Approaching the 50m was inconvenienced by another runner and had to be steadied. Race 5: Aquis 0 – 58 Handicap – 1300m GREY SKIES – Reared as the start was effected and lost significant ground. Trainer R. Drysdale was advised that the gelding will require to officially trial prior to its next race start. LUCAP – Reared slightly as the start was effected. Approaching the 100m had to be steadied from the heels of SIR BAM which laid in under pressure. Jockey B. Pengelly (SIR BAM) was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear. LINCOLNS COMMAND – Stood flat-footed and was slow to begin. GWENDOLINE ROSE – Inconvenienced by another runner approaching the 1200m and had to be steadied. FLIRTY MCCOY – Raced wide for the majority of event. SIR BAM – Raced wide throughout. Approaching the 100m laid in under pressure. POSITIVE SPIN – Held up rounding the home turn. Jockeys A. Chau (LUCAP) and A. Allen (DEGRASSE) were both reprimanded under AR32(7)(a)(ii) for using their whips in a forehand manner on more than the permitted number of occasions prior to the 100m. Jockey B. Pengelly was reprimanded for leaving the course without the permission of the Stewards. Race 6: Aquis Class 5 Handicap – 1100m As Jockey C. Taylor was stood down by the QAS officers, he was replaced on COSSIE by Jockey S. Bogenhuber. FLYING FROG – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. MECUM – Raced 3 wide throughout. BEAU ARROW – Raced 3 wide throughout. YOUR OPTION – Raced keenly in the middle stages and hung out. BRINKMANSHIP – Inclined to hang out from the 400m until the 150m. Race 7: Aquis QTIS 3YO Handicap – 1100m BOLD STYLE – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout. APPLECROSS – Jumped awkwardly and was slow to begin. GENERAL WITT – Raced wide before being allowed to stride forward and obtain a position outside the leader approaching the 600m. ZAITEKI – Raced wide in the early stages. CONCEALED DYNAMITE – Raced wide throughout. FLYING CRACKERJAK – Inclined to lay in in the straight and the rider lost the use of his whip approaching the 100m.
