Following the declaration of correct weight it was noted on review of the stewards patrol footage that POLE VOLTER and KATARINA had jumped from incorrect barriers. Stewards interviewed both starter K. Watson and assistant starter T. Woodham and riders of both horses.  It was established that KATARINA had jumped from barrier 9 and POLE VOLTER from barrier 8, which should have been reversed. After considering all the evidence, Stewards determined that jumping from the incorrect barriers did not have a material effect upon either horse, nor did it affect the performance of either runner throughout the event. Therefore acting under AR198(2)(a) confirmed the official order of placings.  Stewards did however issue reprimands to both riders for negligence under AR198(1) and also drew this matter to the attention of the Gold Coast Turf Club, who employ the starting staff.
