Race 1: ANZAC DAY RACES BOOK NOW QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1400 metres BYTACT – Steadied near the 100m when awkwardly placed at the heels of HENRY REEF which shifted out. HENRY REEF – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. MARMION – Bumped on jumping. Rider G. Goomany reported that his mount laid out in the home straight. CARREFOUR – Slow to begin. SORORITY BELLE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. STRAITOUTTAHARLEM – Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Race 2: APRIL ANZAC DAY RACES BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 2450 metres The start was delayed when METEOR LIGHT became fractious at the barriers and a as a result underwent a pre-race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to have sustained lacerations to the near hind and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 1.36pm under veterinary advice. All monies invested on METEOR LIGHT were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 1.36pm: 57 cents in the dollar for the win #6 48 cents in the dollar for the place of winner #6 35 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #3 LINCOLN TOWN (NZ) – Raced keenly in the middle stages. STAR CENTRE – Slow to begin. MARECAT (NZ) - Trainer D. Chujo was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for the mare by the prescribed time. LEICABLE – Slow to begin. Near the 1200m shifted out to improve. Stewards questioned Trainer K Kemp regarding the seemingly improved performance of LEICABLE today as compared to its most recent start at Toowoomba on 27 March 2021. Mr Kemp explained that today was the mares second start after a short freshen and took a fitness benefit from its previous start. He added that LEICABLE and had worked well leading up to today’s race and with the step up in distance he had expected a forward showing. The trainer’s explanation was noted. Race 3: TAB QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1200 metres KISS MY MILLO – Began awkwardly. Steadied near the 800m when improved onto the heels of MISHANI UNTAMED and shifted out. Raced wide from that point. SPIRIT MEISTER – Blundered on jumping and lost ground. Near the 500m put in an awkward stride. WHY WE DRINK – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. MISHANI UNTAMED – Momentarily held up approaching the home straight. RITTZIER - Trainer D. Murphy was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for the filly by the prescribed time. Race 4: BEAUDESERTRACECLUB.COM QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1200 metres BLUE KENTUCKY MOON – Slow to begin. Near the 900m whilst racing in restricted room for a short distance had to be steadied when racing to the inside of MISHANI APPEAL which shifted in marginally. BATTLE THROUGH – Began awkwardly. CURVETTA – Near the 900m was bumped on the hindquarters by LEMON DUCHESS which had shifted out and became momentarily unbalanced. LEMON DUCHESS – Trainer G. Cornish advised Stewards of a change of tactics – to be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. Slow to begin. Near the 900m commenced to race ungenerously while being restrained when momentarily restricted for room to the inside of BLUE KENTUCKY MOON and shifted out bumping CURVETTA and as a result settled at the rear of the field. Near the 700m steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of CURVETTA. Race 5: ANZAC DAY RACES BOOK NOW RATINGS BASED 0 - 58 Handicap 1650 metre Correct weight was delayed when Stewards considered an objection lodged by B. Ainsworth the rider of ROUND OF APPLAUSE which finished 3rd against I’M JACKO (A.Bakos) being declared the winner on the grounds of interference suffered in the home straight. Bearing in mind the margin of 1 and half lengths and the interference being within the vicinity of the winning post, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that ROUND OF APPLAUSE would have beaten I’M JACKO and therefore the protest was dismissed. ROUND OF APPLAUSE – Near the 50m was steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of I’M JACKO which shifted in. Apprentice A Bakos (I’M JACKO) was pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that near the 50m made insufficient effort to prevent her mount from shifting in and as a result ROUND OF APPLAUSE had to be steadied to avoid heels. Apprentice A Bakos permit to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 7 April 2021 and expire midnight 15 April 2021. NIATROSS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. SHADYVALE SERENADE - Near the 1200m was checked and shifted wider when awkwardly placed at the heels of KING BART. SWING SHIFT – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. QUALIFY – Passing the winning post on the first occasion was steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of SKY ONE. Near the 1200m was checked and shifted wider when awkwardly placed at the heels of SHADYVALE SERENADE and raced wide from that point. Post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have sustained minor abrasions to the near foreleg. KING BART – Near the 1200m was checked and shifted wider when awkwardly placed at the heels of ROUND OF APPLAUSE. Rider B. Ainsworth was found guilty of a charged under AR131(d) in that near the 1000m when attempting to surrender the lead excessively slowed the pace of her mount, resulting in KING BART (N Tomizawa) improving on heels and having to be checked, then SHADYVALE SERENADE (App M Wishart) which was following being checked to avoid heels. QUALIFY (App J Lloyd) which was racing behind SHADYVALE SERENADE had to checked to avoid that runners’ heels, Jockey B. Ainsworths licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 12 days to commence midnight 10 April 2021 and expire midnight 22 April 2021. PRUNDA – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 6: 25 APRIL ANZAC DAY RACES Fillies & Mares BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1200 metres TOLERATE – Slipped behind when jumping and lost ground. NORTHERN DRAGON – Raced three wide throughout. Approaching the 100m was disappointed for a run between INDY BONBON and QUEEN OF THE NIGHT which shifted out and as a result shifted wider to obtain clear running SECONDOFMAY – Raced wide in the early stages. SINGLE SKIP – Raced keen in the early and middle stages. LIGHT CHARGE – Began awkwardly. INDY BONBON – Fractious in the barriers. Trainer T Cotsiopoulos advised Stewards subsequent to the event, INDY BONBON sustained an injury to its right eye and as a result the mare has received veterinary attention. SPIRIT OF EDYN – Stood flat footed and lost ground. Raced wide throughout. Race 7: TAB Colts, Geldings & Entires BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1200 metres MIGHTY MOOSE – Near the 900m commenced to over race while being restrained when awkwardly placed at the heels of MY BOY MISCHKE which shifted in marginally. Rider R Goldsbury (MY BOY MISCHKE) was reminded of her obligations when shifting ground. OUR ROCKY – Raced three wide throughout. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. BARTALUMBA – Slow to begin. Laid out rounding the home turn. MY BOY MISCHKE – Near the 900m commenced to over-race whilst being restrained to get cover. Leaving the 200m laid in and was steadied from the heels of CARLTON STAR. AMERICAN HONOR – Began awkwardly. CARLTON STAR – Raced wide for the majority.
