As apprentice Olivia Webb was not riding at the meeting for acceptable reasons and Bradley Appo and Ryan Wiggins were delayed arriving on course due to transport issues, riding changes were permitted as per the Race Day summary sheet. Race 1: PRYDE'S EASIFEED QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1200 metres KESSEL RUN – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. CONAIR – Rider reported the filly failed to muster early speed as anticipated and consequently settled further back in the field, adding that CONAIR was also inclined to race greenly throughout. Trainer C Geran advised CONAIR would now be sent for a spell. DYNAMIC JEWEL – Rider reported the filly was inclined to lay out from the 600 metres. COME CLEAN – Raced three wide in the early stages. Race 2: PRYDE'S EASIFEED THREE Maiden Handicap 1200 metresThe start of the race was delayed approximately 15 minutes after the majority of the field had been loaded into the barriers, when a section of the inside running rail near the 500 metres blew over as a result of strong winds. The field was removed from the barriers while the running rail was repaired. Due to this delay the starting time of Race 3 was amended to 1:40pm and Race 4 to 2:10pm. PIZZO – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Near the 700 metres shifted and bumped GUESS WHO. Raced four wide for the majority of the event. ALL SORTED – Tightened on jumping and lost ground. Near the 900m improved onto heels and shifted out and as a result raced in restricted room for some distance. MISHANI VANDAL – App L Barr reported the saddle on the gelding slipped during the running of the event placing her at some disadvantage. Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. GUESS WHO – Began awkwardly. Bumped near the 700 metres. Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event. RUNARD REDNUT – Began awkwardly. SNAP THE LUCK – Began awkwardly and lost ground. HOKE'S RUN – Tightened on jumping. Near the 900 metres raced in restricted room to the inside of GUESS WHO and the outside of ALL SORTED which improved onto heels and shifted in. Continued to race in restricted until near the 600 metres. Race 3: PRYDE'S EASIFEED EASIPERFORMANCE Maiden Handicap 1200 metres CURLEY'S PRIDE – Laid out during the middle stages of the event. SAVVY STRYKE – Slow to begin. FINGERTIPS – Raced three wide for the majority of the event. Forced wider on the track near the 600 metres when CURLEY’S PRIDE laid out. GYPSY ROZAY – Put in an awkward stride near the 150 metres. When asked to comment on racing more forward today, rider N Thomas explained the horse was up in distance today and after being pressured in the lead during the middle stages, GYPSY ROZAY over raced when leading the event. HIDDEN LILY – Slow to begin. Raced three wide for the majority of the event. REGAL EYES – Near the 100 metres shifted in to obtain clear running. ROSE BY DESIGN – When asked to comment on tactics adopted apprentice O Kendal stated instructions were to race in a forward position and after the mare travelled keenly outside the leader, she attempted to rate ROSE BY DESIGN without overly restraining the horse. Stewards noted her explanation. Apprentice O Kendall was reminded of her obligations in riding her mounts out to the end of the race. Race 4: PRYDE'S EASIFEED RACING CUBE Maiden Handicap 1650 metres CRAZY EYED FRED – Raced three wide in the early stages of the event before obtaining the lead near the 900 metres. KINGSFORD'S OWN – Began awkwardly. Made first turn awkwardly and shifted out. ICE ELITE – Proved difficult to load. Stood flat footed and lost ground. Trainer G Cornish was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners. Held up for clear running between the 400 metres and the entrance to the home straight. RED VEGAS – Forced wider leaving the home straight on the first occasion. Made the home turn wide. FLECKERL – Bumped on jumping. Bumped rounding the home turn. EVRYNOW'N'THEN – Made the home turn awkwardly. Race 5: PRYDE'S EASIFEED ENERGYPAK RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1650 metres AWARD KNIGHT – Slow to begin. RIGHTEOUSNESS – Slow to begin. WAIKATO – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. DIAMOND MOMENTS – Leaving the 1200 metres shifted out to improve and progressed forward to lead the event from the 800 metres. STELLAR – Raced wide from the 900 metres. SISTINE AVENUE – Slow to begin. Made the 1200 metre crossing awkwardly. Forced wider on the track passing the 1200 metres and was then obliged to race wide for the remainder of the event. Steadied from the heels of RIGHTEOUSNESS passing the 100 metres. Race 6: PRYDE'S EASIFEED EASILYTE RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1650 metres PRINTMAKER – Difficult to load. Brushed the running rail passing the winning post on the first occasion and became unbalanced. THE BIG EATER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. SUPERVISOR – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. STARBUSTER – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced keenly in the early stages. BUFFALO GIRL – Raced wide for the majority of the event. GALA RAIN – Slow to begin. THINK I'M FLYING – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey S Fawke was fined $400 under 188(c) in that he weighed out without a vest and was fined the sum of $400. SIZZLING DIAMOND – Raced wide for the majority of the event. OUR BOY TRAV – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. Race 7: PRYDE'S EASIFEED BIOMARE CUBES Fillies and Mares BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1200 metres SWAN ISLAND – Approaching the 500 metres forced wider on the track. Raced wide for the majority of the event. SECRET CONQUEST – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the event. BRAZEN DYNAMO – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. CHERRY SODA – When attempting to improve into a narrow run near the 400 metres contacted the heels of BRILLIANTLY and blundered when that runner shifted in marginally. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages. COSSIE – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. CRAFTY AQUILA – Near the 900 metres raced in restricted room to the inside of BARTY which shifted in and away from BAY OF DRAGONS. Race 8: PRYDE'S EASIFEED EASIOIL Colts, Geldings & Entires BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1200 metres WHITEBAIT PATTIE – Raced three wide in the early and middle stages. BLUE TYCOON – Laid out under pressure near the 100 metres. MAJOR NIC – Approaching the 400 metres raced in restricted to the inside of WHITEBAIT PATTIE which laid in. MISHANI CONMAN – Raced wide for the majority of the event. COME IN SPINNER (NZ) – Over the concluding stages steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of WHITEBAIT PATTIE which shifted out under pressure. KATANAROCK – Fractious after being loaded. Began awkwardly. CORONEL – From the 100 metres shifted out and away from BLUE TYCOON. Apprentice J Cornish, rider of CORONEL, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted. JENO – Bumped on jumping. CONQUER MEE – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Race 9: GPS RUGBY CLUB DERBY DAY Class 5 Handicap 1100 metres On arrival to the barriers LEADERSHIP SPILL underwent a pre-race veterinary examination as the gelding had been kicked by another runner and as a result was subsequently declared a late scratching at 5:01pm on Veterinary advice. All monies invested on LEADERSHIP SPILL were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to time:55 cents in the dollar for the win - MOSCINI29 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - MOSCINI36 cents in the dollar for 2nd place - DIVI36 cents in the dollar for 3rd place - SEE FOR YOURSELF KRAKATOA ERUPTION – Slow to begin. BETAJET – Shifted wider on the track from the 600 metres to improve and raced wide for the remainder. MOSCINI – Bumped near the 100 metres. MISSIE ARCHER – Reared as the start was effected. IBINI – Raced three wide without cover throughout. DIVI – Shifted out under pressure near the 100 metres and bumped MOSCINI. SEE FOR YOURSELF – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
