The Judge and the Stewards reviewed the finish of the race and could not comfortably separate CHAYSE ‘N’ MENARI and DOCTOR JACK for third placing and a deadheat for 3rd was declared. SAY NO NEVER – Fractious and became cast. Withdrawn on Vets advise at 1.29pm. Trainer S Andersen was advised that the gelding would require a barrier certificate before racing again. Apprentice M Castle was examined by the QAS officers and was exhibiting signs of soreness in her right ankle and was stood down from her remaining riding engagement. Apprentice M Castle will be required to provide a medical clearance before riding again. Race 3: GALLIPOLI Class 2 Handicap 1400 metres ELECTED (IRE) – Laid out rounding the home turn. Laid inwards in the straight. Race 5: THE CLUB BEAUDESERT BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1300 metres POLE VAULTER- Trainer R Lyford was fined $300 for failing to scratch the gelding by the prescribed time. Prior to the declaration of Correct weight, Stewards considered a protest was lodged by Jockey B Stewart, the rider of the second placegetter BROKEN HERO against the first placegetter STRYKING PRINCESS for alleged interference in the straight. After taking evidence from both riders and their respective Trainers and viewing the films, Stewards were of the opinion that near the 120m BROKEN HERO had commenced improve to the outside of STRYKING PRINCESS and thereafter STRYKING PRINCESS shifted out thereby impeding BROKEN HERO which was forced to shift out. Over the concluding stages with clear running BROKEN HERO made up considerable ground to finish a short head behind STRYKING PRINCESS. Taking this all into account Stewards were of the view that had the interference not occurred BROKEN HERO would have finished ahead of STRYKING PRINCESS at the conclusion of the event and therefore protest was upheld with the placings amended accordingly. BROKEN HERO – Raced wide in the early stages. Impeded and carried wider for some distance near the 150m. BOBBY AXELROD – As Apprentice M Castle was stood down Stewards permitted Apprentice J Cornish to replace her. Momentarily raced in restricted room passing the 150m.
