GENERAL
Trainer S Cole was reprimanded under LR67 for the late declaration of rider on D’CLONE and WAIKATO. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account his previous excellent record under this rule.
 
Race 1: SKY RACING QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1100 metres
 
APRIL IN AUGUSTA – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Held up for clear running between the 500m and the 200m and then brushed the running rail after obtaining a narrow run to the inside of BEITSO a short distance later. When asked to comment on tactics adopted, particularly from the 800m, rider T Brooker explained instructions were to be positive at the start however after the horse was slow to begin APRIL IN AUGUSTA raced keenly at the heels of BEITSO leaving the 800m adding that she was reluctant to shift wider at that point bearing in mind ground lost at the start.  Ms Brooker further stated from that point she elected to follow BEITSO and had anticipated obtaining an inside run from the 400m however this did not eventuate, and she was obliged to race at the heels of BEITSO until securing clear running leaving the 200m. Stewards noted the explanation provided.
 
CATWALK CRIMINAL – Passing the finish line became awkward in its action after jumping the winning post shadow.
 
MONTANA LADY – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
MISHANI SUPREME – On arrival at the barriers the saddle on the horse was readjusted. Slow to begin. Raced wide from the 800m.
 
 
Race 2: JONKER STANDING AT AQUIS Maiden Plate 1400 metres
 
BYCULLA – Raced wide throughout. Rider T Harrison reported after being forced to work hard in the early stages of the race, the horse did not finish the race off as expected and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an abrasion to the nearside pastern.
 
GIANT THUNDER – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
MOUNT ZION – Taken in at the start. Leaving the 800m improved onto heels and shifted out and then raced wide for the remainder of the event.
 
WINTERSTEIN – Checked at the start and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.
 
FUMBLEROOSKI – When weakening near the 400m shifted in, became unbalanced and lost ground. HYPERION ANGEL, which was following, was obliged to shift out to avoid heels in this incident.
 
MOONLIGHT COWBOY – Slow to begin.
 
HYPERION ANGEL – Steadied from heels near the 400m. Improved onto the heels of the weakening BYCULLA near the 100m and obliged to shift in.
 
FOXY FRAULIEN – Jumped in at the start taking MOUNT ZION in resulting in WINTERSTEIN being tightened and checked. Leaving the 1000m steadied from the heels of BYCULLA which shifted in when not fully clear. T Harrison, rider of FOXY FRAULIEN, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. Raced wide throughout.
 
SHEZANUISANCE – After beginning very awkwardly and losing ground, was shifted across runners to a rearward position closer to the rails.
 
HOKE'S RUN – Inconvenienced leaving the 400m.
 
Following the running of this event Stewards inspected a section of the track near the 400m and found it suitable for racing.
 
 
Race 3: BEAUDESERT CUP RACEDAY 9 JULY BENCHMARK 62
Handicap 2450 metres
 
HEAD UP HIGH – Change of tactics, more forward if circumstances permit. After beginning awkwardly was ridden forward to obtain a forward position with cover.
 
MEMOIRE PARFAIT – After being caught wide in the early stages progressed forward to race outside the leader from the 1600m.
 
D'CLONE – After having raced at the SCTC meeting on Friday 17th, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Rider S Tomlinson reported the saddle shifted back in the early stages placing him at some disadvantage for the remainder of the event, adding that D’CLONE tended to hang in for most of the race.
 
JABBAR – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
PRINENTE – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
Following the running of this event, Stewards and a delegation of senior riders inspected a section of the track near the 1200m crossing and found the surface suitable for racing.
 
 
Race 4: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1650 metres
 
KELLERS SHELTER – Rider J Stanley reported the horse failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.
 
CAIRNDOW – Rider W Peel reported the horse blundered making the crossing near the 1200m. Improved onto the heels of CREDIBLE near the 100m and was obliged to shift in to obtain clear running.
 
CORONEL – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
LIPEANSASS – As R Wiggins was delayed arriving on course Stewards permitted K Zechner to ride the horse. Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide from the 800m.
 
MINOR LUCK – Slow to begin.
 
WAIKATO – After having raced at the SCTC meeting on Sunday 19th, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Raced three wide in the early and middle stages before being forced four wide from the 800m when LIPEANSASS shifted out to improve.
 
 
Race 5: JONKER STANDING AT AQUIS Fillies and Mares Class 2
Handicap 1100 metres
 
MY ODDETTE – Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight. Trainer W Hulbert was advised a warning would be placed on the horse’s racing manners.
 
CROWN WAR – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
DREAM ENTITY – Slow to begin.
 
INNERVOICE – Leaving the 700m improved onto the heels of DYNAMIC JEWEL and had to be steadied. Leaving the 200m the whip became entangled in the rein which resulted in rider S Collett having some difficulty applying the whip for several strides.
 
WHISTLE HOFF – Fractious before the start. Very slow to begin and lost ground. Trainer V Heading was advised WHISTLE HOFF would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start.
 
ASTROPHYSICS – Fractious before the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration in the near hind hock region.
 
 
Race 6: BEAUDESERT CUP RACEDAY 9 JULY Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 2 Handicap 1100 metres
 
EXCEED TYCOON – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers. Trainer D Joice was advised a warning would be placed on the horse’s barrier manners. Reared at the start and lost ground. A warning was placed on the barrier manners of the gelding.
 
SAM'S A NATURAL – At the start bumped with TOP MASTER. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
TOP MASTER – At the start bumped with SAM’S A NATURAL. Raced wide with cover for the majority of the event.
 
JUNGLE BLAZE – After being slow to begin was hampered a short distance later when MENINDEE shifted out.
 
MENINDEE – Jumped out at the start and hampered JUNGLE BLAZE. Raced wide in the early stages.
 
POWERWOLF – Near the 800m when racing tightly to the inside of MENINDEE, became awkwardly placed at the heels of EPIC PLAYER and had to be steadied.
 
CORBIN – Slow to begin.
 
EPIC PLAYER – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
DACXI KABOOM – As had not started for an extended period, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
 
Race 7: SKY RACING Class 5 Handicap 1400 metres
 
COULDN'T REFUSE – Slow into stride.
 
KUZCO LAD – Hampered on jumping. Near the 900m raced keenly and had to be steadied from heels. Raced wide from the 800m.Approaching the 50m improved onto the heels of STATIC LIFT and was obliged to shift out.
 
PIVOTAL MOTION – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
CLASS OF ROYALTY – On arrival at the barriers the saddle on the horse was readjusted. Near the 900m was momentarily steadied from the heels of CHEVY NOVA which shifted in at that point when not fully clear. J Stanley, rider of CHEVY NOVA, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. Approaching the finish line raced in restricted room between COULDN’T REFUSE and STATIC LIFT which shifted in. O Webb, rider of STATIC LIFT, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
STORM HARBOUR – Bumped at the start.
 
POINT THE WAGON – Jumped out at the start and bumped STORM HARBOUR. Raced wide with cover for the majority of the event.
 
STATIC LIFT – Raced wide with cover for the majority of the event.
