Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting-Race 3 – WITHOUT SHAME – Les Tilley +1/2kg.Race 5 – VANDANGLE – Ryan Wiggins +1/2kg. Race 1: TAB 2YO CALCUTTA JANUARY QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1100 metres THE LUCKY ALIEN – Near the 1000m, shifted in abruptly. Raced greenly in the home straight. LEEANNIE – Cast its off-fore plate in running. Following the running of race 1, the track was downgraded to a soft 7, retrospective to include that race. Race 2: AQUIS $1.6M RACEDAY 7 JANUARY QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1650 metres The start was delayed to allow the broadcast of an interstate event. TIRITIRI – Attempted to shift out to improve on straightening, however was prevented from doing so by another runner, and as a result was disappointed for a run. RUFUS WINRIGHT – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. BOARDIE – Raced with its head in the air whilst being restrained in the early stages. Race 3: DUBIOUS 1ST YEARLINGS AT MAGIC MILLIONS Class 2 Handicap 1200 metres ZA HIDDEN DRAGON – Slow to begin. Jockey S Galloway advised that the gelding travelled reasonably until a point near the 600m, where when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding before weakening in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. GEORGIAN BAY – Began awkwardly. WITHOUT SHAME – Near the 700m, improved onto heels and shifted out. GREY SKIES – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the near-hind fetlock. Trainer R Drysdale was advised that the nomination of GREY SKIES would be rejected at all TAB meetings until a such time as its form improves at non-TAB meetings. SPARKY GIRL – Slow to begin. Following the running of race 3, the track was downgraded to a heavy 8. Race 4: BEAUDESERTRACECLUB.COM Maiden Plate 1400 metres DESTINATION SYDNEY – A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. GYPSY FOX – Began very awkwardly, losing ground. MAX'S SOURCE – Began awkwardly. GRYPHON – After beginning only fairly, was bumped shortly after the start and lost ground. BLISS – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. NEWMARKET MISS – Near the 400m, taken wider when awkwardly placed at heels. SNAP THE LUCK – Trainer L Richardson was fined $100, for the late rider notification. In assessing penalty, stewards took into account Mr Richardson’s prior good record. HALLSIDE WILDTHING – Near the 400m, taken wider when awkwardly placed at heels. LOVE ON DISPLAY – Began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. Approaching the 1200m whilst racing greenly, laid in bumping another runner and as a result shifted out abruptly. Race 5: TAB Class 5 Handicap 1650 metres The start was delayed to allow the broadcast of an interstate event. AVENUE OF STARS – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. LINCOLN TOWN – Began awkwardly. GEOSTORM – Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. TYCOON PLAYER – Failed to muster early speed and as a result settled further back than anticipated. Over raced during the middle stages. Race 6: TAB Class 1 Plate 1650 metres DANEROCK – From exiting the home straight on the first occasion, commenced to lay out and despite its riders efforts, shifted wider on the track. Rounding the home turn was steadied when momentarily placed in restricted room. DIAMOND BEANS – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils. As this was the second occasion on which the gelding had bled, it would now occur a life ban from racing. ENUNCIATION – Approaching the 1000m, was steadied when momentarily placed in restricted room. Held up for a short distance approaching the home turn. BAD INFLUENCE – Approaching the 1000m, steadied when awkwardly placed at heels. Approaching the 800m, forced wider on the track by another runner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the near hind leg. STELLAR – Passing the winning post on the first occasion, was tightened for room and eased when racing to the inside of DIAMOND BEANS which was taken in by SIBYLLA, which was taken in by BAD INFLUENCE, which shifted in whilst improving. Jockey P Hammersley, the rider of BAD INFLUENCE was advised to exercise more care. SIBYLLA – Approaching the 800m, whilst racing keenly, was steadied from heels and shifted out, forcing another runner wider on the track. Held up for a short distance approaching the home turn. Race 7: NYE RACES @ BEAUY Class 4 Handicap 1100 metres WRITTLE – Declared a late scratching at 1:01pm due to the track downgrade. ROGUE ROCKER – As the gelding had not raced in a period exceeding 12months, was examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to the event and passed fit to start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. THE KEWESS – Began awkwardly. Steadied from heels near the 900m. Race 8: SEASONS GREETINGS RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1200 metres PRETTY FLASH – Declared a late scratching at 1:18pm due to the track downgrade. BOLD RANSOM – Jockey Y Lewis reported that the gelding travelled comfortably throughout the event, however when placed under pressure from the 600m, failed to respond to her riding and in her opinion proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. METZARRO – Jockey C Bayliss had his licence suspended to ride in races for a period of 7 days for using his whip excessively in the event, that being on 17 occasions with the period of suspension to commence midnight the 28th of December 2022 and to expire midnight the 4th of January 2023. THAT'S A MIRACLE – Momentarily held up at the heels of a tiring runner rounding the home turn. POLE VOLTER – Began awkwardly. BLUE SMARTIE – Raced in restricted room shortly after the start and lost ground. DROP IT DEEP – Slow to begin.
