GENERAL
 
As jockey’s Damien Thornton, Boris Thornton and Andrew Spinks were not riding at today’s meeting for acceptable reasons, they were replaced as per the Stewards summary.
 
Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting-
 
Race 2 – IDLE DICE – Matthew Powell +1kg
Race 6 – HEROIC MISS – Michael Cahill +0.5kg
 
Jockey J Orman was fined $1000 pursuant to AR123(2) for having in his possession a safety vest that does not comply with standards prescribed by Racing Australia.
 
Jockey J Huxtable was fined $1000 pursuant to AR188(c) for attempting to weigh out for a race in a safety vest that is not approved.
 
 
Race 1: LIGHT HORSE BRIGADE QTIS Two-Year-Old Class 1 Plate 1400 metres
 
MISHANI PERFECTION – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
MISHANI AVIATOR – Inclined to lay in when weakening from the 300m.
 
PURVEYOR – Laid out under pressure in the home straight when racing greenly and passing the 100m, when corrected by its rider, shifted in abruptly crowding MISHANI MYSTIQUE. Trainer’s representative for B Laming was advised that a warning would be placed on the colt’s racing manners.
 
JUST A HERO – Jockey A Allen reported that his mount travelled comfortably in the run, however when placed under pressure in the home straight, was somewhat disappointing. Trainer M Currie advised Stewards that the filly would now be sent for a spell.
 
MISHANI MYSTIQUE – Crowded for room approaching the finish line.
 
PARIAH ON FIRE – Near the 300m, had to be steadied from the heels of PURVEYOR, which shifted in when racing greenly.
 
Race 2: BEAUDESERT CUP 8 JULY Maiden Handicap 2450 metres
 
LET'S PROSPER – After becoming fractious in the barriers, was removed, underwent a veterinary examination and was declared a late scratching by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice at 12:53pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on LET’S PROSPER be refunded with the following deductions to apply 

1st – 3c the win, 3c the place
2nd – 7c the place
3rd – 8c the place
 
A post-race veterinary examination revealed minor abrasions to both hind legs. Trainer J Laing was advised that the gelding would require a barrier certificate prior to next racing.
 
AMALGAMATION – Passing the 100m, crowded for room between IDLE DICE which shifted out under pressure and MARSHY which laid in under pressure. Both M Powell, rider of IDLE ICE and G Cartwright, rider of MARSHY, were advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
THINK D'ORO – When asked to comment on tactics adopted, apprentice B Wheeler stated that it was not his intention to lead, however after beginning well from the good barrier, led the event without pressuring the horse. When asked to comment on the disappointing performance, trainer M Morrison expressed disappointment and advised that the gelding would now be leaving his stable.
 
CHOOKY CHEERLEADER – Slow to begin.
 
TUSSAH – Held up passing the 400m until entering the home straight.
 
BADER – Restrained from the barriers to a rearward position close to the rail. Left a one-wide trailing position near the 1000m and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
MARSHY – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
 
Race 3: THE CLUB BEAUDESERT Maiden Handicap 1400 metres
 
ZETER – After taking charge of its rider in the preliminary, ZETER galloped a significant distance and was declared a late scratching by order of the stewards at 1:25pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on ZETER be refunded with the following deductions to apply –
 
1st – 1c the win, 1c the place
2nd – 2c the place
3rd – 2c the place
 
Trainer V Burton was advised that the gelding would have to officially trial prior to next racing.
 
CHESTNUTS – Having not raced in over 12months, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
NO DOUBLE DIPPING – Having not raced in over 12months, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Jumped in at the start and bumped heavily with LICENCE TO THRILL, which became unbalanced and lost ground.
 
KLANG BOY – Passing the 1300m, had to be steadied from the heels of TEQUILA NIGHTS which shifted in, and as a result a short distance later KLANG BOY shifted out, bumped heavily with ALL NEW HUSTLE, which in turn shifted out, taking FURTHERING wider on the track. Jockey J Huxtable was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be short striding behind. Trainer L Gough was advised that the horse would require a veterinary certificate prior to next racing.
 
FURTHERING – Jockey R Jamieson reported that after being bumped in the early stages, her mount never travelled comfortably in the race from that point. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be exhibiting clinical symptoms of cardiac arrythmia. Trainer H Norman was advised that the filly would require a veterinary certificate inclusive with the results of an ECG and to officially trial prior to next racing.
 
RAINEWATER – Slow to begin before mustering speed to lead.
 
ALL NEW HUSTLE – Raced wide throughout.
 
LICENCE TO THRILL – Became unbalanced and lost ground at the start.
 
Following the running of this race, the track was downgraded to a soft 5 retrospectively.
 
Race 4: DIGGERS CUP BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1650 metres
 
The start of this event was delayed when the tongue tie of PATMOS ISLAND had to be replaced, as a result this race ran 2 minutes late.
 
THE GOLDEN SOUL – Raced wide throughout. At the entrance of the home straight, was bumped by FORCE ME which shifted out to improve. In the early stages of the home straight the whip of apprentice D McGillivray became caught in the rein placing him at some disadvantaged.
 
PATMOS ISLAND – Made the crossing at the 1200m awkwardly and then commenced to over race for some distance thereafter.
 
BAD INFLUENCE (NZ) – Crowded for room between THE GOLDEN SOUL which jumped out and FOXY FRAULIN which jumped in. Over raced in the middle stages.
 
SHEZA FIRECRACKER – Approaching the home turn was held up for clear running.
 
AMERICAN PIONEER – Restrained at the start to a rearward position. Bumped when PATMOS ISLAND shifted out to improve near the 400m. Laid out in the early stages of the home straight.
 
COUNT ON ME (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 5: BEAUDESERT RACEDAY JUNE Class 2 Plate 1100 metres
 
AWESOME AUDREY – After refusing to proceed to the barriers, was declared a late scratching by order of the stewards at 2:36pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on AWSOME AUDREY be refunded with the following deductions to apply – 
 
1st – 3c the win, 4c the place
2nd – 3 the place
3rd – 9c the place
 
Trainer A Boyd was advised that the mare would be required to officially trial prior to next racing.
 
HOROWITZ – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
INVINCIBLE COURAGE (IRE) – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have suffered a bowed tendon to the off-fore. Trainer B Lockwood was advised that INVINCIBLE COURAGE would require a veterinary certificate prior to next racing.
 
CLAUDIUS – Slow to begin.
 
MICROWAVE JENNY – Slow to begin. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed the mare to have been struck in the eye by a clod in running.
 
CUDDLES – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 6: WE WILL REMEMBER THEM Class 2 Plate 1100 metres
 
SPEED MAP – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
STRIKING PLAINS (NZ) – Near the 400m, improved into a narrow run between UPPER CLASS GIRL and TOOMUCHINFORMATION which shifted in marginally resulting in both runners being taken in marginally and crowding LADY SHANGHAI which raced in restricted room and contacted the running rail at that point.
 
TOOMUCHINFORMATION – Raced wide throughout.
 
IMMORAL – Crowded at the start between HEROIC MISS and LADY SHANGHAI which was taken out by SPEED MAP.
 
UPPER CLASS GIRL – Slow to begin and shifted in. Over raced in the middle stages.
 
HEROIC MISS – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 7: LEST WE FORGET BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1400 metres

BLINDING LIGHT – After a confirmed phone call from trainer’s representative Mr M Eggleston, was declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 1:38pm due to transport issues.
 
NIGHT GUY – Jumped in at the start and bumped FLYBRIDGE. Bumped passing the 300m.
 
CALCAREOUS – Jumped out at the start and bumped FOUR MILE LANE. Raced wide throughout.
 
AIR OF ALSACE (NZ) – Passing the 200m, when shifting out to improve, bumped with NIGHT GUY which became unbalanced for a short distance.
 
DEEL WITH ME – Raced wide throughout. When asked to comment jockey M Murphy stated that DEEL WITH ME settled further back than anticipated, adding the gelding was not suited by the fast early pace of the race. Jockey Murphy added that in his opinion the gelding would be better suited to races over longer distances than that of todays event.
 
KOWLOON GEM – Having not raced in over 12months, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
ROADHOUSE – Raced wide throughout. Jockey M Hellyer reported that his mount didn’t appreciate todays prevailing track conditions.
 
FOUR MILE LANE – Passing the 300m, when over racing, was steadied from heels, shifted out and bumped NIGHT GUY.
 
Race 8: THE LAST POST RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1400 metres
 
MUWARRAD – Approaching the winning post, tightened for room between ICE ELITE which shifted out to improve and HEAT with shifted in marginally under pressure. Both apprentice D McGillivray, the rider of ICE ELITE and jockey K Zecher, the rider of HEAT, were advised to exercise greater care.
 
HEAT – After being kicked by another runner on arrival at the barriers, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
ICE ELITE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 100m, obliged to shift to the outside of the heels of RED HOT RUBIX to secure clear running.
 
AFRICAN STORM – Laid in when placed under pressure in the early part of the home straight and then had some difficulty obtaining clear running over the concluding stages.
 
EMPEROR'S SECRET – Approaching the finish line improved into a narrow run between LAYLA’S SONG and CUSHY, was crowded for room when CUSHY shifted in marginally, was taken inwards, resulting in LAYLA’S SONG having to steady.
 
BETTER STRINGS – Slow to begin and unable to muster speed in the early stages of the event. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey J Stanley reported that his mount was unable to muster speed in the early stages early and when asked to improve from the 600m, proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed signs of lameness in the off-hindleg. Trainer P Lindeberg was advised that the horse would require a veterinary certificate prior to next racing.
 
MANDO ROCK – Slow to begin.
 
MOTTRAM – Jumped in at the start and bumper HEAT.
