Stewards considered an objection lodged by Apprentice A. Graham, the rider of the second placed BRAVE WARRIOR, against DESTINY’S REPUBLIC (Apprentice C. Krahnen) being declared the winner, alleging interference inside the final 100m. On the evidence, Stewards were of the view that near the 50m DESTINY’S REPUBLIC shifted in under pressure when not clear resulting in BRAVE WARRIOR being checked and losing its running. Despite the interference caused to BRAVE WARRIOR, Stewards were of the view that had the interference not occurred, BRAVE WARRIOR would still not have finished ahead of DESTINY’S REPUBLIC at the end of the race and therefore the objection was dismissed, and correct weight was given on the judges semaphored numbers.
