QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT GOLD COAST TURF CLUB @ BEAUDESERT BEAUDESERT 6TH JULY 2024 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Soft 7 RAIL – True Entire Course OFFICIALS Stewards – B. Wright (Chair), R. Hanson, K. Daly, D. McMahon; S. Borg, L. De Witt – Rowson (Cadets) GENERAL Stewards permitted Apprentice J. Busuttin to claim 1 of her 4kg allowance in Race 1 (WHATTA WHITT) and claim 2 of her 2kg allowance in Race 2 (LITTLE IFFY). Trainer V. Venkaya was fined $100 pursuant to LR 68(1) for failing to scratch LUCIFER THE CAT (Race 1) by the prescribed time. When assessing penalty, account was taken of his failure to withdraw the horse, had not cost another runner a start in the race. Trainer D. Batters was fined $100 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare riders in Race 2 (PARTY FOR US) and Race 3 (ONE IN ALL) by the prescribed time. Race 1: SOUTH PLACE DEEBING HEIGHTS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 M SUENITO - Underwent pre-race veterinary examination behind the barriers after being kicked by another runner, sustaining a laceration to the near hind leg and was subsequently declared a late withdrawal at 12:01pm. Trainer R. Lyford was advised the gelding would require veterinary clearance prior to resuming. On the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets on SUENITOto be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:1st - TAMAHAGANE– 9c c win, 7c place. 2nd - BEANS MEANS – 12c place. 3rd - WHATTA WHITT – 8c place. BEANS MEANS – Raced keen in the early stages. REGAL KING – Slow to begin. HOT PEACH – Slow to begin (2L). WHATTA WHITT – Apprentice J. Busuttin reported she was asked to be positive from the gates, however; she was in two minds as to trying to take a sit behind the leaders or hold her position and as the gelding was racing keenly, she elected to race wide outside the lead without cover. Race 2: BEAUMOOR - PICTURE LIFE HERE QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1100 M WHISKY A GO GO – Began awkwardly. PARTY FOR US – Slow to begin. Passing the 400m, eased when tightened between ZEPHYRZ ZOOM (C. Krahnen), which commenced to shift out and MISHANI DELT (T. Orr), which shifted in slightly before being contacted on the hindquarters, turning the filly in further. In the circumstances, Apprentice C. Krahnen was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding and Apprentice T. Orr was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. MISHANI DELTA – Raced wide for the majority. ZEPHYRZ ZOOM – When under pressure in the home straight, laid in. Race 3: BEAUMOOR - CREATE HOME RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1100 M BOOMI'S BUDDY – Slow to begin. GREY EFFECTS – Bumped shortly after the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight and proved difficult to ride. ONE IN ALL– Raced wide without cover. SHORE TO HAPPEN – Shifted out shortly after the start and bumped GREY EFFECTS. Had difficulty obtaining clear running approaching and rounding the home turn. CURRY LEGEND – Shifted out on jumping. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. FOREBEARS – Rider R. Jamieson reported from the wide gate, she was asked to have the gelding in a forward position as has been the instructions previously, and consequently settled outside the lead. MISHANI PERSUASION – Began awkwardly. Race 4: BEAUMOOR - MORE IN BEAUDESERT BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1100 M MORT DOYLE – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority. BETTER RAIN – When attempting a tight run between MAGURO and SONNY DAZE approaching the 200m, steadied from the heels of MAGURO when that gelding shifted out slightly and SONNY DAZE, which shifted in slightly away from ZOUPERB (J. McMurray), which was improving quickly on the outside and shifted in. Apprentice J. McMurray was notified he must endeavour to keep his mount straight in similar circumstances. Race 5: BEAUMOOR BEAUDESERT CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200 M PRE EMINENCE – Shifted out abruptly on jumping and tightened SWANIC BOOM onto HIT, which contacted the hindquarters of PRIVATE TENDER, which turned that gelding sideways. Approaching the winning post, jumped the shadow of the inside advertisement board. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have lost both hind plates. PRIVATE TENDER – Contacted on the hindquarters leaving the gates and turned sideways. ROLLING ROCK – Raced wide without cover for the majority. SHEER REWARD – Slow into stride. Held up for a run when passing the 400m until approaching the 200m. HIT – Tightened at the start. Raced keen in the early stages. SWANIC BOOM – Tightened at the start. EVERLAST – As Apprentice J. Busuttin was unable to make the weight, she was replaced by Apprentice C. Krahnen. The explanation tendered by Apprentice J. Busuttin was accepted. Slow into stride and then tailed the field for a considerable distance. Race 6: MOREMAC. INSPIRING PLACES RATINGS BAND 0 - 62 HANDICAP 1400 M GOOGAZ – Raced wide without cover from the 700m. Apprentice C. Krahnen dropped her whip near the 50m. OUTWITTED – Began awkwardly. GLASS OF ROSE – Connections advised a change in tactics, to be ridden further forward from the wide gate. Led. BORN TO BE ALIVE – Began awkwardly. Rider M. Cahill reported the gelding races best when leading, however; due to the fast early tempo today, was unable to do so and settled behind the lead. Trainer A. Chau agreed and added the gelding is better suited to heavy conditions. REAL MINT – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Following the running of this race, rider S. Cormack was examined by QAS officials and stood down from his remaining engagement due to dehydration. Race 7: BEAUMOOR BEAUDESERT CUP BENCHMARK 70 Handicap (1650 METRES) Prior to presenting into the enclosure, it was identified NEVER GIVE UP (K. Zechner) and VANTAN EXPRESS (C. Sutherland) had been saddled incorrectly with the others saddle cloth number. The riders of both horses were asked to re-weigh and the correct saddle cloths were fitted to the horse’s gear before being re-presented. The evidence disclosed that both riders had included with their gear, the incorrect saddle cloth. Co-Trainer C. Geran (NEVER GIVE UP) and Trainer M. Renehan (VANTAN EXPRESS) acknowledged they failed check the saddle cloth number when saddling their horses. Subsequently, both trainers were fined $100 each pursuant to AR 106(1). When assessing penalty, account was taken for their good record and circumstances involved. Apprentice C. Sutherland and Jockey K. Zechner were notified they must ensure that they include the correct saddle cloth for their mounts when weighing out. WHY WE DRINK – Bumped with DIACO shortly after the start. Raced very keenly in the early stages and refused to settle. Raced wide without cover from the 1200m before being allowed to stride and join the leaders near the 700m. DIACO – Bumped with WHY WE DRINK shortly after the start and shifted out. Raced keenly with its head up in the early stages. FUN SPONGE – Began awkwardly. SPILL THE SECRET – Held up for a run from the 400m until approaching the 200m. NEVER GIVE UP – Slow to begin. ALL'S FAIR Slow to begin. Held up for a run from the 300m until the passing the 200m and was then momentarily inconvenienced when SHADYVALE STORM shifted in. VANTAN EXPRESS – Began awkwardly. SNATCH (NZ) – Shortly after the start, steadied when tightened between MISHANI SPARTAN which shifted in, and DIACO which shifted out after being bumped. Held up for a run from the 300m until passing the 100m. Race 8: SIMON HANCOCK MEMORIAL Maiden Handicap (1650 METRES) KAREEM – Tightened at the start between PANDA DRUM, which shifted in and STELLAR TRIXIE, which jumped awkwardly and shifted out. TINY WONDER – Began awkwardly. PANDA DRUM – Shifted in at the start. Raced wide without cover passing the 1400m. GOOD KARMA – Slow to begin. Apprentice J. Williams reported he was unable to ride the mare over the concluding stages due to PANDA DRUM shifting in. STELLAR TRIXIE – As rider S. Cormack was stood down from his remaining engagements, he was replaced by Apprentice C. Waddell. Began awkwardly and shifted out on jumping. Apprentice C. Waddell reported from the wide draw, she was asked to be more forward on the filly and without too much effort settled just off the pace.
