QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT GOLD COAST TURF CLUB @ BEAUDESERT MONDAY 12 AUGUST 2024 WEATHER – ShowersTRACK RATING – Soft 5, Soft 6 at 11:46am, Heavy 10 at 1:15pm (28ml since scratching time)RAIL – True OFFICIALS Stewards – B. Wright (Chair) S. Fletcher, D. McMahon, O. Legg, S. Borg (Cadet) GENERALAs J. Bayliss was indisposed, Stewards permitted the rider changes as per the Race Day Summary. Approximately 1 hour prior to the commencement of the meeting, the track experienced a down pour of rain (28ml). After the rain had ceased, Stewards and a delegation of riders inspected the track where a point of concern raised was an area leading up to the crossing at the 1200m and the crossing itself. Riders discussed the matter amongst themselves, noting the first race was over 1300m and runners would only be pulling up after the race at a point near the crossing. The riders agreed to ride in the first race and discuss about the prospect of riding in race two following Race 1. On this basis, Race one was run at a new race time of 1.45pm and Race two at 2.17pm. Race 1: TAB WE'RE ON MAIDEN HANDICAP 1300 M VICTORY MELODY – Raced greenly in the early stages. GAME OF THRONUM – Lost it’s footing behind on leaving the gates and was tailed out for the remainder of the event. YOU KAY SQUEEZE – Slow into stride. When under pressure after the 150m, shifted out obliging rider S. Collett to stop riding and straighten the mare. In the run to the winning post, laid in. CRIMSON ECHO – Apprentice D. Evans was reprimanded pursuant to AR 132(5) for using his whip excessively over the final 100m. (11 occasions) REVELLING – When the start was effected, slipped badly, knuckled and left the gates awkwardly. MIDNIGHT IN AUSTIN – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 2: TAB QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1400 M The start of this event was delayed by several minutes due to NEVADA DREAMING being difficult to load. Trainer T. Churchill was advised a warning would be recorded against the filly for its barrier manners. GREEN MEADOWS – Passing the 150m, was bumped by MOET AT MIDNIGHT MOET AT MIDNIGHT – Raced three wide without cover for the majority. AIMA SUN – Began awkwardly, then was hampered when CHERRY LIPS shifted in abruptly. Hampered and carried wider approaching the 200m by CHERRY LIPS (M. Hellyer), which shifted out. Rider M. Hellyer was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for this incident. CHERRY LIPS – Shifted in on jumping. NEVADA DREAMING – Near the 900m, was hampered when MISHANI VOLTAGE dipped and shifted out before being corrected. SPIRITED – Passing the 700m, blundered and laid out thereafter. After the running of this race, riders approached Stewards and raised concerns about the deteriorating track, its safety and the visibility being experienced. The riding group gave consideration to continuing and reported back to Stewards that the majority of riders were not prepared to continue riding. After discussion, and noting some horses were experiencing footing issues, Stewards decided to abandon the remainder of the meeting at 2:45pm.
