GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting:
 
Race 3 – CRACKER ESSGEE – M. Murphy +1kg (55kg)
Race 4 – LADY DEANNE – M. Murphy +1kg (55kg)
 
Race 1: PRYDES EASIFEED CLASS 2 PLATE  1650M
 
DECARBONISE – Near the 100m, held up and disappointed for a run before being obliged to steady and shift out across the heels of FLYING BAT to obtain clear running.
 
BOBBY SHIRAZ (NZ) – Fractious after being loaded into the gates. Slow to begin. Near the 400m, when attempting to shift out to improve, bumped with NEWMARKET MISS on a number of occasions.
 
FLYING BAT – Began awkwardly.
 
LONERGY – Slow to begin.
 
MAPLE DOOR – Passing the winning post on the first occasion, laid out and became awkward for some distance.
 
VERMEER – Began awkwardly. Jockey N. Masuda advised that the gelding was first up from a 3-month break and would derive significant fitness benefit from today’s race, adding that in his opinion VERMEER is better suited in races over a longer distance than that of today.
 
INDENTED HEAD – Cast its off-hind plate in running.
 
NEWMARKET MISS – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Passing the 400m, bumped on a number of occasions with BOBBY SHIRAZ when that runner attempted to shift out to improve.
 
Race 2: PRYDES EASIFEED THREE CLASS 2 HANDICAP  1200M
 
SECRET SPY – Slow to begin. Passing the 400m, held up on the heels of the tiring ABLETT before being obliged to shift wider rounding the home turn.
 
MIDNIGHT DRIFTER – Reared at the start and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority. Trainer G. Heinrich was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding for its barrier manners. Jockey M. Murphy, rider of fifth placegetter MIDNIGHT DRIFTER, was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount out fully to end of the race.
 
SAXON SLAYER – Slow to begin. Jockey J. Murphy reported the gelding hung out badly throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer J. Dunn was advised that the gelding would be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to next racing.
 
SHINTARO LASS – Taken wider rounding the home turn when SECRET SPY shifted out.
 
Race 3: PRYDES EASIFEED EASIPERFORMANCE OPEN HANDICAP  1100M
 
BARONESSA – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after sustaining an abrasion to the hip whilst being transported and was cleared to start. Weakened when placed under pressure from the 400m. Trainer M. Wilson was of the opinion the mare may have displaced its soft palate and it would be his intention to have an endoscopic examination carried out on BARONESSA in the coming days and would follow up with Stewards with those results.
 
KIPTANUI – Slow to begin.
 
HODGSON – Raced wide throughout.
 
MAXIMUM VORTEX – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
CELESTIAL SOL – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
CRACKER ESSGEE – Slow to begin.
 
Race 4: PRYDES EASIFEED RACING CUBE MAIDEN HANDICAP  1650M
 
HONOUR BRIGHT – After being loaded into the barriers, reared resulting in both forelegs becoming cast. Was removed, underwent a vet examination and declared a late scratching at 2:26pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on HONOUR BRIGHT be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st place DULVERTON CHARM – 1c the win, 6c the place
2nd place NOCTILUCENT – 4c the place
3rd place n/a
 
NOCTILUCENT – Laid out rounding the home turn. Jockey A. Thompson reported that his mount which was having its second race start, was not suited by the tight turning track.
DULVERTON CHARM – Near the 1400m, had to be steadied from the heels of TRAPEZE FLYER when the pace of the race eased, shifted out and progressed forward to lead the event from the 800m.
 
TRAPEZE FLYER – Raced keenly for a short distance near the 1100m when being restrained in an attempt to obtain cover.
 
LADY DEANNE – Weakened from the 800m. When asked to comment, Jockey M. Murphy stated the mare did not feel comfortable in its action from the 800m and for this reason he desisted from pressuring his mount. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in both forelegs. Trainer R. Cameron was advised that the mare would require a veterinary clearance, including radiographs and must also trial satisfactorily prior to racing again. Trainer R. Cameron advised Stewards that LADY DEANNE would now be leaving his stable.
 
SHE'LL GO BOOM – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 700m, was heavily bumped and lost ground. At a subsequent inquiry, jockey B. Newport, the rider of TRAPEZE FLYER pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that near the 700m, he permitted his mount to shift in, crowding the running of SHE’LL GO BOOM, resulting in that runner being bumped, becoming unbalanced and losing ground. Jockey Newport’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence midnight 5th of November 2024 and to expire midnight 12th of November 2024. When considering penalty, Stewards took into account jockey Newport’s record in relation to this rule, guilty plea and level of carelessness.
 
Race 5: PRYDES EASIFEED ENERGYPAK BM62 HANDICAP  1400M
 
The start of this race was delayed approximately 4 minutes when OUR FREE SPIRIT cast its off-fore plate on route to the barriers and required to be re-fitted. OUR FREE SPIRIT subsequently underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
MAN IN THE MIRROR – Raced wide throughout.
 
SARSEN – Slow to begin.
 
LITTLE CHARMER – Slow to begin. Raced wide from the 700m.
 
Race 6: PRYDES EASIFEED EASILYTE MAIDEN HANDICAP  1200M
 
The start of this race was significantly delayed when VIDEO VIXEN became fractious in the barriers, reared, resulting in the mare becoming cast. The race was further delayed when a snake was found on the track in the vicinity of the winning post. This race was run at 3:58pm and was effected manually by the starter.
 
VIDEO VIXEN was declared a late scratching at 3:46pm on veterinary advice after becoming cast for some time in the barriers. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on VIDEO VIXEN be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
1st place WARRIOR CHIEF – 24c the win, 28c the place
2nd place TORERA – 17c the place
3rd place n/a
 
A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have lacerations on the near-hind leg. Trainer G. Heinrich was advised that the mare would require a veterinary clearance and would have to obtain further barrier certificate prior to next racing. Jockey C. Taylor was examined by the QAS officials and cleared of any injuries.
 

DIVAS REIGN – Began awkwardly and jumped in. Laid out under pressure.
 
GOLD FLOURISH – Weakened when placed under pressure from the 500m.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer G Hutchesson advised Stewards that the mare would be sent for a spell however was advised that GOLD FLOURISH would be barred from tab meetings until its form improves at non-tab meetings and would be required to officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to next racing.
 
TORERA– Laid in under pressure approaching the 100m before being corrected by its rider.
 
CHERRY POP – Stewards noted the explanation from trainer J. Quilligan for the late declaration of rider. Jumped out at the start. Raced keenly for a short distance near the 900m when being restrained to obtain cover.
 
WARRIOR CHIEF – Jumped in at the start.
 
SUPER SWEET – Laid in under pressure.
 
SLIM PICKINGS – Declared a late scratching at 7:44am by the Stewards for acceptable reasons.
