Co-trainer Corey Munce was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for hanging out.

Race 3: SILKS UNDER THE STARS JAN 24TH RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1100 M
ANARCHY – Hung out from the 700m until approaching the 100m and raced wide without cover.
EPIC FLASH – Rider J. Guthmann-Chester reported the gelding, which was first up from a break and racing for a new stable, was not suited to the fast early tempo. He added EPIC FLASH would be better suited when able to lead unchallenged. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
KILDARE (NZ) – On leaving the gates, was buffeted between HIT and TAPIS MAGIQUE.
ALL ENGLAND – Held up for clear running from approaching the 400m until passing the 300m; and again, from the 250m until approaching the 150m. Held up for clear running over the final 50m of the event.

The track was upgraded to a Good 4 at 2:31pm.
Race 4: OFFICIATING AT AQUIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M
The start of this race was delayed by approximately two (2) minutes due to rider J. Taylor being harmlessly dislodged after leaving the enclosure and his mount SOUND THE BUGLE undergoing a pre-race veterinary examination after becoming loose. The start was further delayed owing to RAINBOW LASS being re-saddled.
KOBE ASCOT – Raced keenly in the early stages. Commenced a three wide run from passing the 600m. When questioned, rider S. Collett explained the gelding was racing with the blinkers off today, with the hope it would settle better than when it raced at Kilcoy on 2 January 2025. She added shortly after leaving the gates when racing tight, she elected to steady and consequently settle further back than she had wished. She added in hindsight, it may have been preferable at that point in that race, to hold that position, which would have allowed her to then improve to race closer to the speed.
SHAKE'N'BAKE – Got its head up when racing in restricted room when tight to the inside of SOUND THE BUGLE, which was tight to the inside of RAINBOW LASS passing the 1000m.
TORONADO DELUXE – When questioned, Apprentice J. Williams stated with the fast early speed of runners drawn inside, he elected from the wide gate to come back and find cover on the gelding, which was having its first race start. He added from this point on, he was obliged to place the gelding under pressure for the majority of the race, and consequently ran to the line well. He said in hindsight, it would have been better to apply more pressure in the early stages to maintain a more forward position, although slightly wider, to allow the gelding to be better placed in the run.
WITHEREN LASS – On leaving the gates, got its head up and lost ground when tightened onto TORONADO DELUXE by SHADYVALE AL, which began awkwardly and was bumped by RAINBOW LASS. Raced keenly in the early stages. Rider A. Allen reported the mare did not feel right in its action in front. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
SHADYVALE AL – Began awkwardly and bumped on leaving the gates.
Race 5: TAB WE'RE ON BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200 M
BADGERS NUTS (NZ) – Checked at the start between EXECUTIVE STRESS, which shifted in and SUKHBIR, which shifted out.
EXECUTIVE STRESS – Trainer D. Forster was fined $200 pursuant to LR 67(1) for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time. Connections advised a change of tactics, to be ridden further forward. Settled behind the lead.
FIGHTING IDOL – Had difficulty obtaining clear running over the concluding stages.
ATOMIC SELFIE – When questioned, rider L. Tarrant stated he was instructed by the stable to be positive on the mare. Trainer B. Ahrens added at the first start for the stable on the 28 December 2024, the rider was also asked to be positive on the mare; however, due to circumstances, was obliged to steady and find cover. He added, whilst the intention was to be positive, it was not to lead but given rider L. Tarrant would have been caught wide, he understood his actions in pressing on to cross to the fence.
HEYOKA – Raced three wide without cover for the majority.
PHOENIX GLOBAL – Checked at the start between EXECUTIVE STRESS, which shifted in and SUKHBIR, which shifted out.
SARSEN – Began awkwardly.
Race 6: STRONGER FIRST FOALS RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1400 M

WHAT A WEEKEND – Approaching the 300m, was momentarily steadied from the heels of BENEDICT ARNOLD.
HOOKS (NZ) – Raced four wide without cover for the majority.
SHANNON'S LEGACY – Held up for clear running from passing the 400m until passing the 200m. When questioned regarding his riding of the mare, particularly in the home straight, rider J. Guthmann-Chester said with the expected fast tempo, he was looking to settle behind the lead; however, the mare did not show its usual early speed and settled further back than expected. He said SHANNON’S LEGACY hung out in the middle stages and approaching the home turn; and he felt the mare was commencing to feel the track conditions. He added for this reason, he did not place SHANNON’S LEGACY under pressure over the final 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Rider J. Guthmann-Chester was notified his lack of vigour on SHANNON’S LEGACY particularly in the home straight came under notice, and he was reprimanded pursuant to AR 105(d) for failing to report any condition or occurrence that may affect the horses performance in the race as soon as practical.

AUTUNNO – Slow to begin. Approaching the 100m, was steadied and shifted to the out to obtain clear running.
WITCH DAY – Shortly after the start, checked when tightened between LONDON POINT (NZ), which shifted in slightly and PASSIONATE REBEL, which after being carried out slightly by MOUNT ZION then shifted some ground. When making ground quickly, near the 100m, steadied when tightened between BORN TO BE ALIVE and AUTUNNO (J. Murphy), which shifted out to improve. Rider J. Murphy was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding in this incident. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
