GENERAL
 
Due to the abandonment of the Albury thoroughbred meeting, race times for today were amended as follows:
Race 1: 1:45pm
Race 2: 2:25pm
Race 3: 3:05pm
Race 4: 3:40pm
Race 5: 4:15pm
Race 6: 4:50pm
 
Stewards permitted the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting:
Race 5: TYPHOON TIP – L Tilley 56.5kgs (+0.5kg)
Race 6: TOO MUCH MAKEUP – L Tilley 56.5kgs (+1kg)
 
As R Wiggins was to be overweight in race five (SHAPIN POWER) and six (ATOMIC SELFIE), riding replacements were made as per the race day summary sheet. R Wiggins was fined $300 under AR190(3) for accepting two rides when overweight.
 

Race 1: JONKER FIRST YEARLINGS 2025 MAIDEN HANDICAP 1100 M
 
INNERVISIONS – Lost its off fore plate in running.
 
WAITING FOR GRAHAM – Jumped out at the start. Raced greenly at various stages of the event and as a result laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
NOVADAN – Near the 1000m shifted out making heavy contact with SHE’S MY LADY which became unbalanced and shifted out and bumped WAITING FOR GRAHAM which in turn became unbalanced. When unsaddling, rider M. Hellyer was contacted by NOVADAN, was examined by QAS staff and cleared to fulfill his remaining engagements.
 
REMEMBER SUE – Slow to begin.
 
SHEEZ BRUTAFUL – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Near the 300m contacted the running rail and became unbalanced. Near the 100m was steadied when momentarily tightened for room by PREACHABULL which was initially taken in by SHE’S MY LADY before being corrected by its rider. Rider J Taylor reported the filly was inclined to lay in for the majority of the event and was also making an abnormal breathing noise at the completion of the raced. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Trainer B Robinson was advised a warning would be placed on the racing manners of SHEEZ BRUTAFUL.
 
PREACHABULL – Near the 100m improved into a narrow run between SHEEZ BRUTAFUL and SHE’S MY LADY and shifted in. Apprentice C Krahnen, rider of PREACHABULL, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
SHE'S MY LADY – Laid in momentarily near the 100m before being corrected by its rider.
 
 
Race 2: TAB WE'RE ON CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1650 M
 
GOOGAZ – Raced wide in the early stages before progressing forward to lead the event from the 1200m.
 
MOUNT ZION – Knuckled on jumping.
 
SARSEN – Rider A Thompson was reprimanded under AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount out fully to the end of the race.
 
NEOCLASSICISM – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SPOKE TO RAJIV – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
BIE'RES – Made the 1200m crossing awkwardly.Raced three wide from the 900m. When asked to comment on tactics adopted in leading the event in contrast to its most recent starts when settling in a rearward position, apprentice J Metcalfe stated instructions were to ride the mare in a forward position. Trainer W Nugent was advised of his obligations under AR100(1)(a) to notify Stewards of any instruction or arrangement to the effect that a horse is to be ridden in a manner different to how it was ridden at its most recent start or starts.
 
 
Race 3: STRONGER FIRST FOALS CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1100 M
 
MY ELOISE – Blundered badly on jumping resulting in apprentice R Thorburn becoming very awkward in the saddle, losing significant ground and dislodging the near fore plate. When asked to comment, R Thorburn advised the mare failed to travel at any stage of the event and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
CHIEF WITNESS – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers.Began awkwardly and then shifted in contacting MISS ZERMATT and losing ground. Steadied from heels near the 800m.
 
DEPUTIZE – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event.
 
COUNT NICHOLAS – Rider E Chavez was reminded of his obligations under AR132(5) of use of the whip in an excessive manner.
 
MISS ZERMATT – Began awkwardly and then bumped becoming unbalanced.
 
CRAIGLEA LA VIE – Proved difficult to load. Trainer K Johnston was advised a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of the mare.
 
DIVINE RENDEZVOUS – Checked near the 800m. At a subsequent inquiry J Guthmann-Chester, the rider of DEPUTIZE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that near the 800m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of COUNT NICHOLAS which was taken in resulting in DIVINE RENDEZVOUS being checked and losing its rightful running. The license of J Guthmann-Chester to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 9th February up to and including 17th February 2025.
 
 
Race 4: OFFICIATING AT AQUIS RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1100 M
 
GREY EFFECTS – When asked to comment on the performance rider R Wiggins was of the opinion the gelding did not appreciate racing tightly between runners between the 700m and 400m and was not disappointed in the performance.
 
GOOD RESULTS – Bumped on jumping and lost ground. When asked to comment on the performance, rider R Curatolo stated that after being slowly away he was unable race in a forward position. He added that the gelding resented racing in behind other runners and commenced to over-race approaching the 800m until near the 600m, which he felt had an effect on the overall performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
TAPIS MAGIQUE – Rounding the home turn shifted to the inside of GOOD RESULTS to obtain clear running.
 
JUST FOR PLEASURE – Jumped out at the start.
 
PROMETIO MAS – Jumped in at the start. Near the 800m taken out when crowded for room between GALLERY MASTER and GOOD RESULTS (R Curatolo) which shifted out when over-racing. R Curatolo was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Raced wide throughout. Following the race rider J Murphy reported he had jarred his left thumb during the event.
 
GALLERY MASTER – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
POWERWOLF – Began awkwardly.
 
ICY ISEA – Inconvenienced when crowded for room shortly after the start.
 
LUCKY SHAM – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in both hind legs. Trainer S Sixtus was advised the mare would require a veterinary certificate prior to its next race start.
 
 
Race 5: BEAUDESERTRACECLUB.COM RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1400 M
 
Correct weight was delayed allowing J Guthmann-Chester, rider of third placegetter SHAPIN POWER and connections, to view the photo finish image for second. After doing so correct weight was declared on the semaphored placings.
 
AROUND THE BUOY – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout the event.
 
ALL VALOUR – Change of tactics, to be ridden further back if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
FAT FINGERS – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
THUNDEROUS – Declared a late scratching at 12:53pm after the gelding was found to have inflammation in the near foreleg. Trainer M Wilson was advised THUNDEROUS would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
TYPHOON TIP – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
REACHOVER – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 6: AQUIS BEAUDESERT RACEDAY 13TH MARCH BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400 M
 
EXECUTIVE STRESS – After being loaded into the barriers, lunged forward, was removed, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Near the 300m checked and lost ground after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of the weakening SCENIC ROOM. Following the event trainer D Forster reported EXECUTIVE STRESS had suffered lacerations to the head. Stewards will follow up with Ms Forster the condition of the gelding in the following days.
 
LIETUVA – Tightened for room rounding the home turn between BETATHANEVA and CASROCK, which after being checked from heels shifted out.
 
CASROCK – Jumped out at the start. Rounding the home turn checked from the heels of the SCENIC RIM which shifted out when weakening.
 
SCENIC RIM – Weakened from the 500m.When asked to comment on the disappointing performance,rider S Cormack reported the gelding travelled comfortably in the early stages however did not respond to his riding when placed under pressure from the 500m and weakened rapidly from approaching the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer D Murphy was advised SCENIC RIM must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
 
ATOMIC SELFIE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.
 
BETATHANEVA – Jumped in at the start. Raced wide throughout.
 
TOO MUCH MAKEUP – Steadied from heels near the 350m.Checked rounding the home turn from the heels of EXECUTIVE STRESS which in turn was checked from the heels of the weakening SCENIC RIM.
 
HAYAKU – Tightened between runners on jumping and lost ground. Inconvenienced and forced wide rounding the home turn by TOO MUCH MAKEUP which was checked from the heels of EXECUTIVE STRESS and shifted out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the outside of the off foreleg.
