On returning to scale, Jockey P. Romeo the rider of the TICKET TO DALLAS (Fourth place getter) lodged a protest against BONDI BATTLE (Jockey B. Powell) which was placed third, alleging interference over the concluding stages. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the patrol footage, Stewards were not satisfied that interference between the two runners could warrant a reversal of the placings given the margin between the two runners at the conclusion of the event and furthermore the distance in which the incident occurred from the winning post. Stewards subsequently dismissed the protest and ordered the placings to stand.
