QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT BELL JOCKEY CLUB SATURDAY 4th JANUARY 2025 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – SOFT 6 OFFICIALS Stewards – S Coulthard (Chair), D MacDonald GENERAL Jockey R Payne was unable to attend todays meeting due to personal reasons. Race 1:MANEY TPT/NUTRIEN/ELDERS/WR CRANES/ BELL TOURIST PARK/GREENAWAY/WARREGO WATER/DALBY CU MAIDEN PLATE 1300mCASINO CAT – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. KANSAS SUN – Over-raced early. Approaching the 700m was momentarily inconvenienced and shifted wider when PIRATE SHIP (App L O’Donnell) shifted in. PIRATE SHIP – Slow to begin. Approaching the 700m shifted in to obtain a position on the rail. App L O’Donnell was reminded of her obligations when shifting ground. FLYING WARRIOR – Laid out when being hard ridden to the line. MONGOLIAN FLAME – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. GREAT ANGLES – Raced wide throughout. Race 2: FGH CIVIL BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1300m ARTIE’S DYNAMITE – Shifted wider approaching the 700m to obtain clear racing room when the pace slackened. HYDROS – Held up for clear running from the 200m-50m. SENSE OF HUMOUR – Slow to begin. Shifted wider approaching the 700m to obtain clear racing room when the pace slackened.AURELIAN BLANC – Slow to muster early speed. BEAN ALL OVA – Slow to begin. GERTAINE – Over-raced in the early and middle stages. THE STORM – App C Lowe replaced R Payne. Stewards permitted an overweight of +2.5kg as there were no other suitable riders available. Race 3: BMO BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200m LEGEND OF ZORRO – Jumped away awkwardly. THREE GONGS – Slow to begin. CRACKER ESSGEE – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. FINESSE TESS – When questioned, Jockey D Boutet stated the mare travelled well however when placed under pressure proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be mildly lame in the right fore and to be experiencing a slow post-race recovery. Trainer M Hill was advised the mare would require a vet clearance prior to racing again. RAVERA – Slow into stride. MISHANI PHAROAH – Raced wide throughout. Race 4: DALBY RURAL SUPPLIES QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1000m NEWELL BEACH – Shifted in abruptly prior to the winning post when the gelding shied. QUARTER RED – Over-raced early. Restrained and shifted wider approaching the 700m to avoid heels of BRAIDWOOD PRINCE which contacted the inside running rail. Momentarily hampered approaching the finish line when NEWELL BEACH shifted in. SAPANA’S PEARL – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Apprentice G Semmens pleaded guilty to a charge to careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that approaching the 50m she allowed her mount to shift out under pressure resulting in SMALL DOSES being checked and losing its rightful running. App G Semmens’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 5 days to commence midnight the 10th of January 2025 and to expire midnight the 15th January 2025. In considering the matter Stewards noted and inward shift from TSUKINO which contributed to the interference incurred by SMALL DOSES. Apprentice Semmens was advised of her right to an appeal TSUKINO - Apprentice J Molloy pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that he allowed his mount to shift in under pressure approaching the 50m resulting in SMALL DOSES being checked and losing its rightful running. Apprentice J Molloy’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 days to commence midnight the 4th of January 2025 and to expire midnight the 10th January 2025. In considering the matter Stewards noted and outward shift from SAPANA’S GIRL which contributed to the interference incurred by SMALL DOSES. Apprentice Molloy was advised of his right to an appeal. VADAMOON – Rider T Banks reported the mare hung out from the 300m and wasn’t fully tested to the line, he also added the mare may benefit with the addition of a bubble cheeker to its gear. MERRON DARCY- Slow to begin. RESTLESS LADY – Slow into stride. SMALL DOSES – Restrained and shifted wider approaching the 700m to avoid heels of BRAIDWOOD PRINCE which contacted the inside running rail. Tightened before being checked approaching the 50m, between TSUKINO (J Molloy) and SAPANA’S GIRL (G Semmens) when both runners shifted ground. BRAIDWOOD PRINCE - Approaching the 700m contacted the inside running rail resulting in SMALL DOSES (C Meehan) and QUARTER RED (App C Lowe) being restrained and forced to shift wider. Race 5:GILLILAND LIVESTOCK MARKETINGBENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1000m SUNIKI – Raced wide throughout. DUCHESS OF MILAN – Slow to begin. App C Lowe stated that the mare did not handle the track conditions. MISS GABBIANO - Raced wide throughout. SUTHERLAND – Raced wide throughout. PRIOR THOUGHTS – Slow into stride. ONE LAST TRICK – When questioned, Jockey H Richardson stated the gelding travelled well early until placed under pressure and proved disappointing in its finishing effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
