Race 2: BIRDSVILLE BAKERY/LANDMARK (QUILPIE) CLASS 5 H’CAP – 1200M MAMBO FEVER – Was declared a late scratching at 1.35pm when no rider was available.BASHAN – Slow to begin.SANVEL – On return to scale the gelding was found to have suffered a bleeding attack during in the race. As this was its first offence and acting under the provisions of AR53A trainer R. Robb was advised SANVEL would incur the mandatory three month ban from racing and must gallop 1000m in the presence of a Steward before being permitted to race again. Race 3: GEORGE BOURNE & ASSOCIATES/IOR ENERGY QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1000MBOSS DROVER – Slow to begin. Race 4: ROSEBERTH OPEN H’CAP – 1000M NO OTHER WAY – Was declared a late scratching 2.50pm when no rider was available. THINKHESAURUS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. When question into the seemingly disappointing performance rider G. Geran stated that in his opinion the gelding raced fresh and after beginning awkwardly had to work hard to improve forward which was a telling factor on its overall performance, he further added THINKHESAURUS would benefit from today’s outing. Trainer M. Kropp explained that whilst he was disappointed with the performance he was of the view that after beginning awkwardly and having to work hard early resulted in the gelding being unable to finish the race off. WHISPERING DEATH – Rider K. Nestor was permitted ride 1kg overweight when no other rider was available. Race 5: McINNESS WILSON BETOOTA CUP OPEN H’CAP – 1600M HYACINTHA – As rider K. Nestor was to be overweight he was replaced by M. Palmer. Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by K. Nestor and no further action was taken. HARD LIQUOR – Began awkwardly.RUSTY MOTORBIKE – Slow to begin. TIGER’S STORY – Slow to begin. Rider K. Dunbar reported on return to scale that in his opinion the gelding may not have been entirely comfortable on today’s track surface. Race 6: P.E & G.C HARRIS ROAD CONTRACTORS P/L BIRDSVILLE HOTEL CLASS B H’CAP – 800MAXFORD – Fractious in barriers. Began awkwardly, threw its head in the air and lost ground.
