QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT BIRDSVILLE RACE CLUB – SUNDAY 4 SEPTEMBER 2016WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – DIRT RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – P. Lewis GENERAL Due to transportation difficulties riders N. Day and R. Wiggins did not ride at today’s meeting and were replaced as per Stewards summary. As a result of weather conditions and communication difficulties a number of late scratchings and late rider changes were unavoidable and are as per Stewards summary. Race 1: ALTITUDE FX HAMMOCKS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M BABY JAM – Slow to begin. MEINDOONA – Rider S. Lacy reported on return to scale that in her opinion the filly was not entirely comfortable in today’s track conditions. Race 2: VEOLIA CLASS B H’CAP – 1000M BETTER OFFER – Fractious during saddling enclosure preliminary, slipped over dislodging rider. Gelding was vetted prior to start and cleared to race. M. Palmer advised he was free of any injury and declared himself fit to fulfil his engagement. Hung out under pressure over concluding stages. JAMMO JACK – Slow to begin. WOUNDERFUL WALLY – Began awkwardly Race 3: BIRDSVILLE HOTEL OPEN H’CAP – 1000M LE CAP – Slow to begin. THINKHESAURUS – Hung out early stages and shifted wider. Race 4: MAZDA BT – 50 CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1000M KATZENPFOETCHEN – Fractious in barriers, began awkwardly and lost ground. STYLISH SON – Bounded in air at start and lost ground. TARA IRONWOOD – Began well and shortly after commenced to hang out early stages and lost ground. SUPER SILKS – Tightened for room at start. WILKER – Began awkwardly and shifted inconveniencing another runner. Race 5: OUTBACK QUEENSLAND’S BIRDSVILLE CUP OPEN H’CAP – 1600M MORE ALPHA – Wide early stages. WHAT BTHE HECK – Began awkwardly, shifted out and lost ground. HYACINTHA – Began very awkwardly, threw head in air for some distance and refused to settle early and middle stages. HARD LIQUOR – Hung out for majority of race and raced wide. CAMPANOLOGY – Tightened for room at the start. FIRA – Rider K. Nestor reported on returning to scale that in his opinion the gelding was not comfortable on today’s track surface and was reluctant to stretch out. Race 6: LANDMARK/CGU CLASS 3 PLATE – 1400M WHO’S NEXT – Slow to begin. FRISCO JOURNEY – Slow to begin. SWORD FIGHTER – Raced wide majority. Race 7: BIRDSVILLE FUEL SERVICE BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1400M ATEACES – Lost off fore plate during in running. MAMBO FEVER – Lost near fore plate during in running Race 8: BIRDSVILLE ROADHOUSE CLASS 5 H’CAP – 1200M EYE WINSOME – Slow to begin. Over-raced middle stages and checked from heels near the 700m. JESSE ‘N’ JAMES – Slow to begin. CHAMPAGNE TALES – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a deep laceration to its near hind leg. Trainer D. Rewald was advised he must provide a vet clearance prior to the horse starting again. Race 9: RFDS CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1200M The start of this race was delayed when barriers 2, 3, 5 and 6 failed to open. POWER BUTTON, JEN SEE SEE and MYBOYOLIVER were all restrained quickly. Once returned to the barriers all runners were examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start and the barrier gates were tested before runners were reloaded. Race10: ROAD TECH MARINE QTIS CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1200M SWORD FIGHTER – Competed in Race 6 examined by veterinary surgeon following Race 6, and again prior to Race 10 and was cleared to start. Race 11: LYNDHURST STUD OUTBACK DASH CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1000M TILLY GIRL – Slow to begin. AGENT ALBERT – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of race.
