QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT BIRDSVILLE RACE CLUB BIRDSVILLE – MONDAY 11TH APRIL 2022 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING –GOOD RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – R HitchenerStewards – K McCrackinClerk of Scales – D KerwickJudge – B LinesVeterinarian – Dr W NasonStarter – L Lewis GENERAL All runners which competed at yesterday’s Birdsville meeting which were racing at today’s meeting were subject to a satisfactory Veterinary examination prior to the scratching deadline. As Q Krogh was unable to attend the meeting, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards summary. Race 1: INNAMINCKA HOTEL RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 Handicap 1000 metres RAMBLIN' MAN- Steadied from heels near the 500m. DO YOUR BEST- Slow to begin. VIETTI- Raced wide in the early stages. OLIFANTS- Hung out during the early and middle stages. Race 2: NUTRIEN AG SOLUTIONS BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1400 metres WICKED WENCH- After winning at yesterday’s Birdsville meeting the gelding was issued a 1.5kg penalty for today’s event, taking its weight to 59.5kg. No racing incidents. Race 3: BROOK PASTORAL / FRED BROPHY BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1000 metres EXPELLABLE- Jockey R Tilley reported that gelding never travelled strongly on the firm racing surface and also was not entirely comfortable racing in the anti-clockwise direction. PINZU- Slow into stride. DONE IT AGAIN- Slow to begin. LONDON RULER- Laid out under pressure in the home straight. ELA BEACH- Raced wide without cover throughout. Race 4: BIRDSVILLE RACES ROADIES BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 800 metres NITRO CITY- Bumped on the hindquarters on jumping and again shortly after the start. NO HAT NO PLAY- As the gelding had not started in a period exceeding 12 months, it was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon prior to the event and passed suitable to race. Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost considerable ground. Race 5: ANNANDALE TRADING CO BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1600 metres PAST TENSE- Slow to begin. Jockey R McMahon reported that the gelding failed to muster early speed which is consistent with the horses racing pattern over its past number of starts since arriving in central Queensland. Jockey McMahon added that in his opinion, as a result of racing back in the field, the gelding was reluctant to race through the kickback and as a result raced disappointingly. A post-race Veterinary examination failed to revel any abnormalities. HARD CURRENCY- Slow to begin and then failed to muster speed. BOULT- Raced ungenerously in the home straight. Race 6: TAB BIRDSVILLE CUP OPEN Handicap 1600 metres BERNIE'S TIGER- Raced wide without cover throughout. Jockey R McMahon was reprimanded for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m. ECHO POINT- Began awkwardly. Held up rounding the home turn. ANOTHER PLAN- Slow to begin and then failed to muster early speed. TONY'S REWARD- Began awkwardly. Race 7: AKUBRA QTIS Class 2 Handicap 1200 metres REAL VALENTIA- Slow to begin. BLADE MAN- Hung out rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Jockey R McMahon was reprimanded for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m. GOLDEN ATHENA- Began awkwardly losing ground. Raced wide without cover throughout. NICKSY BOY- Began awkwardly. Near the 300m was tightened for room and checked when racing between LADY FEY which was taken out by BLADE MAN, which shifted out whilst hanging out despite the efforts of its rider and GOLDEN ATHENA which shifted in. App J Doolan the rider of GOLDEN ATHENA was reprimanded for permitting her mount to shift in at this point of the race. LADY FEY- Tightened for room near the 300m and lost ground.
