CoulthardGENERALAll runners competing at today’s meeting which raced at the Birdsville meeting yesterday, underwent a veterinary examination prior to the commencement of today's race meeting and were subsequently cleared to start. LOTTO FLIGHT was re-handicapped after winning race 6 yesterday with her new allotted weight of 58kg (+2kg) in race 7 at today’s meeting.Stewards accepted explanations tendered by all trainers with late rider declarations at today’s meeting. Race 1: BIRDSVILLE RACES ROADIES RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 HANDICAP 1000 MetresJET STREAM – Slow to begin. Passing the 600m, whilst over racing, had to be steadied from heels. RUBY SURPRISE – Inclined to lay out throughout. Raced wide throughout. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities. Race 2: AKUBRA QTIS CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1200 MetresBALDASSARE – Whilst over racing, shifted out passing the 1000m before being corrected by its rider. Then continued to lay out until passing the 400m. ZEITAKUNA – Forced wider when BALDASSARE shifted out passing the 1000m. DESERT SAFARI – Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout. Race 3: NUTRIEN AG CLASS 3 PLATE 1000 MetresCOUNTRY BOYZ – Raced keenly during the early stages. RELICTA – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. MR EVANS – Blundered on jumping. Race 4: BROOK PASTORAL COMPANY / FRED BROPHY BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1000 MetresDue to a communication issue, the start of this race was effected approximately ten seconds early. This was brought to the starter’s attention.AL PAL'S GAL – Stumbled enroute to the barriers, harmlessly dislodging apprentice C. Lowe. On arrival at the barriers, AL PAL’S GAL underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Stood flatfooted, began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly causing the mare to lose ground. Trainer M. Kropp was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s barrier manners. Laid in under pressure passing the 200m. KEENZAP – Approaching the 400m, momentarily became unbalanced, shifting out slightly brushing CYCLONITE. THE SQUIRE – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight and had to be corrected by its rider on a number of occasions. Trainer C. Dixon was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners. Lost the near hind plate in running. EL MAGNIFICENCE – Began very awkwardly and lost ground. Held up for clear running entering the home straight until passing the 200m, before shifting out to obtain clear running. CYCLONITE – Bumped and taken wider at the 400m. Cast the off fore plate in running. Race 5: ANNANDALE TRADING CO BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1600 MetresSTROMA ASTER – Inconvenienced on jumping when STARLITE REBEL jumped out at the start. GRINZINGER BISHOP (NZ) – Raced wide during the early and middle stages. STARLITE REBEL – Jumped out at the start. LORD PERCY – Trainer R. Green was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding for its pre-race manners after becoming fractious in the saddling enclosure. Slow to begin and lost ground. Shifted out rounding the home turn, continued to shift out down the home straight obliging its rider to stop and straighten the gelding on a number of occasions. BEN STARS – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Race 6: TAB BIRDSVILLE CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1600 MetresSACCHARO – Slow to begin. AWESOME LAD – Slow to begin. Over raced during the early and middle stages. ELLA TE AMA – Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping WARRAH FLASH. Apprentice S. McCann pled guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip on 10 occasions prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration apprentice McCann’s good record under the rule and she was fined $300. TRUMPSTA – Apprentice J. Doyle was reminded of her obligations under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on eight occasions prior to the 100m. PHOENIX FLYER – Raced wide throughout. BORS – Apprentice D. Bennett pled guilty to a charge under AR143(14)(a) for failing to claim his full allowance and was fined $200. Raced wide throughout. I AM GOOD AT THIS – Shifted out abruptly on jumping. Rider C. Whiteley reported that his mount hung out in the home straight. WARRAH FLASH – Bumped on jumping and lost ground. Race 7: RFDS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400 MetresDeclaration of correct weight was delayed to allow the connections of second placegetter COYNES ROAD to view the patrol footage over the final 200m. When connections and Stewards were similarly satisfied, correct weight was given on the judges’ semaphored numbers.MATHEMATICS – Raced wide throughout. COYNES ROAD – Apprentice S. McCann was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on eight occasions prior to the 100m. EQUAL BALANCE – Raced in restricted room for a short distance passing the 1000m. Jockey J. Keating was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on eight occasions prior to the 100m. ALMAHERO – Passing the 200m, shifted in and put in an awkward stride becoming unbalanced for a short distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer J. Morris was advised that the gelding will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. LOTTO FIGHT – Commenced to over race passing the 800m and had to be steadied from heels.
