Due to major flooding and road closures Michael Schrapel was unable to attend the race meeting today. Rider changes as per Race Day Summary.
 
There was a delay to the start of race one allowing time for the ambulance to arrive on course.
 
Race 1: SCHLUTER’S BAKERY CLASS B HANDICAP 1200 metres
 
WANDZEL – Slow to begin then preceded to buck resenting the kickback and hit the inside running rail near the 1000m dislodging jockey R. Tilley. R. Tilley was treated by ambulance officers and was stood down for the remainder of the day. R. Tilley was advised a medical clearance would be required prior to riding again. Rider replacements as per Race Day Summary. Trainer of WANDZEL, G. Bignell was advised the gelding would have to undergo an official barrier trial prior to racing again.
 
ALLELUIA – Travelled wide in the early stages.
 
MANDEVILLE ROCKER – Travelled wide for much of the race.
 
THE LANDING – Reared prior to jumping, failed to muster speed at any stage.
 
PORTABELLE – Travelled wide in the early and middle stages.
 
ROSAIRE – Brushed on jumping with KING KAI.
 
KING KAI – Brushed on jumping with ROSAIRE.
 
 
Race 2: BLACKALL IGA QTIS BM 60 HANDICAP 1200 metres
 
ALFIARTO – Travelled wide for much of the race.
 
EMPIRE PRINCESS – Carted wider on the home turn when an inside runner hung out.
 
GET IN THE GROOVE – Travelled wide for much of the race.
 
SPALLINA – Slow into stride, eased off heels at the 350m when an inside runner shifted outwards.
 
OUR SAY – Hung out for much of the event then nearing the 350m shifted out causing back markers to be eased. Trainer H. Forster was advised a warning had been placed on the racing manners of the mare.
 
HOT CHOCOLATE – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 3: BARCOO BUTCHERY MAIDEN PLATE 1050 metres
 
CHOSEN TO SIZZLE – Travelled wide for much of the race.
 
MOTILDA – Slow into stride.
 
SERRATALLI – Travelled wide in the middle stages.
 
 
Race 4: PETER SHAW ELECTRICAL BM 55 HANDICAP 1050 metres
 
Jockey B. Moffat was permitted to ride ALGEROBA .5kg overweight with no other riders available.
 
BOOMSHAKE THE ROOM – Late scratching at 2:00pm with no rider available.
 
FLASH FIBIAN – Fractious prior to jumping.
 
AUVERGNE – Resented the kickback mid race losing momentum.
 
WILD ELEMENT – Slow to begin and travelled wide for much of the race.
 
I AM BOLT – Awkward and slow to begin. Travelled wide in the early stages. Jockey M. Butler was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m two more than permitted. Stewards took into account this was his fourth offence under the rule in the previous 12 months.
 
Race 5: SPINK’S CONCRETING OPEN HANDICAP 1050 metres
 
Jockey R. McMahon was permitted to ride ACEPLAY 1kg overweight as there were no other jockeys available.
 
ACEPLAY – Awkward to begin.
 
ANOTHER PLAN – Slow to begin and travelled wide in the early and middle stages.
 
DONE IT AGAIN – Travelled wide in the early and middle stages.
