GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following overweight allowance at today’s meeting:
Race 3 – SHARALANDA – Apprentice S. Zoljan – Claim - 0.5kg of 2kg (57kg)
 
Race 1: BARCOO BUTCHERY BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
 
INSPIRATION – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
FREDDIE EDDIE – Through his head in the air as the start was affected which resulted in the gelding being awkward out of the barriers and losing ground. Raced ungenerously for the first 50m. Inclined to lay out from the 700m to the 400m.
 
ASTRA WALLY – Slow to begin and trailed the field throughout. A post-race veterinary inspection revealed the gelding to be showing signs of being abnormality stiff in the hind. Trainer G Bell was advised that ASTRA WALLY would require a Veterinary clearance before racing or trialling again.
 
PRIOR THOUGHTS – Bumped on jumping. Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
KARAKAROO – Jumped inwards at the start and bumped PRIOR THOUGHTS.
 
Race 2: SPINKS CONCRETE RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 HANDICAP 1050 Metres
 
EFFLINE – Stood flat footed when the start was affected and as a result lost ground. Over-raced until passing the 700m. Became unbalanced when resenting the kickback passing the 400m until obtaining clear running when entering the home straight. Trainer R Kerwin was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
 
COLHOUN – On arrival to the barriers COLHOUN underwent a pre-race Veterinary inspection after being kicked by another runner in the mounting yard and was subsequently passed suitable to race.
 
CHIEF MONDO – On arrival to the barriers CHIEF MONDO underwent a pre-race Veterinary inspection which revealed the gelding to be showing signs of lameness to the offside hind leg and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 1.48pm.Trainer C Prow was advised that CHIEF MONDO would require a Veterinary clearance before racing or trialling again.Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared that all bets placed on CHIEF MONDO be refunded with the following deductions to apply to successful bets: 12 cents a win and 14 cents a place.
 
READY AND WAITING – Slow to begin. Jockey J Missen reported that the mare raced greenly throughout and was inclined to hang out from the 600m until entering the home straight.
 
VALIANT JOAN – Began awkwardly.
 
GOLDIE'S POWER – Steadied from heels passing the 400m and shifted out, momentarily inconveniencing INHISTIME.
 
INHISTIME – Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 400m when GOLDIE'S POWER shifted out to avoid heels. Jockey T Banks was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 3: KINGS RURAL CONTRACTING QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 2-Y-O & Up. 1050 Metres
 
ABOUT RIGHT – Inclined to lay in during the early stages.
 
MUMMIFICATION – Slow to begin. Jockey C Rogers reported that MUMMIFICATION was inclined to lay in for the majority of the event and proved difficult to ride.
 
DALEK – Momentarily steadied from heels passing the 600m.
 
HENNY PENNY – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
NAORO – Slow to begin.
 
SHARALANDA – Stewards accepted the reasons given by Apprentice S Zoljan for not being able to claim her full allowance.
 
Race 4: PETER SHAW & CO ELECTRICAL OPEN HANDICAP 1050 Metres
 
GOLDEELUCK – Slow to begin. Blundered shortly after jumping. Jockey T Townsend reported that GOLDEELUCK proved to be disappointing and failed to respond to her riding. Inclined to lay in when under pressure in the home straight.
 
MAGICAL SLIPPER – Lost off fore plate in running.
 
MAYA BAY – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Jockey J Rudd reported that MAYA BAY resented the kickback from todays racing surface and became unbalanced. Jockey Rudd also added that the gelding was inclined to hang out on the home turn.
 
MR CRUISE – After pulling up after the event MR CRUISE was lame in the offside fetlock. The gelding received treatment from the oncourse Veterinarian and was transported to a Veterinary surgery for further assessment. Trainer T Schofield was advised that MR CRUISE would require a Veterinary clearance before racing or trialling again.
 
MORICONI – When Apprentice S Zoljan was to be overweight she was replaced by Jockey T Banks. Stewards accepted the reasons given by Apprentice Zoljan for not being able to ride the mare at the allocated weight.
 
Race 5: CORNETT'S BLACKALL IGA BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1050 Metres
 
FELONIOUS – Blundered on jumping. Momentarily raced in restricted room passing the 800m between MINTO'S POWER and GOTTA FLY. Travelled mid-field until passing the 400m before becoming unbalanced and lost ground when resenting the kick back from todays racing surface.
 
KINJINA – Slow to begin. Buffeted on jumping between GOTTA FLY which jumped outwards and BELLO BELLO which jumped inwards. Raced wide throughout.
 
GOTTA FLY – Jumped outwards and bumped KINJINA. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
MINTO'S POWER – Began awkwardly.
 
BELLO BEL – Jumped inwards and bumped KINJINA. Tailed off in the early stages before catching the field at the top of the straight and finished the race off well.
 
FINAL MISSION – Slow to begin.Raced wide for the majority of the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
