GENERAL
Overweights permitted as per the Stewards Summary.
 
Race 1: QTIS MAIDEN PLATE1000 metres
 
EMPEROR’S REWARD – Tired noticeably over the final 500m. Jockey Tasha Chambers reported that she felt the gelding lacked race fitness which contributed to the poor performance. A post-race veterinary examination confirmed the thoughts of the jockey.
 
MISHANI HURRICANE – Shifted in marginally near the 750m tightening BEAN A BAD GIRL.
 
BEAN A BAD GIRL – Fractious before the start and proved difficult to load. A warning was issued against the loading manners of the mare. Tightened for room near the 750m.
 
WISHNOWSKY – Very slow to begin and trailed the field during the initial stages.
 
 
 
 
Race 2:PAUL BYRNE MEMORIAL CLASS B HANDICAP 1000 metres

INTERROGATION – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to having not started in the preceding 12 months and cleared to start. Slow to begin and failed to gain contact with the main body of the field.
 
CHARLOTTE RULES - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to having not started in the preceding 12 months and cleared to start.
 
MILITARY GHOST – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness to the off foreleg. Connections were advised that the gelding has been stood down from racing until receipt of a veterinary clearance.
 
OUR IRISH EMPEROR – Apprentice Tyler Leslight (assisted by senior jockey Emma Bell) was found guilty of a charge under AR132(5) for excessive whip use, in that over the final 500m he applied the whip on 19 occassions in total, applied the whip on 15 occasions prior to the 100m and used the whip in consecutive strides on multiple occasions. In accordance with the Rider Penalty Guidelines for Whip Use, Apprentice Leslight’s license to ride in races was suspended for 7 days to commence midnight 3rd September 2022 and conclude midnight 10th September 2022.
 
STILL FEELING IT – Jockey Jade Doolan reported that despite being able to win, the gelding did not appreciate the surface and therefore elected to race wide on the track.
 
SHEZROYAL – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
 
Race 3: MCINTOSH EARTHWORKS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1000 metres
 
STAYS ON TOUR – Slow to begin.

GOLD CHANCE – Fractious to load. Briefly tightened near the 650m.
 
MISHANI PATRIOT – Wide throughout.
 
TORRADAY – Wide early and middle stages. Shifted in near the 650m briefly tightening GOLD CHANCE.

Race 5:WHITEHOUSE GROUP BLUFF NEWMARKET BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200 metres
 
SHIGERU MAHOGANY – Raced wide throughout.
 
ROUGE STAR – Slow to begin. Raced wide middle and late stages.
 
SCHWEID AS – Disappointed for a run approaching the 200m and had to switch wider to obtain clear room. Laid in under pressure over the final 150m.
 
KARENO – Slow into stride.
 
SANTORINI SUMMER – Raced wide throughout.
 
SHIRAISHI – Slow to begin.
 
 
 
 
 
Race 6: GEORGE HOARE MEMORIAL RATINGS BAND 0 – 50 HANDICAP HANDICAP 1300 metres
 
MONEY TRAVELS – Slow to begin.
 
CHESTO’S DREAM – Broke loose from attendants behind the barriers when MARRON CHEVAL become cast in the stalls. Declared a late scratching by order of stewards at 4.05pm. All bets on CHESTO’S DREAM were ordered to be refunded in full. Bets on the winner were ordered to be paid less 35 cents in the win bet and less 22 cents for place bets on the face value of the ticket.
 
MORE THAN CHARGED – Rider Emma Bell reported the mare was making abnormal respiratory noises during the run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed abnormal noise in the respiratory tract and as such the mare has been stood down from racing pending receipt of a satisfactory endoscopic examination report. Connections advised that the mare is likely to be retired.
 
PERSAGA – Very slow to begin.
 
BUDDIE OLLIE – Late scratching at 12.18pm due to no rider available.
 
 
LUCKY TIME – Raced keenly during the middle stages.
 
MARRON CHEVAL – Delayed the start when becoming fractious and then getting cast in the barriers. Declared a late scratching by order of stewards at 4.05pm. All bets on MARRON CHEVAL were ordered to be refunded in full. Bets on the winner were ordered to be paid less 5 cents in the win bet and less 6 cents for place bets on the face value of the ticket. A post-race veterinary examination of MARRON CHEVAL revealed minor traces of blood in the nasal area, however the vet was satisfied this was caused by the mare contacting the barrier structure when cast. MARRON CHEVAL has been stood down from racing until the completion of a satisfactory barrier trial. Rider Tasha Chambers was examined by ambulance staff and cleared of any significant injury.
 
 
Race 7: JELLINBAH MINE BLUFF CUP BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1800 metres
 
GRAND DE LAGO – Yielded ground over the final 300m after leading throughout’
 
HUNUA HANK (NZ) – Slow into stride. Tired over the final 500m.
 
RUFFIN’ IT – Raced 3 wide early. Jockey Chris McIver was reprimanded under AR137(7)(a)(ii) for applying the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m (1 more than permitted).
