GENERAL
 
The following overweights had been approved by Stewards:
 
Race 1 – D. Baker – +1kg
Race 4 – D. Baker – +1.5kg
 
 
Race 1: BLACKWATER PLUMBING BENCHMARK 55 Handicap (1000 Metres)
 
OUR STORMY GIRL – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
DENIMS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having competed in the last seven days and was cleared to start. Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
BARTOS – Reared on jumping and as a result was slow to begin. Trainer R Kerwin was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s record.

ADMIRAL ASH – Slow to begin. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
GLEN ISLA MILER – Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding today’s performance, Apprentice N. Seymour stated that her mount had resented the kick back of the dirt track and failed to travel over the concluding stages.
 
HARAMAIN – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 2: GOLDING CONTRACTORS QTIS Maiden Plate (1200 Metres)
 
LEVALET – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
NYTHE – Was declared a late scratching at 2:11pm on veterinary advice when an examination behind the barriers revealed the gelding to be lame in the near-side front leg. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on NYTHE be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:
 
5 cents in the dollar for the win
7 cents in the dollar for the place
 
Trainer C. Storch was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding’s next future race start.  
 
ATHENA’S SECRET – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
BREAKER BREAKER – Blundered on jumping and as a result was slow to begin. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
MISHANI PLATINUM – Slow to begin. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
LOST ‘N’ FOUND – Raced greenly in the early stages. Trainer G. Bell was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly’s record for its racing manners. Raced wide in the early stages.

 
Race 3: WHITEHOUSE GROUP BLUFF NEWMARKET BENCHMARK 65 Handicap (1200 Metres)
 
COCHRANE – Jumped away awkwardly. Overraced in the early and middle stages.

GOLDEN ATHENA – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin.
 
REAL HUSSEY – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 4: HICKEY TRUCKING CO / CENTRAL HIGHLANDS QUARRY MEMORIAL RATINGS BAND 0 – 50 Handicap (1300 Metres)
 
COSMIC BULLET – After SAND AND OCEAN had become fractious beside the runner, COSMIC BULLET also became fractious and had cast itself in the barriers for a short duration of time before being freed. Was declared a late scratching at 3:46pm on veterinary advice. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on COSMIC BULLET be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:
 
38 cents in the dollar for the win
40 cents in the dollar for the place

Trainer K. Sinclair was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to its next future race start. Apprentice M. Apel was assessed by the on-course QAS officers and was cleared to take her final engagement.
 
SCARLET DESIRE – Raced wide when rounding the home turn. Laid in when placed under pressure near the 200m.
 
PERSAGA – Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
SAND AND OCEAN – Once loaded, SAND AND OCEAN had become fractious in the barriers, then reared and became cast in the barriers, dislodging Apprentice B. Johnson, lodging her between horse and rear barrier partition. Once removed from the barriers, became free from the barrier attendants, and galloped back around the course proper before being recaptured in the mounting yard. Was declared a late scratching at 3:46pm on veterinary advice. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on SAND AND OCEAN be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:

40 cents in the dollar for the place
 
Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s record for its barrier manners and that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to its next future race start. Apprentice B. Johnson was assessed by the on-course QAS officers and was cleared to take her remaining engagement.  
 
 
Race 5: JELLINBAH MINE BLUFF CUP BENCHMARK 60 Handicap (1800 Metres)
 
LETS TORQUE A DEEL – Fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Upon returning to scale, Apprentice J. Doolan stated that her mount was inclined to hang out passing the 400m. Apprentice Doolan also stated that LETS TORQUE A DEEL failed to travel throughout and had felt awkward in its action. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
RECONDITE (IRE) – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin.
 
VANA STAR – Upon returning to scale, Apprentice B. Johnson stated that her mount had made contact with the inside running rail on a number of occasions and while doing so, Apprentice Johnson’s right foot struck the inside running rail. Apprentice Johnson was assessed by the on-course QAS officer for an injury to her right foot. Apprentice Johnson was advised that a medical clearance would be required prior to any future engagements.
 
BRETON – Jumped away awkwardly. When questioned regarding today’s performance, Jockey D. Baker stated that his mount failed to travel throughout the event. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
SARINA – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
DELIUS – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
SHE’S OUR EMPRESS – Jumped away awkwardly.
