GillettStewards Panel – E. Suli, S. Stehbens SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT Emerald 18/5/2024 – Race 4 - FARM & CONSTRUCTION PRODUCTS BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1615MStewards finalised an adjourned inquiry involving apprentice J. Devine (WINTILLY) and P. Hamblin (YOUNG HENRY) entering the home straight. After viewing the available replays stewards could not be satisfied with the evidence depicted on the films to issue Ms Devine with a charge however, stewards advised Ms Devine to exercise greater care when shifting ground. GENERAL Stewards permitted apprentice J. Devine to ride PREPOTENT at her minimum riding weight, 0.5kg above the handicapped weight due to no other rider available. Stewards questioned trainer R. Williams regarding the late declaration of apprentice N. Olzard in race 5 on DEVIL ENOUGH. Stewards accepted the reasons tendered and took no further action. Devine to ride 0.5kg over the handicapped weight at her minimum riding weight due to no other rider being available at the time. Began awkwardly and slow to begin. Apprentice J. Devine was fined $100 under AR190(3) for accepting a ride in which she was 1kg overweight of the already approved 0.5kg overweight. When considering penalty stewards took into consideration Ms Devine record in relation to the rule, her guilty plea and the minimum penalty guidelines. Ms Devine was not replaced as no other rider was able to make a lower weight. ONCHAO – Jumped inwards at the start. RACE 5: SPONSORS BLUFF CUP BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP (1800 METRES) FUSAICHI FAMILY – Slow into stride. Over raced in the early and middle stages. DEVIL ENUFF – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Upon returning to the scales apprentice N. Apprentice N. Olzard was reprimanded under AR143(14)(a) for failing to claim her full allowance, when considering penalty stewards were mindful of the circumstances tendered by Ms Olzard as to only being declared this morning for the ride and that she had only had heavier rides prior to being declared on DEVIL ENOUGH. ZELSON – Slow to muster early speed and trailed the field thereafter taking no competitive part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. Trainer R. Zahl was advised that ZELSON would have to trial to the satisfaction of stewards to prove its competitiveness prior to racing again. LYNRIC LASS – Apprentice J.
