RACE 1: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TIM DYNE BENCHMARK 60 H’CAP – 1000M  
 
TOBASCO – Was examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to the race and was cleared to start after competing last Thursday 31/05/2018 at the Townsville Turf Club.     
 
GOLD TORQUE – Slow into stride. Crowded for room near the 750m and was steadied.
 
KWANZA – Crowded for room near the 750m and was steadied.
 
SEEKTOWIN – Laid in near the 750m crowding runners to its inside. Raced the wide for the majority of the race.  
 
RACE 2: JAMES LASER SERVICES MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M 
 
HAMMERFEST – Stood flatfooted as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Trainer T. Simmons was advised she must provide a further barrier certificate prior to the filly being permitted to race again.
 
BUSTER BLOCK – Difficult to load. Very fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Had a tendency to hang out rounding the home turn. Connections wereadvised they must provide a further barrier certificate prior to the horse being permitted to race again.
 
BIDAFLARE – Commenced to hang out leaving the 800m until entering the home straight. Trainer O. Cairns was advised a warning will be placed on its racing manners.
AMBITIOUS EX – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start.
 
HE’S TERYFIED – Dislodged rider S. Sheargold during its preliminary giving a harmless fall. Shifted out near the 600m to improve and raced wide from that point onwards.       
 
RACE 3: LEIGH HOLT CLEANING SERVICES BATTLE OF THE BUSH QUALIFIER – OPEN PLATE – 1100M 
 
MASON’S CHANCE – When questioned in regards to the geldings performance rider J. Stanley stated it was the horses third start in consecutive weeks which may have taken the edge off its early speed and with today’s quick pace it was unable to travel comfortably at any stage of the race. Trainer O. Cairns agreed with J. Stanley’s assessment. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
SAMUEL JAMES – Laid in near the 750m crowding runners to its inside.
 
WE FOUND IT – Momentarily crowded for room near the 750m. Rider P. Cullen was cautioned over the use of his whip prior to the 100m.    
 

RACE 4: QUEENS BEACH HOTEL CLASS B H’CAP – 1200M 
 
WAY TOO SASSY - Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Jumped outwards at the start inconveniencing the runner to its inside.
 
SERIOUSLY HAPPY – Began awkwardly and shifted in hampering the runner to its inside.
 
LIGHT UP VEGAS – Inconvenienced when tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
 
BUD RICKS – Tightened for room approaching the 1000m, was checked and lost ground.
 
SPRINGTHORPE – Rider J. Stanley was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that approaching the 1000m he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of BUD RICKS (P. Cullen) whichwas checkedand lost its rightful running. J. Stanley’s licence to ride in races, was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 11 June 2018 and expire midnight 19 June 2018. In considering penalty, Stewards took into account Mr Stanley’s good record in relation to this rule and deemed this incident in the low range.    
 
RACE 5: INDUSTRY FIRE SERVICES WHITSUNDAY CUP BENCHMARK 55 – 1470M 
 
SUNNY CHIEF – Slow into stride. Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the race.
 
SARABAH – Blundered on jumping away and lost ground.
 
PREMIER PLACE – Over-raced for the majority of the race.
