QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT BOWEN JOCKEY CLUB – FRIDAY, 31 JANUARY 2020 WEATHER – OVERCAST TRACK RATING – HEAVY 10 RAIL – TRUE PENETROMETER – 4.9 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – P. CullenBetting Steward – Stewards Race 1: Burdekin Veterinary Services QTIS 2yo Maiden H’cap – 1100m MATHEMAGICIAN – Began awkwardly. LATINA ROCKET – Overraced in the early and middle stages. EMMA ROCKET – Overraced in the early stages. Raced wide for the majority of the race. IN MEMORY OFA MATE – Hung out rounding the home turn. Near the 250m shifted out abruptly when struck with the whip, and raced greenly for the remainder of the event. Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners. Race 2: Bowen Tyre & Mechanical Maiden Plate – 1280m The start of this race was delayed due to the barriers becoming bogged in transit to the 1280m start. Prior to correct weight being declared, stewards viewed the patrol footage of the race in the home straight to ascertain if there were grounds to lodge an objection on behalf of the 2nd placegetter, Ticket To India, against Izumi being declared the winner. After viewing the footage, stewards declined to proceed and correct weight was declared on the Judge’s numbers. IZUMI – Commenced to hang out approaching the home turn and continued to do so for the length of the home straight. Trainer Mr A. Molino was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners. TICKET KEEPER – Momentarily steadied near the 250m to avoid the heels of another runner, which was shifting ground under pressure. TICKET TO INDIA - Shifted out and away from another runner near the 200m which was shifting ground under pressure. Race 3: William Groocock Memorial Benchmark 65 H’cap – 1470m CRAIGLEA CETINA – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. MUSTARRID – Laid in in the middle stages despite the efforts of jockey C. Jokic. REGAL REECE – Jockey S. Wiseman was fined $200 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. Race 4: Queens Beach Pub Benchmark 69 H’cap – 1280m LITTLE JOHN – Dislodged jockey J. Felix en route to the barriers. Was quickly recaptured. Jockey J. Felix was unharmed in the incident. Examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start. Approaching the 250m when in clear running faltered in its action, dislodging J. Felix. Jockey Felix was transported to hospital for observation. LITTLE JOHN, which was found to have suffered catastrophic injuries, was subsequently euthanised on humane grounds after it was found to have fractured its near fore sesamoid. PROANE – Slow to begin. SHENRON – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. ALERT BY SEA – Apprentice D. Graham was fined $200 for excessive use of his whip prior to 100m. Race 5: Abbot Point Operations Ratings Band 0-55 H’cap – 1100m DONAVIA – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly. Shifted wider near the 700m to improve and raced wide from that point. CAPTAIN TOM – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly. CRIAGLEA SIMMO – Slow to begin. CRAIGLEA ARION – Laid in approaching the home turn. Raced wide for the majority of the race. SCENT OF FEAR – Shifted out near the 250m, bumping another runner. GRACIOIUS GARCON – Became unbalanced after being bumped by another runner near the 250m. BATTLE – Had difficulty obtaining clear running for a short distance passing the 100m. Race 6: Pit Pony Tavern Open H’cap – 1100m MARGOT – Shifted in soon after jumping, bumping with another runner. SCHEREZOSO – Lost ground after being bumped by another runner soon after the start. MASON’S CHANCE – Slowly into stride. Held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight. SEVEN YEAR REWARD – Weakened noticeably over the concluding stages. Apprentice D. Graham advised that the gelding had travelled well in the early and middle stages, however failed to finish of its race. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow post race recovery. Race 7: Industry Fire Services Class 3 Plate – 1200m MUSIC – Slow to begin. GRAZIE MILLE BELLA – Overraced when restrained near the 800m to obtain a position closer to the inside rail. ANNE CATHERINE – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Had to be restrained when tightened for running by another runner, which shifted in near the 250m. YOU’RE IN MY HEART – Laid in under pressure in the early part of the home straight. TRUE MYTH – Near the 250m shifted in and away from another runner, tightening a runner to its inside. Whilst stewards noted the racing manners of TRUE MYTH, apprentice D. Graham was advised to make a greater effort to keep her mounts straight in similar circumstances. Apprentice Graham was also reminded of her obligation to ride her mounts out to the end of the race. MARCHING ORDERS – Jockey L. Dillon was fined the sum of $200 for excessive whip use prior to the 100m. STEWARDS RACE DAY SUMMARY Summary of action concerning licensees FineRace 3.
