Race 2: LADBROKES RACING CLUB MAIDEN HANDICAP   1200 M
 
Co-trainer Mr Peter Rowe advised that upon returning to his stables SHE’S A MISSION was found to be displaying bruising around both eyes which required remedial treatment.

Race 6: INDEPENDENT LIQOUR GROUP QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP   1000 M
 
Rider Chelsea Jokic reported that she was feeling discomfort in hip region following the completion of racing after being badly tightened and unbalanced at the start of the race.
 
Stewards approved the following overweights:
Race 2. A. Sewell - (TORQUE ESPAGNA) +0.5kg
Race 5. J. Stanley - (NANO STAR) +1.0kg
Race 8. J. Stanley - (VALENTINO MISS) +1.0kg
 
Race 1: ALL NEW TOYOTA PRADO MAIDEN PLATE 1810 M
ALL POWERED UP – Raced fiercely in the early stages when wide. Inclined to lay in rounding the final turn and throughout the home straight. Hampered and compelled to steady passing the 200 metres and again near the 100 metres when MISHANI BURN shifted out. Gained 1st Placing on Protest.
GONCALO – Pulled up passing the 900 metres when well back. Rider Michael McDonald stated the gelding had made a significant respiratory noise passing the 1,000 metres and he elected to retire GONCALO from the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Trainer Margaret Preston was advised that GONCALO must trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to next racing. Ms Preston advised that GONCALO would be sent for a spell.
MISHANI BURN - Contacted the barriers on jumping and began awkwardly. Raced greenly and shifted ground out under pressure near the 200 metres, and again near the 100 metres. Rider Chelsea Jokic was reprimanded under AR131(a) and firmly reminded of her obligations to straighten her mount sooner than she did on this occasion. Lost 1st placing on protest.
On returning to scale, jockey Graham Kliese, rider of 2rd placegetter ALL POWERED UP advised they wished to lodge an objection against 1st placegetter MISHANI BURN alleging interference in the home straight. After consideration of all relevant factors including evidence for the respected riders and connections, along with the vision of the event, Stewards upheld the protest and declared correct weight on the new numbers 1-5-4-2.
Race 2:ROBERT & SUE FILBY CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1810 M
RELEASE LE MISSILE – Got back in the early stages. Laid in when under pressure over the final 300 metres.
SHE'S REWARDING – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
NINE CARATS – Slow into stride.
QUEENBEEL (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Raced 3-wide in the middle stages.
MERRY OLD SOUL (NZ) – Raced without cover in the middle stages.
Race 3:HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 M
MYTHBUSTA – Trainer Mr Tom Button advised that it was the intention to ride the gelding back given today’s wide barrier draw - raced wide in the early stages so was taken forward to race outside the leader. Stewards questioned rider Ashley Butler regarding him racing forward when the intention was to ride back. In explanation, Jockey Butler stated that after taking a hold when leaving the barriers, the gelding had commenced to race keenly and the when further restrained the gelding came onto the bridle and refused to settle. In consequence he then let MYTHBUSTA stride forward. Mr Butler’s explanation was noted.
THORMENDOUS MISS – Inclined to lay in through the early part of the straight.
MISS PALLADIUM – Was declared a late scratching at 2:10pm after becoming fractious in the barriers and dislodging rider Adrian Layt. Jockey Layt was attended to by on-track medical staff and transported to hospital for further observations with a suspected broken collarbone.Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on MISS PALLADIUM be refunded with the following deductions to apply-  
1st THORMENDOUS MISS – 6c the win, 4c the place
2nd MYTHBUSTA – 8c the place
3rd WEBS – 15c the place
Trainer Glenda Bell was advised that MISS PALLADIUM must trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to next racing.
SODAMCUTE – Gave ground when placed under pressure passing the 800 metres and was eased down in the home straight. When questioned rider Jackson Murphy stated that after travelling fairly in the running the filly had not let down when pressured and in his opinion felt the effects of today’s firm racing surface. Trainer Michael Geaney was advised that SODAMCUTE must trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to next racing.
WEBS – Lost a near-fore plate during the running.
Race 4:WHITSUNDAYS LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER MAIDEN PLATE 1000 M
SECRET ENCRYPTION – Was momentarily attended to by a barrier assistant when the start was made and settled back. Stewards reminded the Barrier Attendants of their obligations with respect to the starting process. Stewards determined that this action had not materially prejudiced the chances of SECRET ENCYPTION and was declared a starter.
FIRE SPHERE – shifted ground inward passing the 75 metres to continue to improve, then became unbalanced for a short distance.
MISHANI AMORE – was declared a late scratching at 2:43pm after dislodging rider Isabella Teh when leaving the enclosure and galloping an excessive distance before being captured. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on MISHANI AMORE be refunded with the following deductions to apply-  
1st HE GOES BOOM – 0c the win, 1c the place
2nd THE KAMIKAZE - 4c the place
3rd LADY DE VEGA - 3c the place
Trainer Joao Campeao was advised a warning would be placed on the filly’s pre-race manners.
Race 5:BRIAN CHARLES FILBY BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000 M
DOLLSON – Improved onto heels near the 700 metres and was taken wider. Held-up for a short distance near the 500 metres. Laid in throughout the home straight.
TEN SCHILLING – Crowded wider passing the 600 metres. Laid in throughout the home straight and was not persevered with over the concluding stages due to its hanging tendencies.
NANO STAR – Rider Justin Stanely accidently dropped his whip passing the 300 metres.
IMPERIUM – Raced wide without cover throughout.
Race 6: REBECCA & MELISSA FILBY QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD & FOUR-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1470 M
WELL HELD – When questioned on the performance, Jockey Justin Stanley could offer no excuses other than, in his opinion, the gelding had come to the end of its current preparation. A post-race veterinary examination of WELL HELD revealed no obvious abnormality. Trainer Clinton Taylor advised that the gelding would now be spelled.
MISHANI PERFECTION – Fractious in the barriers prior to dispatch.
POLITICAL POWER – Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages and refused to settle.
Race 7: BOB & THELMA FILBY CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1200 M
ANDY – Jumped in at the start and bumped with NEVETON. Steadied off heels at the 500 metres. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room throughout the final straight and passing the 100 metres had to steady when in restricted room to the outside of ELLEVES which when steadied off heels, shifted out marginally.
UNDER THE LIMIT – Bounded on jumping away and settled back.
NEVETON – Bumped at the start.
COLD POWER – Raced wide throughout.
QUEENSLANDER – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
ELLEVES – Improved onto heels passing the 150 metres and held up for the remainder.
Stewards spoke with the barrier staff regarding the starting processes, after the balance of the field anticipated the start due to a miscommunication.
Race 8: FILBY'S MOTORS 60 YEARS RATINGS BAND 0-55 HANDICAP 1000 M
DESERT MOON – Jumped out at the start bumping with ROCKET POWER
SENSATIONABULL – Finished distanced from the field. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.
CATALINA DREAMING – Jumped in at the start. Raced wide throughout.
KOITAKI SUNDAY – Shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of MADAM BORODINA. Hampered near the 400 metres when CHALKLEY improved onto heels.
MADAM BORODINA – Bumped at the start. Raced with cover throughout. Laid in over the final 100 metres.
CHALKLEY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection and was passed fit to start. Had to steady near the 900 metres when awkwardly placed to the inside of VALENTINO MISS which shifted in. Improved onto heels and had to steady near the 400 metres, coming back onto KOITAKI SUNDAY which was hampered.
ROCKET POWER - Jumped in at the start and bumped with DESERT MOON
VALENTINO MISS – Shifted in rounding the turn near the 900 metres crowding CHALKEY for a short distance. Rider Justin Stanley was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) and was advised to take greater care when in similar circumstances. Was not persevered with over the latter stages with rider Justin Stanley reporting that he had concerns with the mare’s actions passing the 500 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.
