GENERAL
 
AsApprentice Jockey C Sutherland was not riding at today’s meeting due to illness, rider replacements were made as per Stewards race day summary.
 
Stewards permitted the following overweights at today`s meeting:
Race 3: RICHUNCLEMONEYBAGS – Apprentice R Thorburn – Claim 1.5kg of 2kg (53.5kg)
Race 3: COMMENTS – T Banks +1kg (56kg)
Race 3: YES NO MAYBE SO – C Meehan +1kg (56kg)
 
Race 1: RES / GRAHAM WILSON MEMORIAL CLASS B HANDICAP 1050 Metres
 
FIREBIRD TWO – Jumped inwards at the start and bumped DENMAN BLUE.
 
WHEREDACRAWDADSIN – Bumped on jumping when ONE LAST TRICK began awkwardly and shifted outwards. Momentarily placed in restricted room passing the 900m when DESIGNING ARROW shifted in marginally. Jockey K Gates, rider ofDESIGNING ARROW was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground.
 
ARABIAN FOX – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages resulting in Apprentice Jockey M Mankelow requiring to stop riding and straighten the filly.
 
ONE LAST TRICK – Began awkwardly and bumped WHEREDACRAWDADSIN. Raced in restricted room for a short distance passing the 900m.
 
DENMAN BLUE – Bumped on jumping.
 
RED SHIRAZ – Raced wide throughout.
 
SEQUACIOUS – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
DESIGNING ARROW – Shifted in passing the 900m momentarily crowding WHEREDACRAWDADSIN,before being straightened by its rider. Shifted wider on the track passing the 850m and raced wide for the remainder of the event.
 
Race 2: COMBINED BUSINESS HOUSES OF KINGAROY & SOUTH BURNETT QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 2-Y-O & Up. 1175 Metres
 
Correct weight was delayed allowing the Trainer Mr C Geran and rider Apprentice Jockey L Sykes of second place getter, SHOTGUN SIXTYFOUR to view the Stewards footage of the home straight and the photo finish. When Trainer Mr Geran and Apprentice Jockey Sykes and Stewards were similarly satisfied, correct weight was given on the judges’ semaphored numbers.
 
SCOTTISH FARMER – Slow to begin. Bumped with SHOTGUN SIXTYFOUR on numerous occasions down the home straight.
 
FITZROY PLAIN – Jockey H Phillips reported that in her opinion, FITZROY PLAIN raced flat in today’s event and proved to be disappointing.
 
SHEZABLAST – Obliged to steady passing the 900m when HAIRY BEAN shifted in slightly.
 
SHOTGUN SIXTYFOUR – Bumped with SCOTTISH FARMER on numerous occasions down the home straight.
 
HAIRY BEAN – Began awkwardly before commencing to over race in the early stages. Shifted in slightly passing the 900m. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
THE UNDERGROUND – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 3: KEWPIE STOCKFEEDS BURNETT TO THE BEACH SERIES BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1175 Metres
 
KIRELLA SHORES – Began awkwardly.
 
RICHUNCLEMONEYBAGS – Slow to begin and lost ground. Raced wide.
 
BEATLEMANIA – Approaching the 1000m, shifted to the rail and was obliged to steady from the heels of YES NO MAYBE SO. Shifted wider on the home turn before shifting back to the rail passing the 150m to the inside of the weakening YES NO MAYBE SO.
 
YES NO MAYBE SO – Shifted off the rail entering the home straight before weakening from the 200m.
 
TRUE TALLY – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
LIPSTICK LIES – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide.
 
Race 4: SEILERS TRANSPORT / JIMS JERKY 2024 BATTLE OF THE BUSH BURRANDOWAN QUALIFIER OPEN PLATE 1175 Metres
 
The start of this race was delayed when MOSCINI proved to be difficult to load. Trainer Mr D Groves was advised a warning would be placed against the gelding for his barrier manners.
 
COYNES ROAD – Slow to begin and lost ground. Obliged to steady passing the 1000m when JELLISHOT shifted in. Jockey K Gates, rider of JELLISHOT, was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that she made insufficient effort to prevent her mount from shifting into the rightful running of COYNES ROAD, causing that horse to be checked by its rider and lose ground. 
 
DIGGITY – Shifted in marginally and bumped JELLISHOT passing the 600m. At a subsequent inquiry into the incident, Apprentice Jockey J Metcalfe the rider DIGGITY, in the presence of her Master, Trainer Wayne Nugent, was advised of her obligations to prevent her mount from shifting in when not clear of horses to her inside. It was determined by Stewards that on this occasion, Apprentice Metcalfe had made sufficient effort to attempt to keep her mount from shifting ground and no further action was taken.
 
LEGEND OF ZOR – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
SUBSTITUTION – Shifted in on jumping.
 
VILLAD – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
JELLISHOT – Shifted in passing the 1000m. Contacted the rail and lost ground passing the 600m when the mare was bumped by DIGGITY which shifted in marginally despite the efforts of its rider.
 
Race 5: KELLCO LIVESTOCK AGENTS / TOM HOARE MEMORIAL BURRANDOWAN CUP BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1740 Metres
 
LUCKY EXCHANGE – Steadied off heels entering the home straight after being disappointed for a run. Obliged to steady when disappointed for a run passing the 100m between VALENTINO TEASE which was laying in under pressure and HUSSONHOFF which shifted out slightly after being straightened by its rider. Went to the line without being fully tested.
 
HUSSONHOFF – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Shifted out slightly passing the 100m after being straightened by its rider.
 
BARCLAY'S BANK – Raced keenly in the early stages of the event. Shifted wide on the home turn.
 
VALENTINO TEASE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
GIRRAMAY – Passing the 400m, when tiring, blundered and became unbalanced for a short distance.  
 
SUDDEN SUSPECT – Restrained from the outside gate to take up a rearward position two off the rail. Jockey T Banks reported that SUDDEN SUSPECT resented the kickback from today’s racing surface.
 
LONERGY – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
DOUBLE BARRELL – Jockey K Gates reported that DOUBLE BARRELL was not suited by todays racing surface.
