Race 6: FELTON PRODUCE/LANDMARK HARCOURTS COOK M’DN PLATE – 1580M

STRYKINGLY SO- Hampered at the start. Stewards questioned App. B Mackie, in the presence of Senior riders Ms E Ljung and R Ride in relation to her riding of the gelding from the 900m. App. Mackie advised that after being caught wide in the early stages, she rode her mount along to find a position closer to the rails which she was able to do when obtaining the leading position near the 900m. App Mackie added that shortly after obtaining the lead she commenced to ride her mount along for its finishing effort. Having had the opportunity to review the patrol footage, App. Mackie agreed with Stewards that she erred in placing her mount under pressure from the 900m particularly bearing in mind the work the gelding was required to do to obtain the leading position. She further agreed that the best option would have been to wait until a point closer to turning for home prior to asking the horse for its finishing sprint. Stewards however were mindful of App. Mackie’s inexperience as an apprentice rider and therefore took the matter no further. Stewards also reminded App. Mackie of her obligations to ride her mount out to the finish.

BENICSTRESS- Whilst racing keenly near the 1400m, was placed in restricted room and was steadied.
