Henderson (starter) Race 1:EMERALD GRAINS CLASS B HANDICAP – 1000m PERLYSE WOMAN – tightened for room and lost ground when another runner to the outside shifted in. IMABARMAN – raced in restricted room and for a short distance approaching the 900m when ALOTFOX shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey W,Peel (the rider of ALOTAFOX) was reprimanded under AR.131(a) for careless riding. LETITRIPPOTATOCHIP – knuckled badly upon jumping. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had suffered a laceration to the off-fore heel. Trainer B. Hudson was advised that gelding would require a veterinary certificate prior to returning to race. AKLAVIK – restrained from heels at the 900m when RUN THE CUTTER shifted in. Apprentice T. Townsend (the rider of RUN THE CUTTER) was reprimanded under AR.131(a) for careless riding. RUN THE CUTTER – slow to begin. Raced three wide without cover throughout the middle stages. Race 2: PB AGRIFOOD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 1100m CLASSIC BEAU – difficult to load. Trainer S. Neylon was advised the gelding would require a barrier certificate prior to returning to race. CHOCOLATE OREO – began awkwardly tightening runners to the outside.JONDY JOY - tightened for room shortly after the start when another runner shifted out. ALLENA – tightened for room and lost ground when another runner to the outside shifted in. HE’S A MORAL – began awkwardly tightening runners to the inside. Over raced for a short distance approaching the 900m before settling at the tail of the field. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, Jockey J. Oliver advised that in his opinion the gelding resented the kick back of today’s event and as a result failed to respond to hard riding. Stewards noted Jockey Oliver’s explanation. NEW ALLIANCE – Difficult to load. Trainer R. Hilton was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding. Race 3: RAY BUNCH MACHINERY QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1100m After all horses were loaded, a false start occurred when the barriers opened prematurely. As a consequence, all runners galloped varying distances before being restrained by their riders and returned to the barriers. In this incident, Jockey N. Evens (TOP TINKA) was dislodged and mare galloped a considerable distance riderless. Upon returning to the barriers, all runners underwent a veterinary examination, following which all runners were passed fit to start with the exception of MASSIE WHISPER, CRAIGLEA OSCAR and TOP TINKA which was scratched by order of the stewards. All three runner were scratched at 3:20pm. Stewards ordered that all monies invested MASSIE WHISPER, CRAIGLEA OSCAR and TOP TINKA be refunded with the following deductions to apply: 0 cents in the dollar for the win - #7 18 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - #7 5 cents in the dollar for 2nd placegetter – #12 19 cents in the dollar for 3rd placegetter - #2No further racing incidents. Race 4: PACIFIC SEEDS / PURSEHOUSE RURAL CLIFTON CUP BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP – 1580mRATHER SALUBRIOUS – raced three wide without over throughout the early and middle stages. JUST FAVULOUS – began awkwardly. FAST ARLI – slow to begin. MARLAHN – began awkwardly. raced wide without cover throughout. Race 5: LANDMARK HARCOURTS COOKE / FELTON PRODUCE MAIDEN PLATE – 1580m GALLOPINAKIS – hung out rounding the home turn taking another runner to the outside wider on the track. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.SIMDERELLA – taken wider on the track by another runner to the inside rounding the home turn. MY COUSIN BOSSY – fractious in barriers. Began awkwardly. Shifted out abruptly shortly after the start and took no competitive part in the event. Trainer K. Kerwin was advised the mare would require a barrier certificate prior to returning to race. THE MOA FACTOR – Jockey W. O’connell was fined $200 under AR.190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. Stewards permitted Jockey O’connell to ride the filly due to no other riders being available.
