Race 1: - Haymes Paint Benchmark 45 Handicap (1000m)
 
 METRO MISSILE- Jockey M Abe was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
DRAGON PINS- After being fractious made contact with a gate post on exiting the mounting yard and consequently underwent a pre-race veterinary examination behind the barriers and was passed fit to start. Slow to begin.
NOT TONIGHT DEAR- Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
VAMPARINA- Raced wide throughout.
EXOCET ROCKET- A post-race veterinary examination found the gelding to have bled from the right side nostril in running. Acting under the provisions of AR79(8) Stewards advised Trainer K Miller that the gelding would be required to gallop 1000m satisfactorily in the presence of a Steward prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
 
Race 2: - TJC Benchmark 45 Handicap (1000m)
 
REAR VIEW MIRROR- Slow into stride.
ELITE JET- Slow to begin.
CRAIGLEA ALTONA- Shifted out on jumping bumping with another runner.
MUNRO- Bumped by another runner which shifted out on jumping. Raced wide the majority.
SIXTY ONE TIGERS- Commenced to lay in for some distance soon after jumping.
RAPTCHA’U- Obliged to steady when awkwardly placed on the heels of another runner which was inclined to hang out rounding the 600m turn.
MISS ESTER- Inclined to hang out rounding the 600m turn.
ISIS JECTALE- Inclined to lay out under pressure down the running momentarily hampering another runner passing the 100m. Raced wide the majority.
DUNNYS STAR- Momentarily inconvenienced by another runner which laid out under pressure passing the 100m.
 
 
Race 3: - Herbert Hall Enterprises QTIS Maiden Plate (1200m)
 
GOLD REVENGE- Was declared a late scratching by order of Stewards at 11:50am when no suitable rider was available.
DIYOSA- Shifted in on jumping tightening another runner.
MOGALAKWENA- Shifted out on jumping tightening another runner and, despite the efforts of it rider, continued to lay out placing that runner in restricted room for some distance. On returning to the mounting yard the saddle was found to have shifted on the mare in running. Nonetheless Trainer J Manzelmann was advised a warning would be placed on the mares racing manners.
QUEZMAR- Inclined to lay out under pressure down the running. Shifted out abruptly passing the 50m, despite the efforts of its rider, causing CIDER APPLE (W D’Avila) to be restrained. Jockey G Kliese was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) as a result of this incident.
CIDER APPLE- Buffeted between runners on jumping losing ground. Obliged to restrain passing the 50m when a runner to the inside shifted out.
MOLONGLE DRIFTER- Shifted out and away from another runner which shifted out abruptly passing the 50m. Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 4: - Annavale Brahmans Benchmark 55 Handicap (1200m)
 
TYRANNIZE- Was declared a late scratching at 1:20pm on veterinary advice after becoming fractious in the horse transport vehicle and injuring its off-hind leg. Trainer R Vagg was advised the gelding would require a veterinary certificate prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
AMUTHON- Trainer R Rohde advised Stewards that, should circumstances permit, it would be their intention to have the gelding ridden more positively than in its previous starts.
HIT SNOOZE- Began very awkwardly and lost ground as a result. Raced wide the majority.
FLUIDITY- On returning to scale Jockey S Sheargold advised, that in his opinion, the mare raced keenly in the early stages.
Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards and Jockey A Holt, rider of HIT SNOOZE, to view the footage of the start to ascertain whether there were grounds to be declared a non-runner. After viewing the patrol footage Stewards were comfortable satisfied that the barrier manners of the gelding were the cause of its being slow away and subsequently declared correct weight on the judges semaphored numbers.
 
 
Race 5: - CPR Group Benchmark 65 Handicap (1400m)
 
FLUIDITY- Slow away. On returning to the mounting yard presented with a slight cough. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer J Barr was advised to inform Stewards should anything become apparent concerning the horses condition become apparent in the coming days.
SIZZLING SUN- Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running.
RESORT- Raced wide the majority.
SIR VAN DYKE- After being marginally slow away raced wide throughout and performed disappointingly. Jockey G Watson advised that after traveling well throughout the gelding failed to respond when pressured down the running and finished off disappointingly. Trainer I Shaw suggested the gelding did not handle the track conditions, this being its first start on a dirt track, and advised he intended to restrict the gelding to racing on grass surfaces in future. Stewards noted the explanations. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
 
Race 6: - C&B Designs Class B Handicap (1600m)
 
The start of this race was delayed to allow for PAPER TALK to be resaddled behind the barriers.
PRINCESS MISAKA- Slow to begin. Failed to muster the early speed required to maintain a contact with the field and tailed off, before finishing off fairly. Jockey J Felix advised that, in his opinion, the mare struggled with the pace set throughout the race but let down well. Stewards noted the explanation.
TRAVERS- Hung out rounding the 1400m turn taking another runner wider. Jockey G Kliese was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(5) in that he did use his whip in an excessive manner (16 times) throughout the race. In determining penalty Stewards considered Jockey Kliese’s good record in relation to the rule.
PAPER TALK- Taken wider by another runner which hung out rounding the 1400m turn.
GETOUT OF MY NEIGH- Jockey G Watson was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(5) in that he did use his whip in an excessive manner (15 times) throughout the race. In determining penalty Stewards considered Jockey Watsons record in relation to the rule.
