GENERAL
Due to predicted sultry weather conditions, this race meeting was conducted within the provisions of the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission Caring for Racing Animals in Extreme Heat Policy.
 
Race 1. CURLEY’S TRANSPORT / TOM’S QUALITY MEATS MAIDEN PLATE 1000m
 
DREAMING HIGH – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly.
 
YOUCUDAHAD DIS – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 800m raced ungenerously for a short distance after being crossed by another runner.
 
SIMPLE MELODY – Slowly into stride after being buffeted between runners on jumping.
 
BORROMEO – Bumped with a runner to its inside after shifting in on jumping. Slow to muster early pace. Jockey S Sheargold reported the gelding was inclined to hang in throughout the event. Trainer R Stagg was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
 
CATE RULES – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
FINDLETON – Bumped by another runner on jumping.
 
Race 2. GOODWIN FAMILY BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP (1) 1200m
 
SILENTUS – Slowly away.
 
BATTLE MOUNTAIN – Shifted out on jumping, bumping with a runner to its outside.
 
TRAVERS – Began awkwardly.
 
STAR SINGER – Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority.
 
MISS VALLETTA – Slowly away. Shifted out on jumping bumping with a runner to its outside. Bumped with the same runner on several occasions passing the 900m.
 
SCOTTABEE - Shifted in on jumping bumping with a runner to its inside. Bumped with the same runner on several occasions passing the 900m.
 
BELAR BLUE – Raced wide for the majority.
 
METRO MISSILE – Slowly into stride. Raced wide for the majority.
 
CAPTAIN’S PICK – Inclined to lay in in the early stages. Raced wide for the majority.
 
JACK’S DREAM - Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 3. TABLELAND VETERINARY SERVICES BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP (2) 1200m
 
TOTAL DISDAIN – Began awkwardly.
 
MORE THAN GOOD – Slowly away.
 
ARTE ET MARTE – Raced wide for the majority. Unable to be fully tested over the concluding stages when crowded for room between runners.
 
TWO OF A KIND – Raced wide for the majority.
 
BACCHUR – Raced wide for the majority.
 
SERIOUSLY HAPPY – Shifted out under pressure down the running crowding a runner to its outside.
 
On returning to scale App R Shred (DANCE AROUND) reported that the gates on the barrier (7) from which the mare jumped had been slow to open. After viewing the head-on patrol footage, Stewards were able to confirm that this was the case, resulting in DANCE AROUND being denied a fair start, and acting under the provisions of AR204 the mare was declared a non-runner. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on DANCE AROUND be refunded in full and further that all successful wagers placed on the event be subject to deductions of 9 cents win and 10 cents place in the dollar on the face value of the betting ticket.
 
Prior to Race 4 barrier 7 was adjusted, tested and found to be functioning properly.
 
Stewards intend to interview licensees R Finch and S Sheargold in relation to an incident which took place following the running of this race.
 
Race 4. EAGLE DRILLING BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200m
 
CRAIGLEA ALTONA – Slowly away.
 
MOLONGLE CHIEF – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
HI ZERO – Raced 3 wide for the majority of the event.
 
Race 5. TOWERS FAMILY DENTAL BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1400m
 
Jockey P Cullen who was dislodged from NICCONI PASQUALE enroute to the barriers declined assistance from QAS Officers and declared himself fit to fulfil the engagement. Post-race Jockey Cullen advised Stewards that he had sustained what he believed to be a minor injury to his left ankle, and would seek medical attention following the race meeting. Jockey Cullen was advised he will require a medical clearance prior to his next race ride.
 
NICCONI PASQUALE – Trailed the field throughout, tiring noticeably over the concluding stages.
 
DON’T CHEAT CHARLIE – Slowly into stride. Raced wide for the majority.
 
TIME FOR US – Buffeted between runners on jumping. Lost near hind plate near the 1300m.
 
WE’LL BEAT IT - Shifted out on jumping bumping with a runner to its outside.
 
GO DIAMONDS – Shifted in on jumping bumping with a runner to its inside.
 
SINGLE STORY - Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 6. HAMMER & CO TOWERS JC BRACELET QTIS CLASS 3 PLATE 1000m
 
MISS KOKKINAKIS – The mare, which was resuming after a prolonged absence from racing, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority. Tired noticeably over the concluding stages.
 
KOBY’S STRATEGY – Shifted out on jumping bumping with a runner to its outside.
 
REDESKI - Bumped by another runner on jumping.
 
ENCORONADA – Inconvenienced when racing tight between runners soon after the start.
 
VARSITY - Raced wide for the majority.
 
MOLONGLE SURPRISE – Shifted wider near the 500m racing wide from that point.
