RACE 1: WESTERN MEAT EXPORTERS CLASS 1 PLATE 1400M –
1st –Beautiful Kea 2nd –Elimination 3rd-Craiglea Pursuit 4th –Clinto Khan
CATCHING (C Bryen) was hampered at the start by BEAUTIFUL KEA (R Cox) which was taken out by ELIMINATION (E Wilson).
SONNY DA SILVER (S Sweedman) raced wide for the majority of the event.
Stewards questioned trainer C Baker regarding the improved performance of BEAUTIFUL KEA. Mrs Baker stated that she was confident that the gelding would run a forward race today as it previously performed best over 1400m. Mrs Baker further stated that she had altered the training program of the gelding in preparation for today’s event to ensure it handled the step up in distance to 1400m. Stewards noted Mrs Baker’s explanation.
RACE 2: LIFE MEMBERS MAIDEN PLATE 1000M–
1st –Arhay 2nd –Amarocco Special 3rd –Mijulae 4th –Get That Indya
NORTH OSSETIA was declared a late scratching at 8:25am due to no rider being available.
DOURADO was declared a late scratching at 8:30am due to no rider being available.
GET THAT INDYA (R Kerwin) jumped out at the start hampering KWILATYPE (D Monaghan).
Shortly after the start AMAROCCO SPECIAL (C Bryen) shifted in making heavy contact with WAITE ON (R Hurley).
GET THAT INDYA and MIJULAE (S Sweedman) both hung out rounding the home turn.
Near the 150m, RIGHT ROYAL SALVO (R Cox) was tightened for room and forced to check when racing to the inside of BADOOM (P Spry) which shifted in and away from CONATUS FLASH (D Baker) which shifted in under pressure despite the best efforts of its rider.
RACE 3: ANNIVERSARY OPEN H’CAP 1000M-
1st –Verge of Discovery 2nd –Starman 3rd –Barricades 4th –Café Bar
WOODSY (E Wilson) and CAFÉ BAR (R Cox) were both slow to begin.
A post race Veterinary Inspection of CAFÉ BAR revealed the gelding had bowed its near fore tendon. Trainer B Waldron was advised that CAFÉ BAR would require a Veterinary Clearance prior to next race start.
RACE 4: TOWER HARDWARE CLASS 3 PLATE 1000M-
1st- Sadliers Crossing 2nd- Sedan 3rd- Master Artist 4th- Swoops
TO FAST TO GOOD was declared a late scratching at 8: 30am as no rider was available.
HURRI LOVE was declared a late scratching at 2:00pm as no rider was available.
FIREMAN (D Monaghan) was severely hampered at the start by SEDAN (S Sweedman) which jumped in.
SIR ROY (C Dixon) began very awkwardly making contact with the barrier partition and lost ground.
Rounding the 700m turn, STOMP THE YARD (R Kerwin) shifted out making contact with the hind quarters of MARSKE PRINCE (R Hurley) which inturn shifted in slightly. As a result STOMP THE YARD became unbalanced and lost ground.
RACE 5: LES BAKER MEMORIAL OPEN H’CAP 1400M
1st-Desert Hayil 2nd-Scuderia 3rd-Chief Inspector 4th-Merry Pierce
PANKKI (P Spry) was slow into stride.
