Race 3 - N. Yamada, rider of 6th placegetter SHINZIGZAG, was fined $200 for failing to ride his mount right out to the finish of the race.
GENERAL
Apprentice N. Morton was issued with a reprimand for failing to present a letter of authority from her master.
Race 1 BOOKMAKER’S MAIDEN PLATE 1100M:
DING DONG (E. Heinemann) jumped in at the start.
HEARTILY (Q. Krogh) jumped away awkwardly.
KENTUCKY BOMBER (D. Brown) jumped in at the start and made contact with NOTHING BUT GOLD (N. Morton).
SCHIEHALLION (G. Steele) was slow to begin and as a result raced wide throughout.
When questioned into the seemingly disappointing performance of SCHIEHALLION apprentice G. Steele stated that her instructions were to obtain a forward position and that after beginning slowly she was forced to race further back than anticipated and as a result raced wide throughout. Apprentice G. Steele further added that the gelding was placed under pressure in the early stages and was unable to make up the necessary ground over the concluding stages.
Race 2 JIM PUGSLEY BENCHMARK 70 HCP 1000M:
TELL ME NO LIES (B. Newport) stood flat footed at the start and lost considerable ground.
SECRETS REVEALED (C. Rogers) raced wide throughout.
When questioned into the seemingly disappointed performance of TELL ME NO LIES, apprentice B. Newport stated that after beginning slowly the mare was placed under pressure in the early stages and despite his best efforts to improve its position it failed to respond to his riding and in his opinion proved disappointing. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
Race 3 ANNIVERSARY CLASS B HCP 1000M:
LITTLE FOU was a late scratching at 10:10am. Stewards questioned
Trainer R. Frazer in regards to the late scratching of LITTLE FOU. After considering all evidence, stewards in issuing a reprimand took into account Mr. Frazer’s very good record in relation to similar matters relating to this rule.
BELLAVON (E. Heinemann) began awkwardly and lost ground. Trainer Mr. R. McMaster reported to stewards that it was his intention to enter BELLAVON in a jump out prior to the mare’s next start.
