Rudd regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding, particularly leaving the 900m, when he shifted from a position on the fence to be very wide without cover. Jockey J. Rudd advised that in his opinion the gelding is better suited in a trailing position and does not travel comfortably in a position with cover, around other horses and for that reason he elected to shift out near the 900m to allow the gelding settle. Jockey J. Rudd agreed with stewards that rather than covering extra ground by shifting wider on the track his best option would have been to remain in a position on the fence with cover however given its previous starts he elected not to do so. He also added that in the straight his saddle shifted and that when the gelding commenced to lay in it proved difficult to ride out. Stewards noted the explanation.
