GENERAL:
 
Stewards accepted late rider declarations in Race 2; SILVER FOX (L. Tilley), BENDIE BOY (B. Richardson) and Race 5; FLATLEY’S FORTUNE(B. Richardson).
 
QRIC IIT department conducted multiple stable inspections Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Upon inspection Friday afternoon IIT stewards had concerns with an lesion on the near side neck of PROGIRL. Trainer P. Richardson explained that it was an abscess that had been there for some time, which had been monitored on a regular basis by himself and his veterinarian. On Saturday morning prior to scratching deadlines based on a report from the Raceday Veterinarian, and as the Stewards were satisfied that this was an old injury and not consistent with any form of recent treatment, the mare was permitted to race. A pre-race blood sample was taken from the mare.
 
RACE 1: ALL WHITES RLFC MAIDEN PLATE 1000M
 
The start was delayed when a number of runners proved difficult to load.
 
The start was further delayed when HOBKEN STORM refused to load. Subsequently was declared a late scratching at 2:11pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies invested on HOBKEN STORM be refunded with the following deductions to apply-
 
1st- 4 cents the win,     10 cents the place.
2nd-                              12 cents the place.
3rd –                             8 cents the place.
 
Trainer R. Frazer was advised that the gelding would require a barrier certificate prior to racing again.
 
SCHMIZO – Began awkwardly. Rider L. Tilley reported that after the gelding began awkwardly he became unbalanced and lost his left iron momentarily.
 
HEY AMIGO – Slow to begin.
 
LADY MAGIC – Laid out round the home turn and in the home straight.
 
JAMAZEM – Bumped by another runner near the 150m.
 
ELEGANT MISS – Raced wide without cover throughout.

 
RACE 2: MERV & NORA WADE MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1200M
 
MULGA THUMPER – Blundered badly at the start losing considerable ground.
 
PROGIRL – Post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
LASSZOU – Blundered at the start losing ground.
 
LINKED – Began awkwardly.
 
PART THE SEA – Raced wide throughout.
 
SET TO CONQUER – Raced wide throughout.
 
BENDIE BOY – Raced in restricted room and had to be steadied near the 1000m. Leaving the 1000m commenced to hang out proving difficult to ride. Trainer G. Bignell was advised that a warning would be placed on the geldings record.
 
HIDDEN CHIEF – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
SCENT OF A WOMAN – Approaching the home turn became very awkward in its action and lost ground. Post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
 
RACE 3: CECIL ADCOCK MEMORIAL OPEN PLATE 1200M
 
 
BECKHAM – Tightened for room near the 1100m and lost ground. Near the 1000m tightened for room and lost ground. Near the 700m raced in restricted room and had to be steadied.
 
CANALASSO – Began awkwardly. Bumped shortly after the start. Near the 1100m raced in restricted room. Near the 1000m raced in restricted room. Near the 700m was taken in by DE VILLIERS which laid in despite the efforts of its rider.
 
DE VILLIERS – Bumped shortly after the start. Raced in restricted room near the 1100m when FAB’S COWBOY shifted in. Apprentice A. Thompson was reprimanded. Raced in restricted room near the 1000m, when FABS COWBOY was taken in by WALLBANGER which shifted in. Jockey L. Tilley was reprimanded.
 
NUDE SECRETS – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
 
RACE 4: THE TEAM OF 1986 BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1600M
 
KULABA – Raced in restricted room for a short distance leaving the 800m.
 
TRAIL BUSTER – Began awkwardly.
 
GRAVITY FORCE – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. 
 
OH NO NOT AGAIN – Stood flat footed and lost ground. Trainer C. Baker was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding.
 
YOU CAN’T BE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
HUSSON’S SHOUT – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
RACE 5: THE LAST HURRAH BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 800M
 
 
The start was delayed when DENMAN DREAMING became fractious in the barriers and EQUAL RULER broke through the gates and galloped a considerable distance. Subsequently both horses were declared a late scratchings at 4:48pm on vets advice. Upon the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies invested on DENMAN DREAMING and EQUAL RULER  be refunded with the following deductions to apply-
 
1st-  4 cents the win,    14 cents the place.
2nd-                              19 cents the place.
3rd-                               14 cents the place.
 
Trainer E. Johnson was advised that a warning would be placed on DENMAN DREAMING record.
 
TIANANMEN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled  from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer K. McGovern was advised that the gelding would be barred from racing for a period of 3 months and would require to complete a 1000m gallop in the presence of a steward prior to racing again.
 
NICCO’S LASS – Raced wide throughout.
 
CLASSIC WIND – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
OLIVIA ‘N’ ME – Raced wide throughout.
