General

Stewards reconvened an inquiry into the reasons why LOTHBROK and BETTER OFFER fell at the 800m  at Morven on 8 September 2018. After taking evidence from Jockey C. Rogers (the rider of LOTHBROOK) and Jockey J. Rudd (the rider of BETTER OFFER), stewards concluded that when racing keenly on the heels of runners racing in a forward position, BETTER OFFER clipped heels, blundered and fell. As a result, LOTHBROOK fell following a subsequent collision with the other fallen horse and jockey. Stewards could not contribute blame to any party involved in the incident and therefore deemed the matter a racing incident.
