QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT CENTRAL WARREGO RACE CLUB – CHARLEVILLE – SATURDAY 11 APRIL 2020 WEATHER – FINETRACK RATING – GOOD (SAND) RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – B. Weir GENERAL Stewards accepted the explanation provided by trainer J. Hatch regarding his inability to attend the meeting today due to overnight rainfall at his property. Race 1: CHARLEVILLE RSL MAIDEN PLATE – 800M The start of this race was delayed to enable the broadcast of an interstate event. IRISH SPIRIT – Laid out for a short distance approaching the 700m. GENERAL MO – Blundered at the start and lost ground. KELSEY LAKE – Reared over in the enclosure and dislodged its rider. The filly underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Jockey H. Phillips was fined $300 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration jockey Phillips’ recent poor record in relation to this rule. Race 2: CHARLEVILLE REFRIGERATION & ELECTRICAL BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 800M ALPHA ENA – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Inclined to hang out throughout. Race 3: JONES SMASH REPAIRS CHARLEVILLE BENCHMARK 45 H’CAP – 1000M SONA DANCER – Shifted in at the 900m and, in doing so, placed a runner to its inside in restricted room. Apprentice T. Townsend, the rider of SONA DANCER, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in the future. SPIRIT’S FIRST – Bumped by another runner to its outside on jumping away. MIGHTY SUCCESS – Began awkwardly and bumped another runner to its inside. When questioned by Stewards, jockey J. Rudd could offer no tangible explanation for the mare’s seemingly disappointing performance today. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare revealed no apparent abnormalities. JABBS – Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 900m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 4: RAHEEN STUD RATINGS BAND 0-50 H’CAP – 1400M HEEBEE RIGHT MATE – When questioned by Stewards in relation to the seemingly disappointing performance, jockey C. Bryen advised that his mount resented the kickback in the early stages, and after getting to the outside of runners in the home straight, made strong late ground. VISERION – Declared a late scratching at 7.45am as there was no rider available. PART THE SEA – Raced wide without cover throughout. GREAT SHINE – Began awkwardly. GEISSLER – When questioned by Stewards in relation to the seemingly improved performance, trainer M. Johnstone advised that after getting back in the field at its last start, the horse resented the kickback and, in his opinion, it was better suited on the pace today. He added that the horse was also better suited on this track today. Race 5: POWER IT CHARLEVILLE BENCHMARK 55 H’CAP – 1000M The start of this race was delayed when WAKE UP SAILOR proved difficult to load. Trainer W. Pugsley was advised that a warning will be placed on the horse. WAIT A MINUTE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 6: CHARLEVILLE HOME SERVICE CENTRE QTIS OPEN PLATE – 1200M SCRABBLE – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. SPLITZ – Bumped by another runner on jumping away. SILENT FLYER – Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 1100m when a runner to its outside shifted in. Steadied from heels for a short distance from the 500m. SHADOW PRINCE – Began awkwardly and made heavy contact with a runner to its inside. Shifted in near the 1100m and placed another runner to its inside in restricted room. Jockey G. Steele, the rider of SHADOW PRINCE, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in the future. CLASSIC WIND – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost ground. Trainer M. Johnstone was advised that a warning will be placed on the horse’s barrier manners. SHE’S TIDY – Improved onto heels whilst racing keenly at a point approaching the 1000m and had to be restrained for a short distance.
