QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT CENTRAL WARREGO RACE CLUB CHARLEVILLE – SATURDAY, 10 AUGUST 2024 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – SAND RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – E. TicknerStewards – W. Glass Race 1: BATTLE OF BEERSHEBA BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP (1050m) BEST SIDE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. MISTREY EMPEROR – Trainer W. Pugsley was reprimanded under AR106(1) for failing to present the gelding with bandages, part of the gelding’s approved gear. Raced keenly in the early stages. SEEBURG – Began awkwardly and bumped. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. LAYLAH’S WISH – Crowded between runners on jumping and bumped. Raced wide and without cover until the 600m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Rider B. Newport reported the mare proved disappointing when placed under pressure. Race 2: ‘KOKODA’ OPEN HANDICAP (1050m) STRATEGIC POSITION – Began awkwardly. DERBARI – Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. ZA HIDDEN DRAGON – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 3: WARRANT OFFICER E.W. (TED) CLARK MEMORIAL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE (1050m) EDWARDS – Harmlessly dislodged Apprentice S. Zoljan enroute to the barriers before quickly being recaptured. Apprentice Zoljan was examined by QAS Officers and deemed fit to fulfill her remaining engagements. Raced wide and without cover for majority of the event. Laid in under pressure in the early part of the home straight. Shifted out abruptly approaching the 100m before being corrected by its rider. ROGUE ARTIST – Began awkwardly. TORELLIANA – Slow to begin. Commenced to give ground approaching the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare, which was beaten 23L, revealed no abnormalities. Trainer C. Baker was advised a warning would be placed on the mare’s record for the poor performance. Race 4: BATTLE OF LONG TAN BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP (1200m) TRANSCELTIC – Began awkwardly. GREEK STAR – Raced wide and without cover until the 800m. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. CRAZY RUSSIAN – When questioned regarding the performance, Rider B. Newport advised in his opinion, the gelding would be better suited over further distances. MURION – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages. JAMAICAN – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. INHISTIME – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Race 5: CHARLEVILLE RSL ‘DIGGERS’ BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP (1400m) COLHOUN – Raced wide and without cover until the 800m. LASCO – Apprentice S. Zoljan was fined $100 under AR143(14)(a) for only claiming 2kg of her 2.5kg allowance. Began awkwardly. MY DAY – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. MR DEMOLITION – Late scratching on Stewards’ orders at 8am. Trainer C. Baker was reprimanded under LR68(1) for failing to scratch the gelding by the prescribed time. In assessing the matter, Stewards noted the scratching of the gelding had not prevented another runner from obtaining a start. BAUHINIA BEANS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. TREBLA – Rider J. Rudd advised that in his opinion, the gelding would derive significant fitness benefit from the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
