RHYTHM NATION (M Cox) hung in in the home straight which proved difficult for the apprentice to ride out to the best of her ability.
Apprentice R Ride was cautioned for allowing RUSTIC PLAY to steadily move in over the last 50m placing IN MY FACE in restricted room causing the rider to steady his mount.
RACE 2. POSITION QTIS MAIDEN 1030M
Trainer B Park advised that he was forced to scratch BLUGIRL as he was unable to secure a rider.
ELIZA JOY struck the mounting yard gate sustaining superficial injuries to her near side hind leg. The mare was examined by the veterinarian in the mounting yard and at the barriers and was passed to race.
SHADOWY PAST (B Newport) which was restless in the stalls was then slow into stride.
In the first 100m ASTRO NASCENTE (L Appo) appeared to shy away from BEST MEMORY (S Apthorpe) ducking out quickly, as a result MURPHY’S SUNRISE (D McIntosh) which was moving across to the rails inside PICK AND RUN (N Evans) was eased when tightened for room.
Approaching the home turn SHADOWY PAST ran wide taking MURPHY’S SUNRISE wider on the track. On straightening SHADOWY PAST moved out on two occasions under the whip causing MURPHY’S SUNRISE to be eased. Apprentice B Newport was severely reprimanded for allowing SHADOWY PAST to shift out under hard riding when not clear of MURPHY’S SUNRISE.

RACE 5 RAY WHITE RURAL/CHINCHILLA REAL ESTATE CLASS4 HCP 1400m
SHANGHI (D McIntosh) was slow to jump.
Jockey L Appo reported that NOT WITHOUT SIN did not appear to have backed up from a hard run at its last start and raced flat. Trainer M Goodwin confirmed that the gelding may have felt the effects of its last run on a very humid day at Rockhampton.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of COBBANVILLA, trainer J Hearne advised that the gelding did not handle the cushion surface at Toowoomba at its previous start and that the start before that the horse did not run out the 1960m at Dalby. He added that a return to a more suitable class and an ideal distance of today’s race, that he expected a strong showing from COBBANVILLA which had also worked well during the week. Explanation noted.
