Fields Bookmakers Supervisor – QRIC Stewards GENERALDue to rain forecast for the afternoon, the starting time of Race 5 was amended to 3.35pm, and Race 6 to 4.05pm. RACE 1: BOODLES CONCRETE BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP - 1200m The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Apprentice J. Brand to view the photo finish image. Apprentice Brand was satisfied with the photo and stewards subsequently declared correct weight on the judge’s placings. ALL IN ALL – Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. Apprentice N. Keal was reprimanded for failing to weigh in for fifth place. BAY RUST – Slow to begin. PURE SUNSET – Raced wide throughout the middle stages. RACE 2: THE CARLTON DRAUGHT CLASS B HANDICAP - 1030m DUBLE MEANING – Began awkwardly. ANXPENSE – Hung out badly rounding the home turn. Trainer P. Sexton was advised a warning would be placed on the horse. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages. MONTE VICTORY – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. Forced wider rounding the home turn. PICK OF THE PUBS – Began awkwardly. Forced wider rounding the home turn. EXCEEDINGLY KOOL – Bumped with another runner to the outside shortly after the start. Forced wider rounding the home turn. SIR BAM – Bumped with another runner to the inside shortly after the start. Forced wider rounding the home turn. THE SMUGGLER – Trainer L. Baker was fined $100 for the late declaration of L. Tilley as the rider of the gelding. Forced wider rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure in the home straight and had to be checked from heels at the 100m. RACE 3: THE WDC OPEN HANDICAP - 1030M CORRYVRECKAN – Began awkwardly, making contact with the outside barrier. THINKHESAURUS – Began awkwardly. Made contact with another runner to the outside shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, trainer M. Kropp advised the gelding races better when able to obtain a leading position, which it was unable to do after beginning awkwardly and losing ground. HIDDEN DUCK – Made contact with another runner shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout. CONFIDENT STAR – Apprentice J. Brand reported at scale that the gelding was inclined to hang out rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. SCREAMING JET - Laid in under pressure in the home straight. RACE 4: PATRON’S QTIS MAIDEN PLATE - 1400MThe declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Apprentice N. Keal to view the race film over the concluding stages. After viewing the film, Apprentice Keal declined to lodge an objection and correct weight was subsequently declared on the judge’s numbers. ROSES MLADY – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout the middle stages. MARKOVER – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. RACE 5: BLACK TOYOTA CHINCHILLA CUP OPEN HANDICAP - 1400m LEAVESDEN – Began awkwardly and lost ground. TAPESTRY VISION – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. BILLY GOAT - When questioned regarding the improved performance, Trainer M. Kropp advised that in his opinion the addition of blinkers to the horse’s gear and the drop in class from its previous start contributed to the horse’s improved performance. Stewards noted Mr. Kropp’s comments. RACE 6: CALTEX STARMART CHINCHILLA BANCHMARK 55 HANDICAP - 1400m OUR DEB – Tightened for room shortly after the start. COLD AS ICE - Tightened for room shortly after the start. IT’S ALL IRISH – Trainer D. Baker reported that the gelding would now be retired. M’SIEUR MONTPELIER – Raced wide throughout. JORJA’S JET – Hung out rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
