Henderson Judge – Club Clerk of Scales – QRIC Stewards Bookmakers Supervisor – QRIC Stewards GENERALDue to rain forecast for the afternoon, the starting times were amended as follows:Race 2 – 2.05pmRace 3 – 2.40pmRace 4 – 3.15pmRace 5 – 4.00pm RACE 1: K & R PLUMBING SUPPLIES BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP - 1400m PEGGY LEIGH – Jockey L. Tilley advised Stewards he had been instructed to ride the filly in a more rearward position than at its previous start. Subsequently settled midfield. COMMANDER BOLTZ – Finished tailed off. Trainer K. Bolton advised the gelding was having its first start following a significant spell and was better suited to races over more distance than today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Following the running of this event, the track was downgraded to a Good 3. RACE 2: CHINCHILLA CASKET & NEWS RATINGS BAND 0-55 HANDICAP - 1200m ROGER THAT – Steadied from heels when racing keenly near the 900m. ROCKLEA RAIDER – When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer S. Neylon advised the gelding was suited by dropping back in distance and class in today’s event. RACE 3: KURTZ ELECTRICAL MAIDEN PLATE - 1030M SAN ANDREAS – Worked keenly in the preliminary and was then reluctant to approach the barriers. Examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field. Bumped shortly after the start. Jockey M. Cox reported the gelding raced greenly throughout and was reluctant to race between other runners. KAPACHINO MISS – Began awkwardly and shifted in, bumping another runner. JET LIONER – Began awkwardly and shifted out, bumping another runner. FRONT FOOT – As the gelding cast a hind plate prior to the event and was unable to be replated, Stewards gave permission for the gelding to race bare behind. Hung out throughout the event, and shifted out significantly rounding the home turn. Trainer P. Sexton advised Stewards the gelding would now be retired; nonetheless, Stewards informed him FRONT FOOT would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to any return to racing. NIMIA – Began awkwardly. Forced wider and hampered rounding the home turn by FRONT FOOT, which shifted out despite the efforts of its rider. RACE 4: BLACK TRUCK SALES VIC BLACK MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP - 1030MA TISSUE A TISSUE – Began awkwardly. JAMES IS BLONDE – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. THE ROBBER – Shifted in under pressure in the home straight. RACE 5: GLEESON QUALITY MEATS CLASS B HANDICAP - 1030m CONNOR – Fractious in the barriers. Examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field. ARCHDUKE – Began awkwardly and bumped another runner. ANXPENSE – Bumped at the start. NEWCASTLE DANCER – Began awkwardly and bumped another runner. BRAZEN JAKE – Slow to begin. Raced wide rounding the home turn and laid in under pressure in the home straight. JAMMO JACK – Slow to begin. ACADINI – Began awkwardly.
