RACE 1: CHINCHILLA NEWSAGENCY RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 HANDICAP 1030M
 
The declaration of correct weight was delayed slightly to allow trainer B. Hudson and jockey B. Derbyshire,the connections of 5th placegetter DUBLE MEANING the opportunity to view he stewards’ patrol footage over the concluding stages to ascertain whether there were grounds to lodge an objection against 2nd placegetter HIZOU. After viewing the film, indicted that they did not wish to proceed.
 
OTOSHI – Tightened for room at the start.
 
LAST ROUND – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
 
DUBLE MEANING – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. When racing keen had to be  steadied from heels near the 800m. Held up over the concluding stages and was unable to be fully tested.
 
KINGSMITH FLYER – Began awkwardly.
 
RACE 2: CLUB HOTEL CLASS B HANDICAP 1200M
 
The declaration of correct weight was delayed slightly to allow trainer B. Andrews and jockey B. Derbyshire,the connections of 3rd placegetter MAXWELL the opportunity to view he stewards’ patrol footage over the concluding stages to ascertain whether there were grounds to lodge an objection against 2nd placegetter BALLINA BAY. After viewing the film, indicted that they did not wish to proceed.
 
MAXWELL – Raced in restricted room near the 200m when BALLINA BAY shifted out. Apprentice T. Williams (Ballina Bay) was advised to exercise more care.
 
SNEAKY SNIPPER – Laid in, in the home straight.
 
VANCOUVER STAR – Began awkwardly.
 
ARLIS – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground..
 
BONDI BATTLE – Slow to begin.
 
MRS QUIGLEY – Jockey S. Sheargold reported that the mare was caught wide throughout and did not appreciate the tight track.
 
 
RACE 3:KURTZ ELECTRICAL BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 1200M   
 
GUD ONYA – Near the 800m was tightened for room, taken in on to WALSHIE which was tightened for room and had to be eased, which in turn tightened room for STARWOOD and WINNING ACCORD which in turn tightened room for KING LUDWIG which lost its position. Jockey S. Sheargold rider of TIMETUS, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a), for riding his mount forward and allowing it to shift in when not sufficiently clear, causing interference to those runners. Jockey Sheargold’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 8 days, to commence at midnight on Thursday 8 March and expire at midnight on Friday 16 March.
 
WINNING ACCORD – Post race veterinary examination revealed no significant injuries.
 
STARWOOD – Leaving the 600m had to be eased from heels when the pace steadied.
 
REPO ZEST – Apprentice M. Wishart reported that the gelding in her opinion did not handle the track.
 
 
RACE 4: GLEESONS BUTCHERY MAIDEN PLATE - 1400M
 
OUR MATE TURTLE – Bumped at the start.
 
MOHAKA RIVER – Bumped at the start and again shortly after. Laid in, in the home straight.
 
OAKFIELD SUNSET – Slow to begin. Laid in, in the home straight.
 
DANE’s FLYER – Trainer S. Mcewan advised that she would discuss with connections in regards to the racing future of the gelding. Post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
RACE 5:COCKATOO CREEK BRAHMANS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1400M
 
CAN HE RAP – Near the 800m, raced keen on heels had to be steadied and shifted out.
 
FORT MYER – Reared as the start was affected and lost ground. Near the 800m had to be steadied when CAN HE RAP shifted out.
