Race 1: QTIS MAIDEN PLATE - 1030m
HAIRY LOVER – Difficult to load. Began awkwardly.
ALL IN SYNC – Fractious in barriers
ANTIPODEAN LAD – Placed in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 800m and lost ground.
DISCO DOUGIE – Laid in approaching the 800m placing another runner to the inside in restricted room. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
WUNULLA LADY – Began awkwardly.
STRYKING PRINCESS – When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance Trainer G. Schwenke advised that the filly had been working well after returning from its most recent spell and as a result he expected it to be successful at today’s event. He further added that in his opinion it was more suited to the shorter distance of today’s event. Stewards noted Mr Schwenke’s explanation.
Race 2: QTIS MAIDEN PLATE - 1030m
DREAM OF LUCY – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
SAM’S ALLYCAT – Jockey J. King was reminded of his obligation to ride his mount out to the end of the event.
THE ORANGE MUPPET – Began awkwardly.
ROCK PAPER SIZZLE – Began awkwardly. Laid in throughout.
DREAM OF FRANCE – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground.
Race 3: BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP - 1030m
MY CERTAIN – Jockey R. Faher replaced Jockey J. King due to him being overweight. Jockey King was subsequently fined $100 under AR.190(3)
COMESIDICE – Slow to begin
JAZZY’S ANGEL – Began awkwardly making contact with the outside barrier petition and as a result lost ground.
WALSHIE – Slow into stride.
RUN PAM RUN – Slow to begin. Slow into stride and lost considerable ground. Raced wide without. Trainer D. Reynolds was advised the mare would require a barrier certificate prior to retuning to racing.
Race 4: CLASS B HANDICAP - 1200m
The start of this event was delayed when FANTASY MIDNIGHT reared over in the preliminary, dislodging its rider. FANTASY MIDNIGHT was declared a late scratching by order of the stewards at 1:45pm. Apprentice I. Teh was assessed by the Queensland Ambulance and was subsequently stood down for the remainder of the meeting. Apprentice Teh will require a medical certificate prior to retuning to race riding. Trainer S. Pedron was advised the mare will require a trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to returning to racing.
MAHUSSEY – Stewards permitted Jockey J. King to ride 1.5kg overweight due to no other suitable rider being available. Jockey J. King was fined $200 under AR.190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight.
CHEESIE – Began awkwardly making contact with another runner to the outside.
D’GREAT BEAUTY – Bumped by another runner upon jumping. Raced wide without cover throughout.
AKLAVIK – Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout.
MONT MONT – When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance, Trainer K. Stabe advised that after being unlucky during its last preparation it has been working well since returning from its most recent spell. She further added that due to the gelding performing well in its last trial, she was expecting a positive result at today’s event. Stewards noted Mrs Stabe’s explanation.
Race 5: OPEN HANDICAP - 1200m
HIGH TOWER – Stewards permitted Jockey J. King to ride 2kg overweight due to no other suitable riders being available. Jockey J. King was fined $200 under AR.190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight. Began awkwardly.
RED DEVIL – Began awkwardly.
SILENT FLYER – Apprentice R. Wilson replaced apprentice I Teh. Improved into heels at the 800m and was forced to restrain subsequently losing ground.
KIEVANN – Raced wide without cover throughout.
Race 6: Benchmark 60 Handicap - 1400m
STAR ADELE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
JACK’S IMAGE – Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 800m and lost ground.
BRAYD HEART – Blundered upon jumping and lost ground.
PAT’S GIRL – Began awkwardly making contact to the inside barrier petition. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare had sustained a laceration to the head. Trainer W. Morris was advised the mare would require a veterinary certificate prior to returning to racing.
SKYE AND ME – Began awkwardly making contact with the outside barrier petition. Tailed off from the 350m taking no competitive part in the event being pulled up shortly after by its rider. Upon returning to scale Jockey S. Lacy advised that in her opinion her mount was sore in the hind legs. A Post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer C. Geran was advised that the horse would require a trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to returning to race. Following the event Jockey Lacy was attended to by the Queensland Ambulance Service for an injury sustained to her left foot Jockey Lacy was advised she would require a medical certificate prior to returning to race riding.
