QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT CHINCHILLA TURF CLUB CHINCHILLA – MONDAY 20th MARCH 2023 WEATHER – Firm 2 TRACK RATING – Firm 2 RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – C Warren Stewards – T Preston, D MacDonald, D KerwickClerk of Scales – StewardsJudge – S FaheyVeterinarian – Dr G CavannaghSwab Attendants – J PedofskyStarters – I Henderson SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT Toowoomba Trials 7th March 2023 Stewards acceded to a request from Jockey K Yoshida to amend his suspension dates. As such his 7 day suspension under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) will commence on the 22nd March up to and including 28th March 2023. GENERAL As Jockey N Fazackerley was unable to fulfil his engagements in Races 5 and 8 due to being unable to satisfy the allotted weight replacements were made as per Stewards race day summary. Jockey Fazackerley was subsequently fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR190(3). Race 1: SHERATON GROUP SERVICES MAIDEN PLATE 1400m OUR POLARIS- Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure down the running. CANNY BOY- Raced wide for the majority. SIR JOHNY- Raced wide for the majority. REDVEDEV- Raced wide for the majority. Laid in rounding the home turn. Laid in abruptly on entering the home straight. AYNAT- Laid out rounding the home turn. Momentarily hampered and obliged to shift in on entering the home straight. Momentarily crowded when commencing to tire near the 50m. Tailed off somewhat and performed below market expectations. Post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant findings. GATEWAYS- Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure down the running. UNUSUAL MELODY- Dwelt in the barrier and was slow into stride. Race 2: NUTRIEN AG SOLUTIONS CHINCHILLA OPEN HANDICAP 1400m ABB ROY- As App J Molloy was unable to satisfy the weight App L Sykes was substituted as rider of the mare. App J Molloy was fined $100 under the provisions of AR190(3). PARKO- Laid out for the majority. REALAIDE- Raced wide for the majority. KUZCO LAD- Commenced to lose ground soon after the start and trailed throughout tailing off in the finish. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in both front. Trainer M Castle was advised a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to the gelding again being permitted to start in a race. Race 3: CHINCHILLA TOWING CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1030m BETTER THAN ROSES- Fractious in the barrier and bumped on jumping. MISS CINNAMONCIDER- Fractious int eh barrier and buffeted on jumping. Trainer P Webster was advised a warning would be placed on the fillies barrier manners as a result. TORRADAY- Bumped on jumping. DARK ORIGINS- Bumped on jumping. QUARTER PAST- Bumped on jumping. CALIFORNIA SPELL- Taken in by another runner before being restrained to avoid passing the 150m and again at the 100m. KEENZAP- Laid in under pressure down the running and shifted across the running of CALIFORNIA SPELL when not fully clear near the 100m. Jockey G Geran was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) as a result of this incident. JAQEN H’GHAR- Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure down the running shifting in across the running of CALIFORNIA SPELL when not fully clear near the 150m. Jockey N Fzackerley was severely reprimanded as a result of this incident. Race 4: PARKER SIMMONDS SOLICOTORS & LAWYERS PTY LTD CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1030m Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey P Hamblin, rider of 2nd placegetter BUCKALTIUS, to view the photo finish. After viewing the official photo Jockey Hamblin was satisfied that a margin was present and correct weight was declared on the Judges numbers. BUCKALTIUS- Jockey P Hamblin was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(5) in that he did use hi whip on 15 occasions in totality, 1 more than permitted, throughout the event. MOFFEED WARRIOR- Raced wide for the majority. CLEARLY GEORGE- Began awkwardly and bumped, shifted out and was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced. Hampered and shifted out away form heels on entering the home straight. ROTHERO ESSGEE- Jockey N Tomizawa was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(5) in that he did use hi whip on 16 occasions in totality, 2 more than permitted, throughout the event. CRAIGLEA LAKI- Raced wide for the majority. Laid out abruptly on entering the home straight hampering another runner. JET SPINNER- Bumped on jumping. EMIRATE PRIDE- Bumped soon after the start. Raced wide for the majority. COURTING ROCK- Laid in early hampering another runner. Trainer B Chessher was advised a warning would be placed on the mare as a result. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have sustained a front tendon injury. Trainer Chessher was advised the mare would require a veterinary certificate of fitness and a satisfactory trial prior to again being permitted to start in a race. ROCKBARTON PAT- Slow to begin before becoming awkwardly placed on heels. BRADDOCK DOWN- Crowded and obliged to ease passing the 950m losing ground. Race 5: SPECIALTY SERVICES QUEENSLAND CLASS 3 PLATE 1200m IMPACTFUL- Stewards permitted the gelding to race with blinkers instead of visors at Trainer C Smith’s request. Trainer Smith was subsequently fined $200 under the provisions of AR206(2) for a late gear change and directed to amend the geldings stable return. BOOMBRASSTIC- Obliged to steady and shift out when inconvenienced approaching the 150m. THE DARK- Stewards permitted the gelding to race without the crossover nose band at Trainer W Bakers request. Trainer Baker was subsequently fined $200 under the provisions of AR206(2) for a late gear change and directed to amend the geldings stable return. Slow into stride. Trailed the field for the majority. Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. LIGHTFAST- Laid out under pressure down the running. MAHBABY- Laid in under pressure down the running. A PRETTY PENNY- Shifted ground under pressure down the running when commencing to tire and inconvenienced BOOMBRASSTIC approaching the 150m. Jockey H Richardson was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) as a result of this incident. Race 6: MAWN RACING QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1030m FIGURE IT OUT- Began awkwardly. MORE MAX- Slow into stride before becoming awkwardly placed on heels soon after. Laid in marginally passing the 300m. App S Champkin was fined the sum of $500 under the provisions of AR131(b) for failing to ride her mount out to the finish. In determining penalty Stewards considered the fact that they could not be comfortably satisfied App Champkins actions had cost her mount 3rd place as well as her record in relation to the rule and the nature of the breach. App Champkin was advised of her right to an internal review. ORALLO- Hung out passing the 400m and in the early stages of the home straight and finished tailed off. Raced wide for the majority. Trainer G Arnold was advised the gelding would be required to trial prior to again being permitted to start in a race. HOT OR NOT- Improved onto heels and shifted out marginally passing the 300m. MAHIGRANT- Raced wide for the majority. MY TATIANA- Began awkwardly. THE DEVASTATOR- Momentarily crowded passing the 300m. CYCLAMEN- On returning to the mounting yard was found to have bled from one nostril in running. Trainer K Kemp was advised the filly would be required to gallop 1000m to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to again being permitted to start in a race. Race 7: METAL RECYCLING SPECIALIST BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1030m RIGHTHERE RIGHTNOW- Bumped on jumping. Raced wide for the majority. BULLETIN- Bumped on jumping. OAKFIELD TARGET- Bumped on jumping. Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages and crowded runners to the inside. App E Land was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. TURBOART- Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages and crowded runners to the outside. Jockey L McCoy was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. FITZROY BOY- Bumped on jumping. Crowded passing the winning post and obliged to ease. SHOTGUN SONNY- Slow into stride and became awkwardly placed on heels. Laid in under pressure down the running. Held up for clear running from the 100m and went to the line without being fully tested and was obliged to ease off heels passing the winning post. PHIONAIX- Crowded passing the winning post. Raced wide for the majority. VOULAIT- Performed below market expectations. Post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Jockey Paul Hamblin advised that, in his opinion, the heavy impost was a telling factor in the performance and as his mount was first up from a spell it would derive a significant fitness benefit from the run. Stewards noted the explanation. Race 8: XSWT TRANSPORT BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1400m The start of this race was delayed approximately 3 minutes to accommodate delays in southern race meetings. SETHLAND- Laid out under pressure down the running. POINT THE WAGON- Laid in under pressure down the running. CRAIGLEA BANDIT- Began very awkwardly and bumped before racing in restricted room for some distance having to be eased. Laid in under pressure down the running.. MILAGRO- Began awkwardly. EAST EXPLANADE- Raced wide for the majority. CAMARILLO- Began awkwardly and bumped. IN GREAT NIC- Raced wide for the majority.
